  1. Reports in Spain suggest that the agents of Valencia forward Pablo Piatti are in Spain to negotiate his sale, with Superdeporte mentioning Swansea and Southampton as possible destinations.
  2. Maybe, although we'll probably be limited to 1 line at the bottom of the article. I believe, although I may be wrong, but the new FA guidelines on academies is that you cannot have ''satellite'' centers out of your respective catchment area - so I believe the bath academy had to shut down, or will do.
  3. Nothing really matters at this stage. Wouldn't know who the relegation candidates are, or if we'd even be looking at their results anyway. Way too early to read anything to any result or table position.
  4. Man City will not win anything if they have to play Garcia for any long period at the back.
  5. I don't think anyone actually said that, did they?
  6. I personally don't think the coaching staff fancy him. He never features. I thought the fact he got a few mins in the pre-season games suggested he may be further up the pecking order, but clearly not. Probably has lots of pace but not a lot else.
  7. Just realised that it took us 7 games to get to 4 pts last year (2nd week of October) and it then took us a further month to move off of 4! Getting that first win out of the way from the WBA game will help us a lot...otherwise it just hangs over you.
  8. It's a great story to be honest and makes me very proud to be a Saints fan. It's not that we're just playing youth for the sake of it (as we did under Wotte) - we actually have young players who are premiership quality ready to come into the 11. When it was suggested that our long-term plan was to have 50% of our team made up of academy players, I thought it was beyond possible and completely far fetched. But actually, it's not. The Academy is growing and growing very, very fast. This crop won't be the last...

    Altidore

The same way De Ridder got Play of the year over there. Awful league.
  10. Yep, used the ball very well. Was surprised he was substituted to be honest. His lack of pace is frustrating at times though...
  11. He reads the game very well and as you said, knows how to time a tackle. Jumps pretty impressively and win's most ariel jewels with aplomb. He hasn't really been tested by 'pace' in behind as yet, and that's the only question mark I have over him - but so far, looks like a level above anyone else we've got.
  12. Throw in a bit of pace to the mix and we'd be amazing to watch.
  13. There must have been a load of stinking games today!

    Lee Mason

    Shocking ref. really.
  15. The fact you're the only person posting this shows you're out on your own. Sorry. Wanyama is immense, anyone and everyone in football can appreciate that. We've been the better side in both games, bar a 30min spell in the 2nd half of the WBA game We've been on top possession wise in both games, and although we're not creating enough clear cut chances at the moment, we're a better side on the ball than we were last year.
  16. Seems to be made of glass to honest!
  17. I think that's just him, that's what you get with him. I don't think he's ever really going to make a solid connection with us, I think he'll score goals and win us games....but he'll have his strops and will probably forget to appreciate the fans in some games. That's the character he is, and in a way is why he wound the Roma fans up.
  18. You clearly watched the Fulham game then. He was the best player on the pitch. He wore the number 16 shirt.
  19. If we are serious about the cup, let's play a decent side. As Swansea and Bradford have shown in recent years, if you're positive and confident in the cups you can go far. Sod all this 'weakened' team crap, let's go for it with the strongest side we can put out. Scare the living daylights out of Barnsley.

    Gaston Watch

Enjoyed the fact that he was willing to run at them, we didn't have that until he came on the pitch. I said the same after the WBA game, but he seems to have bulked up a bit -certainly isn't being knocked off the ball as much as he was last year.
  21. Reminds me of Xavi in the way he plays. Uses and protects the ball incredibly well, his set piece delivery is a joy to behold Technically, one of our best players.
  22. It was a game of frustrations really, glad we stuck to it and ground out a draw at least - would have been a travesty to walk away with nothing based on the general domination. I don't agree with the poster who suggested Sunderland were fantastic, they were complete and utter bile. Awful. They will be in serious trouble this year, which makes it even more frustrating that we couldn't beat them. We should have done better with the free headers in both boxes, but unfortunately for us we had a day whereby Lambert and Rodriguez were very, very poor. Nothing happened up top at all really. Osvaldo looks a character, that's for sure, but didn't influence the game a great deal in the 2nd half. A couple of good touches, but was not quite on the same wavelength at times. Overall, one of those real frustrating afternoons. Lots of nice possession and football but not enough clear cut chances created for me (echo's of last year...!). We should ahve scored at least one of those free headers though. JWP was and is outstanding. He has all the ability to be one of the best midfielders in Europe, him and shaw are the next 2 international superstars off of our production line
  23. Unfortunately it's on football rumours, so has no substance what so ever. Would be ideal if it were true though. In a way, we're not in a bad position in terms of bidding for ''young'' FL players. Hammond, Sharp, Fox etc -would all be very attractive to FL teams, so include any of those in a deal would push things on a bit further.
