  1. Leicester fans seem quite focused now on winning this Europa Conference, not really any other big teams in it and winning another a trophy that would qualify for them for Europa league next season , so potentially there could be 8 teams in Europe next season unless that would take away one of our places in the league.
  2. I agree 100% but the line up we put out against Coventry doesn't fill me with hope. We got out of jail on that one so hopefully Ralph has learnt his lesson. Don't think we'll see as many changes but It wouldn't surprise me to see the likes of Caballero , Valery, Stephens, Diallo, Smallbone, Walcott , A Armstrong, Long involved at some point, still allowed 5 subs aren't we?
  3. Probably for the best, we weren't going to win the Cup anyway and have a large fixture backlog, haven't we got 4 or 5 games in hand on Ipswich, need to get on with those and win the league. If we'd got through and drawn Chelsea or Man City it could have been painful viewing.
  4. I'd be surprised if there are many, they're all too busy booking up for Seville and saving their pesatas for that. Don't know why we don't just give them a few more hundred tickets rather than leaving empty seats in the Northam. West Ham really should be aiming for Top 4 Europa league Fa cup In that order so with many fixtures coming up let's hope it works in our favour.
  5. Get down to St Mary's this afternoon for some free football, Saints B v Nottingham Forest chance to see the youngsters https://tickets.southamptonfc.com/selection/event/date?productId=101546976308
  6. Good comfortable win, felt like we were coasting at times and 2nd half drifted for a bit , hopefully we work on our finishing as could have had a few more goals. Superb run of form, for once Saints season ticket holders are getting good value for money seeing home wins. It will also be interesting to see Russia's response , I fear the behaviour of some of our fans will make Southampton a target should Putins soldiers make it this far west, Putin you're a c*nt, stand up if you hate Putin and 10 Russian bombers in the air all sung in the 2nd half, not sure what the point of all that was myself , going to football should be an escape from global politics
  7. There used to be a 22.30 and 23.00 train back to London as part of normal timetable, loads of Saints fans used to be on it going to various place on the way to Waterloo , rubbish service from SWR removing late ones. They are supposed to be running a late one especially for the West Ham game, with 7.30 kick off that should allow for ET

    Other Games 21/22

I was impressed with Burnley at St Mary's earlier this season , gave us a proper game, end to end stuff at times and a fair 2-2, I always think goal difference is a good indication of how they're doing, much better than other sides in the relegation battle. Brentford fans are starting to worry and I think they are in trouble, massive game on Saturday they need to avoid defeat to Newcastle.
  9. They took the lead at Anfield and were leading with 30 mins to go but fell apart under pressure, definitely think some Saints fans are getting carried away expecting an easy win. Norwich are running out of time though and need wins so hopefully will be an open game. Another memorable Norwich home game
  10. That's good news for Totton as well hopefully they can piggy back on that investment to advance as a club, any idea what they are actually doing for the upgrade?
  11. Was speaking to someone at the weekend who takes a closer interest than I have, apparently Saints are not full time and most of the players either have other jobs or are studying, There's a feature on the women's team in every home programme where they do a "player profile" which includes their occupation, this week Leeta Rutherford who has occupation "Area Sales Manager". Puts in perspective the sort of level they are playing at and will present challenges if they go up the leagues and need to dedicate more time. Interesting to see the club are running a supporters coach to Ipswich away in the FA Cup this weekend, hopefully they can fill it.
  12. You're spot on, I'm sure most of us who have been going for years know that a slip up in a game like this is just waiting to happen. We've already lost to them once this season so Ralph won't be complacent and they've had some good results recently, especially winning 1-0 at Wolves and I was impressed with their 3-0 win away at Watford. They are bottom of the league with by far the worst goal difference for a reason though.....
  13. I agree, there's no novelty factor for them as we've played West Ham so often even in the Championship, whereas Coventry have been down in league two and the whole city was up for an FA cup day out on a Saturday. I know from personal experience a trip from Essex to Southampton on a Wednesday afternoon, m25 / m3 you can never tell how long that will take, trains have been all over the place recently, plus West Ham have Europa league starting again the following week so the cup trip down here isn't that appealing. I'm sure they will sell them all still , not sure if they'll get extra tickets like Cov did but seems silly not to if they're going to have the whole end anyway. Police might want the extra segregation. Hopefully West Ham get drawn with Barcelona or Napoli in Fridays draw that will distract them a bit.
  14. £15 price during season ticket holder / member sale period, £20 when on general sale. We have to offer same price to away fans, they'll sell out to season ticket holders so £15 is the price. Agree with others it's a pain not being able to buy leaving a single seat, when you call up they let you buy it no problem just online that does that but is annoying.
  15. They've opened up some of block 44 for Saints fans as well now, £15 tickets still and gives us most of the Northam end , should make it a good atmosphere. Not sure how many Norwich are brining but won't be more than 1800. Saints hitting good form ✅ Home to Norwich under the lights ✅ Gunn in goal for the Canaries ✅ Who is going to score a hat trick like this one?
  16. Last day of sales today before general sale starts tomorrow (and the price goes up) doesn't look like much of a take up so far, guess there's a lot of home games coming up to pay for but thought the £15 price would have sold more.

    The FA Cup

Magic of the cup you never know, but instead of Armstrong let's go with a Shane Long winner in the last minute, his last ever touch of the ball as a professional footballer. West Ham will be really tough I think, they've been good in cup football this season, hopefully the top 4 and Europa league will be their priority though.
  18. I was getting so carried away writing the list I missed Leeds off the end to complete the 18. In reality of course we know that inevitably we'll have a bad performance/ unlucky result / injury etc but the 2nd half of 2015/16 season does give me hope. Looking at the table it's going to be hard to finish higher than 9th so we might as well win the FA Cup instead
  19. 100% yes let's make it happen Saints, getting closer to that 7th place with the form we are on Norwich , Villa, Newcastle, Watford, Burnley next league games...I make that 18 points and we're right in the mix.
  20. Absolute f**king joke. TV games already confirmed for March, Watford home remained 3pm Saturday as not on TV so plans made for the Sunday. We now play Newcastle on the Thursday night for no apparent reason (why not Wednesday?) And not move Watford to the Sunday. Neither of the games are due to be on TV, makes no sense whatsoever.
  21. It does seem like many didn't get a message, thought it was odd when buying with a member yesterday ticket sales look really poor compared to the Coventry game at this stage. Suppose this one is midweek putting off families and also on BBC plus is more expensive tickets.
  22. According to Everton forum the team is due to fly 4pm this afternoon Post in thread 'Southampton v Everton. February 19th. 3pm' https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/southampton-v-everton-february-19th-3pm.114524/post-9429205
  23. Looking at the forecast we've got heavy rain and strong winds to look forward to on Saturday afternoon, reminds me of the Burnley home game we had this time of year in 2020, could certainly have an impact on the game. They also mentioned on the news that severe travel disruption expected on Friday due to storm Eunice, could delay Everton's journey down would be a shame if they were stuck at the airport for hours.
  24. They've put the rest of block 43 on sale, £15 tickets , I wouldn't be surprised if we get some of block 44 as well like we did for Burnley at home earlier this season. I often moan about the cost of modern football but got to give the club credit for these prices and the West Ham game the following week.
  25. I've travelled to see football in countries like Ukraine, Serbia, Poland etc , often hear "I love West Ham United, my favourite film is Green Street Hooligans." , definitely helped raise their profile.
