Long will be with the Ireland squad, otherwise I think you're about right.
-
This. I challenge anyone to name a player who has been more exciting.
-
Blimey. About £100m "worth" of that lot are no longer at the club or not in the team, and that's not counting Moreno who's only on the fringes. Shocking waste of money, the fool is on borrowed time.
-
Correct. I was down near malaga the week before last. The malaga fans love him and think that with a run of games he'll be brilliant for us. They can't understand why he's sat on our bench.

Luke Shaw suffers double leg fracture against PSV

Depends on the terms of his contract. In most players contracts that I've seen each game missed from an injury in the field of play (or anytime after being selected in a match day squad) is deemed to be an appearance. Not applicable here but it's a clause that some players have (and no doubt still do) abuse. -
I agree. Reed is ready for first team football now, no dispute imo. We overlooked last season preferring an out of position Toby and in doing so disrupted the back four. Bizarre decision and on that I don't bow to Ron's greater footballing wisdom. Reed ought to have been given a fair crack this season but instead we sign Romeu who imo is no better from what I've seen of both. It'll be interesting to see who comes in for Romeu when he gets his first ban, which judging by his cards to date won't be long. On the conflict point it's known at the club (Less Reed included) that we have limited talent in the breakthrough age range. Reed apart, and perhaps with the exception of Hesketh and Debayo as the season develops, I can't imagine Less Reed expects Ron to use any other youngsters this season except sparingly in the cups.
-
It might be a nothing article but it is accurate. It's hard to argue with the Romeu one as well.
-
What's (the not world class) Morgan got to do with a comment about Romeu!? Odd.
-
He had a good first half but faded second. Whilst he likes a pop from a range where he's unlikely to score , he's ill disciplined. His yellow was harsh but the tackle didn't need to be made. He pushed his luck after that and was very lucky to stay on. The ref played an advantage rather than blowing up in the second half when he hauled the man down. Had the ref blown it was a certain second yellow. Don't get me wrong, he looks decent but I'm not persuaded that he offers more than Reed could .

Reed is a cracking little player. As neat and tidy as Romeu looked last night I cannot see what he offers that Reed can't. Strange business.

Planning to travel to Paris by ferry (good idea of bad idea right now?)

I went last Friday and got back yesterday. Going out we got caught in the workers strike at calais and were delayed for about 90 mins. Coming back was a breeze, no hold ups whatsoever. -
Indeed. Agents fees, loyalty payments for outgoing players, signing on fees for incoming players, plus the reported £6m to Osvaldo, the extra £25m for Staplewood etc must all be factored in. I reckon we're looking at one cb, possibly on loan, and a loaned in midfielder.
-
Agreed. For me, I take great pleasure that we can be so competitive on the field despite our budget and ffp restrictions. We're in good shape.
-
CB, I get your point on terminology but ffp does limit our ability (if the money were available) to compete with the big boys. It's a glass ceiling, or barrier, or whatever. Spurs ffp cap is more than treble ours. Liverpool's is much higher too. That limits our ability to compete with them but we do. Unfortunately we're stuck with these restrictions. Our club have a choice. Either we let players contracts run down then give them away and feed off scraps. Or we sell them once it's clear that they don't want to stay, get decent fees and buy quality replacements that could make the team stronger. We've chosen the latter route and we've implemented it brilliantly. I'm not sure why anyone is questioning our approach.
-
He'll be a loss, but targett is capable. Big chance for Josh Debayo to stake a claim too.
-
You're a drama Queen, and answer your own question. We haven't got the means to smash the top 4 and ffp would stand in our way if we did. Thus, league wise at least, there's limited room for progress. We'll want to nibbling at the edges and doing well in cups. I'm happy with that. We don't get "looted". That's a daft comment. We've sold Clyne who's contract was running down. We're selling Morgan who's been a loyal servant and wants to ply his trade at a level we can't get to. We'll get good fees for both.
-
Osvaldo going will help with ffp more than anything else.

I posted on here last April that the staplewood spend had gone from to £38m from £14m. That was 6 months or so before the figures became public. If he's received £6mil it's a years income plus a mil.
-
I've no idea what the severance package is but £6mil is a years salary plus a million.
-
Training ground overspend = £24-25m Del. Car crash stuff.
-
Wages = £96k

The kids - who will travel to Austria/make the 1st team squad?

My mate's a Swindon ST holder. He says Stephen's tailed off last season but that Turnbull got better and better. He rates Turnbull as the better prospect but thinks Championsip is his level and league 1 for Stephens. -
Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer priorities

Good post mate. The number of idiots who label us fans as non fans just because we're able to recognise that our club is smaller than bigger clubs never ceases to amaze me. -
To be fair, nothing above suggests that anyone is bothered about another forum. it's just a bit of squabbling with Chertsey / Jeff accusing someone of beating his wife and kids. Perfectly normal Saturday afternoon stuff.

Thanks for the warning. I'll pop over later to see who's character he's dragging through the mud.
