  1. Moved to Chandlers Ford when I was 4. Dad took me to Toomers to buy a football shirt when I was 8 for games lessons at junior school. I wanted a Man City shirt as they had just won the cup. Got bought a red and white striped shirt instead! Saw my first game aged 9 in 1971. Saints beat Stoke 2-1. Ron Davies scored the winner and Gordon Banks was in goal for Stoke. Got hooked. 44 years later still watching Saints. Must admit that the period since the Johnstone Paints trophy win has been the most enjoyable time watching Saints of the 44 years. Just about tops the McMenemy era of the early eighties.
  2. More lazy journalism. My guess is that Morgan will be off in the Summer, assuming that he still wants to go. The only way that he might stay is if we qualify for the CL. The most important thing this summer is to keep RK.
  3. Don't get to many away games, but went yesterday as had a chance of a first visit to Old Trafford. Thought that it would be a tight game, which it was. The organization and workrate of Saints was superb. Couldn't get over how 73,000 people could be so quiet though, especially after we scored. Having seen the replay of the goal it showed just how well Tadic did to set up Pelle. Pelle worked his backside off. Found the locals at the game a friendly bunch, even coming back on the tram after the game. Must be that it's just the plastic Man U fans who are complete kn*bs. Excellent day out.
  4. It seems to me that Taylor defends every single player regardless of what they've done. He seems to think he's job is to defend them which it isn't (that's for his lawyers). It's representing the player body and if that is going against one player then so be it.

    Ched Evans

Just seen Gordon Taylor on the news comparing the Ched Evans case to Hillsborough. He will regret these comments. Expect a backlash against him in the media.
  6. To stop trying to change the half-time entertainment to anything but the relay.
  7. Still gonna go I think. Will be the last game I can go to before I'm off to Africa so a nice Saints win away from home will be appropriate.
  8. Went to the Emirates for the LC game. They built a really wide bridge over the railway that we used. But then the Emirates cost £400 million and SMS cost £32 million. The bridge to Northam road was built on the cheap. If SMS was ever extended then I am sure that it would have to be rebuilt.
  9. PM'd you...
  10. So no word of a lie, I know her. Just sent her a snapchat now.
  11. No rest for the wicked. Sell out crowd at St Marys and both teams will be up for it so hopefully it'll be a cracking atmosphere. Gonna go with 1 - 1.
  12. I was in year 4 at primary school and we raised money for it. Truly shocking natural disaster.

    Mane

Am I the only person who thinks he's ****? He is quick but has no football brain on him whatsoever. We're playing in the PL. You can have this kind of player as an impact sub but playing 90 minutes?
  15. Knowing Southampton we'll probably win on Saturday. Qpr and Man City a couple of seasons ago comes to mind.
  16. Tough on NA, but that's football at the moment. All sorts of nonsense going on in the background at Reading, so sack the manager. Hardly surprising that they have been struggling this season. Whoever comes in is likely to struggle as well. Don't think that NA quite cuts it in the top half of the Prem, but he was good for Saints and would have kept us up in the first season. Two promotions and one of the good guys in football. He kept his dignity when he left Saints.
  17. Why does Tadic take the pens? His one at Arsenal in the LC was lucky to go in.
  18. God save the Queen: The aim is to drop a penny in someone else's drink while they are holding it. Then everyone starts singing the national anthem and they have to down it before you finish singing. Easier for pints of beer. Harder for large amounts of spirits. Would recommend if in Scotland or Germany.
  19. Slade is the best imo.
  20. But most teams don't go from the bottom of league 1 to the top of the premier league over the space of 4 years?

    Hooligans

Yawn. Couldn't they have chosen something more worthwhile to study?
  22. I don't think they care. As long as 32,000 go through the gates every week, they could all be neutral for all they mind.
  23. I agree with all of this. We did beat them in the COC though (perhaps they weren't really going for it). Think Arsenal 2 Southampton 0 though.
  24. I used the Q-jacker system for the first time and found it pain-free.
  25. Game was dull tonight so we were working out how many ex-Saints were playing in the Premier League. We had: Shaw (Man U) Chambers (Arsenal) Lovren (Liverpool) Lambert (Liverpool) Lallana (Liverpool) Hammond (Leicester) Walcott (Arsenal) Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal) Puncheon (Crystal Palace) Dyer (Swansea) Crouch (Stoke) Sub: Ramirez (Hull on loan) Manager: Pochettino Asst Mgr: Monk Kit Man: Redknapp Three man defence. Not quite sure who would go in goal. Should score loads of goals if they ever got the ball. Have we missed anyone? What about a Football League ex-Saints XI.
