  1. It is really sad mate, but ultimately it had to happen to send a signal to whoever sets the prices for these games that without decent offers and good marketing they will not attract the crowds. we had double that last year for Torquay game, think it was £5 for season ticket holders with no ticket tax, so it is more than a 100% increase in price this year. hopefully if we get through some more sensible pricing can be used, or get an away draw somewhere where a small crowd doesnt look so bad
  2. So basically some nobodies who none of our fans know didn't get on with the 1st team manager? Sorry can't see that as enough, being 'the manager' allows you the priviledge of having a say in things and not having to fall into line with a youth team coach.
  3. Unattractive game + overpriced tickets + ticket tax = record low crowd. 5-1 odds on swindon are tempting.......
  4. yep good news 2000 sold out decent following, hopefully we can take 3000 to swindon in a couple of weeks time as well.
  5. Thinking about it, this is our first away game of the year as well, really can't see why we haven't easily sold 2000 for this, the terrace tickets at £16 aren't a bad price for this division now. It does say tickets are available on the day if we have not sold out http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~2106792,00.html so would be useful if the club gave an indication of the number left tomorrow afternoon, might persuade a few more to drive up for it.
  6. the irony of putting us in the leppings lane lower tier, and then over filling it on the anniversary of hillsborough disaster was noted at the time, although to be fair we found seats right at the end block.
  7. this is exactly the approach that i would use if i was in charge, make it more expensive for my limited fan base to attend, creating more empty seats in an already souless stadium which is only 65% full , then tell them how generous I am by not bothering with a sponsor because we are so rich we don't need one..................... i'd rather see this "we're so rich we don't need the money" approach used to attract bigger crowds and reward those of us who turn up for incredibly unattractive fixtures (carling cup/ JPT / Daggers at home on a cold tues in november)
  8. any idea how many sold now? must admit I am quite surprised we have not sold out for this yet, relatively local away game only a couple of hours drive wouldn't cost much for a few lads to jump in a car up there, tickets not that expensive, bank holiday weekend.....
  9. any idea on number of tickets sold for tonight? i reckon 10k crowd maybe less, mostly due to rip off ticket prices.
  10. it wouldn't be a problem if we were playing a big team, suddenly not so many on holiday or waiting for credit card bills, it comes down more to how much people really want to be there. and i have said, ticket prices are too high.
  11. I actually assumed he was on a professional contract already having featured on the first team last season. will be interesting to see how the youngsters progress this season, should definitely play chamberlin in the JPT and against Bolton next week to build up his experience, then league games when needed. With no reserve league this year I guess we wont know when the others are playing or doing unless the games arranged with other clubs are advertised and reported on?
  12. Leave it out mate, this is about opinions and just because some people post stuff you disagree with it then becomes "a crap place to discuss Saints" . I prefer critical posts that are actually based on some thought, rather than happy clappy ones when everything is great but with no basis to support the statement. fact is, last year we had 30k for Exeter at home, and again for Leeds at home (and MK dons in the JPT). This year is supposed to be the exciting promotion push (season ticket sales lower than I expected), and the Orient game being of more significance than "a game against relegation candidates" being the first game since Liebherr's death you would expect a much higher than average crowd. You would expect those people "who pick and choose" their games to attend, and with most events, once mates are going others are more likely to go along as well. We will see tomorrow, hopefully a crowd of 27-28k can be achieved p.s - i agree that prices are too high and should come down to attract bigger crowds.
  13. Visually the full house for the minutes silence will be a lot more powerful, and the atmosphere created afterwards will be amplified. Shouldn't be too hard to sell out considering we had 21.5k v plymouth on sky early kick off. I'm even not sure we will even have the biggest crowd in the division, Sheff Wed are at home to Brighton who have excellent away support, they had 23,081 first game of the season v Dagenham so they could have 24k+
  14. ridiculous attitude to take, of course it matters what the attandance is. Perhaps the poor performance at home to Plymouth and the ticket tax are putting off more people. but even still for this game there should be at least 27-28k due to the significance of the fixture, would be nice to have a decent atmosphere for once as well, the plymouth game was like a library it was so quiet.
  15. we should be united in wanting success and gettng behind the team, but if a decision is made that you disagree with there is nothing wrong with saying that and voicing your opposition. sounds like a good service today, but in someways the real memorial is still to come on saturday with 30k + saints fans packed into st marys for the minutes silence
  16. 1) There really should be a crowd of up to 30k for this, probably not a complete sell out, but using holidays etc as an excuse is not good enough in my opinion, 50k to Wembley we should be able to manage 30k for this, we even had that for Exeter at home last year. (ok there was a special £10 deal on) 2) Has to be a minutes silence. It is what is is supposed to be, a mark of respect, I cannot stand minutes applause can you imagine them doing that at the cenotaph on rememberance sunday? hopefully the club issue an update tomorrow on the numbers sold.

    Saints fans jailed

    1) for those of you who delight in labelling people 'little chavs' are just being snobs, football has always been a tribal game where young working class lads have gone along together, its not Rugby and if it becomes like that it will be a sad day. 2) you seem to be missing the fact the old bill are going after saints fans trying to issue bans all over the place, compared to most clubs are support is already sedate and boring there really isn't a problem that the echo story tried to portray. Football is an easy source of arrests for them.

    Saints fans jailed

There were also a couple of arrests at the bournemouth game for incredibly minor verbals between saints and their fans, guess which side got arrested? Someone has been targeted with getting the banning numbers up and trying every trick possible to do it.

    orient home

Agree with the sentiments above, will be good to see a full house, good news that block 43 is open, i cant see Orient bringing many so hopefully block 44 as well like the MK Dons game.

    Saints fans jailed

how many will that make it? for a nothing incident, this country really is a joke, makes me sick that they get away treating football fans like this. And football bans are a restriction of libery that should be revoked by the government. and on the same day you get stories like this in the echo http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8333601.Child_porn_downloader_escapes_jail_sentence/ just lucky he didnt shake a fence in the direction of those kids
  21. I think it is a good idea and in line With other clubs who already operate schemes such as this, as well as England, say thanks to the troops and build up some goodwill
  22. Might as well go for it, play a mixed team of some 1st teamers and youngsters with some stronger players on the bench, i think swindon played a weaker team in some of their games in this last year as well so we might get away with resting a few.
  23. you've answered your own question. If saints make tickets say £5 for season ticket holders i probably would make the effort for my 2 hour journey down, just get the feeling the club is intent on milking as much money from its most loyal fans as possible, i'll still probably go but will resent it if its say £15
  24. its irrelevant where your going to be, point is you wont be at the game so its easy not to care about pricing (or agree its right when you have no intention of paying it yourself). In the context of this thread we don't even know what the prices would be anyway, it would just be nice if it is a home draw that some sense is used. i hope we get aldershot as at least a local game would make it more of an occasion.
  25. and then we can all say well done NC thanks for ripping us off again, not that you'd go yourself anyway. Technically dagenham at home is impossible as we are in the south west group, but getting a west country minnow at home like hereford or torquay how much would you say is acceptable Inc ticket tax?
