Top notch all round, ended up in town until 2am after the train back, everyone buzzing, it’s what it’s all about. Will be a few sore heads this morning. Great result, thought we never really got going either, 4 away wins in a row without conceding, is that a club record?
-
Not that it should matter, but any significant team news from the Skates? Are they going to be without any ‘key’ players? Guaranteed they won’t look after the pitch and the ref / police won’t allow the game to be called off due to SKY and cost of the operation, we’ll end up playing on a bog.
-
There is no possible scenario where a 2-0 away win would be dull or uninspiring. Completely agree with LGTL , proper buzz for this one like no other game, stepping off the train at Fratton to make our way to the ground will be unlike anything else we’ve had for years.
-
Weather warning for heavy rain issued for the south of England on Tuesday, if the game is still on it could turn the pitch into a lottery, those sort of conditions help the underdog.
-
Not been impressed by what I've seen so far this season, we got a bit lucky at Brighton and Sheff Utd, when did we last win a game really convincingly? I've seen us lose to lower league opposition too many times over the years to be confident for this, the players know what's expected of them, got to match their fight and pick off their mistakes.
-
Definitely bottom half this season and won't be far off the bottom 3 unfortunately, home form particularly concerning.
-
I know its a Friday night and on TV but surprised at how many tickets are still on sale, mostly at the Chapel end and Itchen / Kingsland South. Hopefully 8pm Friday will help get the atmosphere going, the bucket rattlers don't tend to sing much though. If either side wins tonight they'll be 3rd in the table, for a few hours at least, would love that to be us but going for 2-2 draw.
-
It seems if either side wins this game they’ll be 3rd on Friday night, mad really but it looks set to be a very tight division this season, I’d definitely take a point, Bournemouth are a good side with plenty of pace which we tend to struggle to defend against. Lots of tickets still available, currently on open general sale seems an odd decision considering Bournemouth have already sold out for their big day out at “scummers away”

England to play Euro qualifier at St Mary's in September

Hopefully the club can salvage some good PR and send him a complementary Sammy Saint teddy to add to his collection, it’s not his fault he got caught short and wet himself at St Mary’s previously. I bet Talksport didn’t ask him about past incidents and his oddball behaviour. -

Decent game, i actually enjoyed an England qualifier for once which is rare, added unexpected bonus on the Northam concourse at half time lots of loud saints songs including 'if i had the wings of a sparrow ' don't hear that enough, can tell Skates away is coming up. -
I miss the old days where a big cup game would see early morning queues stretching out of the Dell car park down Milton Road, all added to the excitement.
-
I read that differently, think they are saying as we haven’t sold out there is no risk of away fans buying in the home end so they’re allowing tickets to go on open general sale to people with no purchase history.

Agree, except for Mason Mount to takes the opportunity in every interview to bang on about being a Pompey lad. -
I was going to say that's impressive if we've nearly sold 2900 but not if some of the tickets are going unused. Makes no sense as this game doesn't qualify for Skates away anyway. Anyone keeping tabs on how our international players are getting on this week? I noticed England were training at Staplewood yesterday and assume they will be today, might disrupt our preparation a bit. Sheff Utd got many internationals? I noticed David McGoaldrought was playing for Ireland, either him or Billy Sharp is bound to score against us.

Kosovo beat Czech Republic 2-1 and currently top the group, England should go above them later but fair play they look like a good side. I had thought this was a bit of a mickey mouse fixture to have at St Mary's but this actually could be an interesting game. -
There's plenty of trains, can even go via Eastleigh / Hedge End route, don't need to catch the one the police ask you to. I hate the idea being squashed on a packed train, will get a quieter option with couple of cans, there will be plenty of lads doing that.
-
About the same, you'll easily get one.

https://www.footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-one/fratton-park-portsmouth.html#apubs-for-away-fans There's a few options for a prematch drink there. Can't see how the police will corral everyone as we'll be arriving from different directions at different times. Should be easy enough to just merge in with the crowd.
-
Good news, can anyone who knows the Fratton area recommend a good pub for a pre match pint and a pack of scratchings? Might make a day of it with a spot of shopping at Gunwharf.
-
I might be a cynic but i fear the club and the police are colluding to drag this out to reduce the possible selling period in an attempt to limit the numbers travelling. Apparently some regular away followers received an email asking if they want to attend the consultation with the police in Hamble on Saturday, just get on with it!
-
They've not been great this season, not fussed about this comp but none of them seem to be pushing for first team call ups. We'll be knocked out in the group stage.
-
Didn't we lose to league one Sheffield United around that era.. My favourite bit of Saints media coverage was when Cortese banned photographers and some papers (The Sun?) Refused to mention us at all and just referenced "South Coast Club "
-
So far they've called off Rotherham at home due to a festival and now they've called off this weekends game v winless Southend due to some minor international call ups, game after that v Bury also obviously off so they are getting plenty of rest in before the big derby.

Many from here going to this next week? Decent bit of PR for the club to host a competitive England fixture, just a shame no current Saints players involved. Good luck to anyone who draws the short straw and finds themselves sat next to John PFC Westwood. -
A shocking waste of money really, feels like we've been conned.
