  1. He's a decent championship player, from how i remember him. Don't think he's that old? so should do a job for us at L1 level. Leeds wanted him in the summer, but he failed a medical. Wasn't he at Luton alongside Steve Howard/Rowan vine?
  2. Don't see the point. Harding is one of the best LB's in the league and Mills is good enough back up for that. heck...we even have Molly if worst comes to worst. Would be a pointless signing unless both mills and Molly are leaving.
  3. if we do - i'd put Connolly and antonio to the bench, bring on Papa and (if fit enough) Murty. Stick Lloydy in the midfield and push hammond and morgan into advanced positions.
  4. I agree, alot of focus is put on ''which formation wins us games'' - but IMO, if you have the players with enough quality, you'll win enough games anyway - regardless of the formation.
  5. Impressive. was quite a strong bristol city team, a few of the players were act. in the team that beat us at St Mary's last season...
  6. completley spot on - it was identical to the rovers game in that sense, where harding was up against it as Lallana wasn't ''glued'' to the left. Playing 4-4-2 needs 2 out and out wingers, who are disciplined enough to hold their positions. If they go walk abouts then that's when the space opens up.
  7. I'd like to buy a top defensive midfielder in january, someone who's built like a brick house. That is what we lack at the moment IMO. we played ok when morgan and hammond were allowed to advance forward, but when one is needed to sit - we loose something, as neither are in that ''DM'' mould IMO.
  8. I think he played for us against Gillingham, i think he poss hit the bar/post or something?
  9. they played a great game IMO - well disaplined, had a fantastic defensive shape to them and knew the ballance between attacking and defending. They were possibly the most organised outfit i've seen us play this season. Poyett will be a hero for them IMO. He was the engine behind the success at Leeds/Swindon.
  10. What worreis me is teams will see how Brighton setup against us, and do the same. Ok, they may not have the threat brighton did - but it's an interesting thought. Brighton played and attacked us with the same purpose as Bristol Rovers, and got the result at the end of it. That's why we're not quite there as a team yet...we need to learn how to deal with ''skillfull'' pacey forward/wing play - luckily there isn't much of that in this league.
  11. I don't think they are that poor, i think they are in a false position. They have good players for this level (Forester, Elliott, Cox, El-Abd) etc..and spent just around £1m in the summer on new players. They were pre-season favourites for at least a top 6 spot - now they have a decent manager i expect them to move up the league quite quickly.
  12. i really can't understand that - how can you hope we get knocked out, or lose any game of football? this is a chance for a trip to Wembley...and tbh it's the best chance we'll have of getting there this year. i still don't see how that game cost us though tbh - seeing as Trotman, who was the worst player, has been rested for a couple of games. If we play a league game mid-week, but lose the weekend one..do we blame the mid-week game? It's exactly the same scenario imo - in this league you have to be prepared and fit enough to play saturday - tuesday - saturday - wednesday etc.
  13. Can't see anyone else but hammond tbh. was probably the purpose of the change around against Charlton in the JPT - and by all accounts he had a good game.
  14. I kind of agree, it was like a flash back to previous games this season where we haven't had any real pattern to our play and it's all been a bit hit and hope. But we did have a fair bit of the % in the 2nd half and probably should have got it back to 2-2 with hammonds chance. Found it quite funny reading the programme, and pard's said they want clean sheets...it didn't look like that in the first 20mins! We could have been 4-0 down by then!

    Bump!

We have had our most consistent spell over the last 6-8 weeks than we have had for years and years. This was a blip, a defeat, these happen to all teams. I wouldn't over anaylse it - i;d sit back and watch us go on another long unbeaten run - as we have shown we do.
  16. I didn't think he was that bad today tbh, alot of our threat came when he was on the ball and running at their full back. As people have said - he's raw, and is by no means the finished article. IMO though he has terrific attributes and if trained and coached correctly, he could become a fantastic wide man.
  17. TBF we started scoring from corners once he started taking them and Lallana stopped. I think he has the ability to whip in a fantastic ball, but he is way to inconsistent in delivery, from both open play and set pieces. Alot of the corners are either over hit or played into comfortable positions for the GK. Something to work on in training.
  18. lol to keep some people quiet on these forums we have to win every game by the looks of it.
  19. Agreed. Weirdly, Trotts has had a little time out of the side...so should have been fresher, but he was the worst of them all. Looked totally off the pace of the game. As you said though, we weren't going to go through he rest of the season unbeaten and we would always loose again. Let's hope we can respond in the right way.
  20. Was mentioned in the programme today by Pard's, his reasoning being that he needs someone ''on the pitch'' who can go and talk to the ref if needs be......he did say he'll stay as ''club captain'' and he's the best club captain he's worked with.
  21. We dominated the game in terms of possession, but had no answer to brightons effort and grit - they were outstanding. They defended for their lives and fought for everything, well deserved winners IMO. Their CB won every single ball in the air, rickie struggled to get into the game at all. I wasn't surprised at Brightons attacking performance, they have been scoring goals all season - people speaking prior to the game about 4-0 wins etc are a little bit caught up in the run we've been on, they are a good side who i believe are in a false position. They spent over £1m in the summer and were expected to be pushing for promotion this year. Trotman had a shocker for us though, he's been a rock for us this season, but he lost us that game today in the first 30mins. He's still young and he'll learn from it, but he just wasn't with it at all. A really odd display from him. I don't think we should be saying stuff like ''serious questions need to be asked!!'' or go too OTT though - we were always going to loose a game again. The test will be to see how we respond.
  22. Not a bad draw at all, anyone at home would have been perfect - as i honestly feel we could beat anyone at St Mary's at the moment. ....and if Hereford beat Mk Dons....which is completely possible, wembley looks amazingly close..
  23. It'll be very tough IMO, no 4/5-0's here...i'd love to be proven wrong though. i'll take a scrappy 1-0 in the final minuite right now.
  24. Clear as much dead wood as possible, the likes of Molly, Pulis, Gillett, Saga etc... bring in another striker...just to give us some further options. Lee barnard at Southend maybe. I'd also go out and buy a new DM, someone in a smilar mould to Pele (when he played there for us..)...good passer and just sits deep, breaks up the play and pops the ball around, which then lets Morgan and Hammond drive forward. Maybe Lloyd can do that, but i haven't seen enough of him there yet.
  25. if you dig around on the match theread, there is another thick comment about how they should be beating teams like ''Us'' because we're in the bottom 3. complete morons, cannot stand them at all.
