  1. I reckon it could be something like £8-10m guaranteed, with a further 4-5m on specific clauses over the period of the contract (5 years for example). That would be a deal.
  2. They love wasting money. Flexing their muscles to build an unbalanced team.
  3. He'd posted a smiley face before he edited it!
  4. Hopefully someone who knows what that is can unpick that! I do hope Gao is going. I'm very, very, very nervous about us being owned by Chinese entities at this moment in time. Wolves should be too. China is expected to introduce more restrictions on its companies and citizens investing in UK businesses. That could be bad news for Chinese-owned clubs in the UK such as Wolves, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham and Reading. But given that he doesn't invest, I guess it'll make little difference! Still, very worrying though.
  5. Technically, he came in during the pre-season in which he was sold. But if I remember right, he was announced as the replacement for Pep a good 6 months prior - so he'd have been studying that squad quite a lot in the interim I'd have thought.
  6. 1) Ings, easy. But I've also got to agree with JWP running him close too. 2) Tricky one, we've not really had any breakthrough that I'd class as 'young' 3) Not too many have broken through, so I'd go with Obafemi - although I like Smallbone too. 4) Armstrong. He was a bit in and out last year, but has become a pivotal player now. 5) Can only be KWP really. 6) Valery for me in the Leicester game, and then other games. Helplessly out of his depth. 7) Stephens v City 8 ) Man City home, Skates away. 9 ) Can't disagree with the Leicester one, although performance wise the Everton home game was right up there. 10 ) Man City home
  7. New signing alert....?
  8. Doesn't look like it's happening. Bit of a nothing game to end the season for both of us now, nothing hanging on it apart from either finishing 8th for them or 11th for us.
  9. Interesting, quite cheap too? And I think I remember Chelsea having first dibs on any transfer as well....given their need for CB's, they may become interested.
  10. Palace haven't really been spoken about since the restart, given they were already safe. But christ, they have been disgustingly bad since the return. Worst side along with Norwich. 6 defeats in a row, probably another today.
  11. 12th is ours...
  12. Sheff U look shocking, lacking in any real ability or quality. Not entirely sure how they are where they are! I like Sander Berge, but that's about all they've got.
  13. I think any manager would be mental to go there. It really isn't any way to run a football club. Maybe they need to be clear in their head what they want to achieve with Watford, what football philosophy and identity they want? They don't seem to have a clue, they just move players around between Granada and Udinese and have no real transfer strategy. Oddball club and they really do need to get relegated so their owners can feel the financial pinch of their absurd club management.
  14. Gareth Bale's situation is a strange one. He's clearly never going to play at Real Madrid as himself and Zidanne are always at loggerheads, doesn't even get in the match day squads. Yet his agent is now saying that he isn't leaving Real Madrid because no one will be able to pay what he earns, and how he's 'happy' and settled at Madrid - even if he doesn't play any games? Has Gareth completely fallen out of love with football and is just going to enjoy the mega money and not do anything until his contract runs out? He should just admit defeat in his Zidanne showdown, leave the club and take a pay cut to join another top club. There would be countless takers if he was willing to take a pay cut, but as I said, maybe playing football isn't important to him anymore.
  15. Personally, I'd have kept Yoshida for the final 6 months of his contract and sold off Vestergaard for the up to £26m.
  16. Seems to have all stemmed from the Real Madrid rumours for me, he looked 100% set to join and then it didn't happen. He's gone backwards since then, errors at first which were covered up as rarity's are now following a consistent pattern of basic technical errors. If I were Man Utd, take £20-30m on him, service a portion of his wages for the next couple of years, and get a new goal keeper or use Henderson.
  17. If they want to spend £15m then I'll drive him there. Such a shame we decided to block that up to 26m deal in January, that would have been hilarious. But even with 15m, we're not making a huge loss on him. Take it and run!
  18. Do you know if the club are actively looking at goal keeping options? There has been talk that Fraser is coming back and is going to fight for his place here.
  19. If he has any decency he'll agree to a mutual termination of his contract for free, as he's probably by now recognised that he cannot play football.
  20. On VAR, I know it's raised it's questions this season and there aren't universal fans - it annoys me in many ways, but the goal it intervened in today is exactly what it's there for. That was a potentially huge goal at the bottom of the league, could have cost Watford or Villa millions if it came down to a point. It was a shit miss by the lino first off, but this is what VAR is for - clear and obvious errors and removing huge game changing/season defining official errors such as that. Bournemouth will be sick, but the game will be much fairer if VAR is used like this.
  21. Bournemouth at home, funnily enough. Last kick of the game, he decides to confuse Bednarek and lets Wilson score in an open goal.
  22. Yeah, wtf is that about? He's a knob, but he has literally picked them up from being dead and buried to being in the driving seat to stay up. What is with their owners? Good, strong season under Javi Gracia....struggling start, so they sack him by September. Then they bring in the the previous manager who they'd sacked a year or so before, and he lasted about 2 months before they dumped him. If i'm honest, I hope they go down because how they run that club is not a way to run a football club.
  23. I haven't really paid much attention to La Liga this season, but Espanyol finished bottom of the league and were relegated? Jesus. What on earth happened there. They finished 7th last year and top of their Europa League group...! Crazy. Marc Roca is a very decent CM fwiw.
  24. Yes, exactly. He seems to dither in his head way too much, he's very reactive rather than proactive in his positioning and given that he has no pace then he can't really react most of the time, this is a constant from him. On the ball, and off the ball.
  25. To be honest, given his height, I'd expect him to win most in the air by default. He did still lose a few headers though. On the ball and positionally he wasn't great, as per. He doesn't react to danger quick enough for me, seems like 3 yards behind the game in his head all the time - and it doesn't help that he has no pace to recover with either!
