What a diabolical one sided refereeing performance. Probably the worst I have seen in over 50 years of watching Saints. It ruined a good game and totally ruined my enjoyment - well until the second half when we frightened them with pace and great play. Even when we were pushing on the second half Friend tried to keep them in the game with his decisions most of which have been covered but what about the defender nearly taking Josh Sims head off. I feel sorry for Romeou, he was given a soft yellow for his first foul and he had to be taken off as I am sure the Ref? (if you can call him someone who is there to see fair play) would have loved to bring out a red. How they did not end up with 9 men I do not know. Well done Ralph for the substitutions and keeping the players calm in spite of all those decisions going against them.

Good to see another manager seeing something in JWP and giving him a chance. For me he played his best football for us under Poch's pressing game. I hope he takes the chance to prove the Forum experts wrong.
-
Yes contrary to all the Forum Experts the new manager sees something in him as well. I thought he worked hard against City and more like the form he showed under Poch when he had him pressing. I also hope JWP takes the chance and shows what he can do.

Saints 1 West Ham 2 - Post Match Reality Check
Saints4Prem replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Disappointed with the result, but we did look tired and Ralph now knows Lemina is not a reliable replacement for PEH. However I cannot see the Officials getting a good score with their very poor performance. Amazing they (well mainly Carroll) were never shown a yellow card. Still should have known the Officials were not going to give us anything when I saw they were wearing the same colour shirt as Fabianski. -
Possible re-siting of away fans at SMS
Saints4Prem replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
I agree with moving the away fans into a corner. If their position was swapped with the Northam/Itchen corner we would have the majority of our singing fans behind the goal. It would also be worth canvassing season ticket holders/members as well as this forum to get a proportionate view from the supporters. I tend to think that some of the views on this forum are not the views of the majority. I also agree that we should have our singing fans in the Chapel and we could ask if they would, in the best interest of the club, be prepared to move so they can make their voices heard. Surely the infrastructure of the stadium could be easily modified for the away fans in the Northam /Itchen corner to leave through the same exits as they are now which would sort out the Police/Safety factors. I think away fans in a corner and especially away from the singing home fans could dull some of the opposition support. -
I have reviewed them on Trip Advisor it wasn't good !! I thought they ought to have a Health & Safety visit if they are taking bookings knowing they have a virus. Anyone with connections?
-
I am afraid I could not give the hotel a good rating on trip-advisor they need a visit from Health & Safety !

Obviously the linesman was too close and if you look at it from his angle he couldn't see the foot of green grass between the ball and the line. It's the angle of the camera that makes it look obvious I am sure Whitey can defend this one! Me I am getting a bit concerned we have upset the establishment by trying to get to the top six a few years ago. I blame this season on a number of reasons. 1. Puel leaving an ailing side 2. Pellegrino contriving to make it worse. 3. The poison in the camp instigated by a striking van **** and lastly the board for not getting a grip earlier and making changes (where are all the it was wrong to sack Puel journalists now. He has shown he can come in and have a good start with an already decent squad the proceeds to train the football and spirit out of them). The officiating I will leave out because everyone says it balances itself out so as it has been so bad this season we should have a good season coming up:smug:
-
Got to agree Whitey obviously no ref was ever going to see Tadic get elbowed at Man Utd (who would have been done to 10 men and a penalty for us) or the Watford player punch the ball in the net and of course the poor ref was unfortunately too close to see Alonso rake his studs down the back of the Shane Longs leg (the same Alonso who should have been sent off and had a hand in all three Chelsea goals, amazing the first one was a free kick from a foul that wasn't and taken in the wrong place). It would be easy to go on. All those silly pundits on MOTD also wrongly criticised the ref as they said it wasn't a foul by Redmond and taken in the wrong place. Decisions don't always go for the top sides and just because the foul count is Everton 14 and Saints 12 doesn't mean that Saints shouldn't have had 6 yellows [2 for Yoshi, how soft was the first one] and Everton 2 it is not down to the ref. (they must be running a book on how many can give Romeu a yellow as some have been very harsh). When my son became a ref I started to see it a bit from their side but yes I cannot hide I am being sarcastic and some terrible refereeing has costs us enough points this season to have seen us safe.

I voted yes as I think that Pelligrino is out of his depth. He continues to use tactics that we know from experience do not work, like scoring a goal and then defending. He has not learn't from all the mistakes he has made with substitutions they have been just bizarre. He continues to play only one up front when we are at home and should be attack minded. To give him some credit he has improved slightly in some areas and has learnt that it is not obligatory to drop the goalscorer or MOTM for the next game (although he has taken too long to realise this). Overall I think he has coached the football out of a reasonable squad and should be replaced by someone with something to prove who will organise the team, motivate them and maybe keep us up. my first thought would be a short term appointment of Mark Hughes who would surely come for a Million Pound ? bonus to keep us up

Josh Sims - It is obvious if we stick to this Forum's rules any player who has been injured / not played would have made all the difference !

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day
Saints4Prem replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Also he will have Fonte to make him look good -
If you have toxic feelings about the club and do not feel any excitement for the new season am I alone in thinking its time for you to move on for good ? Bye
-
Thanks for trying mate I do not think the silent majority on here shoot people down in flames ! I am sure that if you are proved right (with a name when you know) the doubters will apologise
-
Puel's fault he should let him play further up the field !

It is so difficult to post on this forum with the odd snippet you hear. Actually my info came from someone on the staff who was at the game. Like so many I do not know why I bother. Back to lurking and picking out the good and not dissing the ones I do not like.

I have heard that Virgil is off to Chelsea and the deal is already done. Apparently when we played them recently he attended, all suited and booted, and watched from a Chelsea private box. It does not look good from Paddy Power either as they have him as odds on to Chelsea. To cap it all I have also just heard Eric Black on Talksport and when asked about VVD he did not say he was staying just that he thought he had options. I would love him to stay but not feeling hopeful.

Oh Gosh another knee jerk opening post ! This board is being overtaken by wind up merchants and bed wetters. Les Reed has done wonders at this club and you should remember where we were before he arrived. Every transfer window or slump we get the same old people calling for somebody's head and nearly every time you get slapped in the face as he pulls yet another out of the bag. Well you must all be creaming your pants as it looks as if he has had a glitch and there are no rabbits ... yet ! It amazes me that you think that there is an iota of a chance of changing the running order of a multi million turnover business from your internet warrior keyboards. I have also yet to see any of you come up with a sensible alternative to the structure we have. I think we were unlucky in the recruitment this window but I am sure you would all have spent 25 - 30 million to have Sakho for six months oh yes all of a sudden he is the dogs when he has been a clown at Liverpool and is likened to bambi on ice. Also does anyone really think that after all the money we have "robbed from Liverpool" (well according to this board nearly everyone we have sold is pants) that they would have let us have him on the cheap? Apart from Chelsea and the poor show against Arsenal in the cup we have lost games because THE PLAYERS cannot seem to shoot on target and past the keeper. Also our keeper does not seem able to save shots that are hit low. I was not happy with today's result but the players had enough chances. It is a shame that more of you couldn't get behind the team as you are not going to change a thing but encouraging the players at matches helps a great deal. We weren't good enough with our support today either. I do not post much just fume at the same old people who seem to revel in doing down the club when we are going through a rough patch. It's not like Reed and Puel have guided us to a major cup final for the first time since 2003 is it. COYR

Just sat for 40 minutes got on the site however after 4 minutes of adding 3 seats to my basket it threw me out and I am in the queue to join again. It says less than an hour to get back on though !

Transfer Deadline Day Jan 2017 Edition
Saints4Prem replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Cheer up I am sure we will get a goalkeeper as well! -
After what he has done for Southampton FC I hope Les Reed stays as long as possible. He has done far more good than bad and I just do not understand so called Saints fans hoping for the wheel to come off and the club to go t*ts up so you can all say "I told you so". Lets hope Les shows every again how well he is running the whole show and we maintain our progress. Is it rude to refer to the ones who keep getting egg on their face as omelettes?

Could you repost this with the stats for Yoshida and then we could have a true comparison?
-
I am as disappointed as most after watching the game as we should have had three points but what is more sickening is the negative posters who keep coming on with the doom and gloom "Puel should go", "Reed is no good" etc etc. We are stretched as a squad as we have been battling on many fronts and have been unlucky with injuries. Do you doom mongers really think that as internet warriors you will have one iota of a chance of influencing a multi billion company ? I have been supporting my team for over fifty years and never boo the team, never leave early and give them all my support. Can the boo boys go somewhere else as they have ruined this forum. Oh yes I do have rose tinted glasses and yes follow the team through thick and thin and am happy to be led by the nose following the management of the Saints. But the last few years have not seemed too bad compared to some of the forty I have followed the team before that. I am sure I will be informed of the error of my ways but I am off to bed after a tiring day at work and will probably set up my own forum tomorrow with only me as a member so I can leave all the cr*p posted on hear behind. Goodnight.

Mallagroth suicide is a personal choice but the desperation of going as far as buying THAT shirt I feel you need saving ! If you go to the Instagram posted above (https://www.instagram.com/f6nte/?hl=en) and do a search for Southampton his latest Saints pictures are there. I hope you read this before you hit the M275 !

Nottingham Forest have appointed Philippe Montanier as head coach I wonder if the previous favourite Marco Silva could be a surprise announcement for us? ( I have a bet on both him and Puel for the job but got Silva at much better odds
