Watch yourself in So'ton pubs when watching the World cup
JRM replied to Toadhall Saint's topic in The Saints
what was he saying? has he had the operation to remove the video camera stuck to his eye yet? -
That wasn't my point. The whole communications nature of the club is all wrong at the moment and gives an impression of paranoia that they want to keep things secret. My point regarding season tickets was a more general observation, we have potential for a larger season ticket fanbase, we have had great opportunities to advertise season tickets like the 50k at Wembley and thousands of hits the official site would have had around then. If they put them on sale at the start of June it is hardly going to capture the attention of those not looking our for details. And doing a mailing is not as effective marketing as having your customers infront of you, like we had for games in the run in to the season.
-
Yes, but the point is the club are encouraging specualtion with their secretive approach to everything. The programme affair was the strangest of the lot. Ask anyone who works in sales and marketing, the key to good performance is capturing your market at the right time, we have had some great opportunities to attract new season ticket holders, around the time of the JPT final at Wembley, even the last game of the season with nearly 26k in attendance. I would bet the number of hits on the official site go down considerably around this time of year, people just aren't thinking about going along to saints, especially the part time fans who might be tempted to get a season ticket at the right price. Now when details are announced they'll have to find other ways of advertising to those who wont neccessarily be looking out for the details.
-
Which clubs haven't? think you will find they all do unless in Admin. I've been to all away games in latter part of the season and every teams programme had season ticket details in from march onwards. Norwich/MK Dons have even been selling thiers for the past 3 months at much reduced prices

I think they are pushing the "football related" side of things a bit far now. My guess is they haven't met their quota for banning orders this year, so will be looking to boost the figures over the summer to justify their presence next season. and if any lads on a night out for the USA or Algeria games (saturday and friday nights), there should be plenty of easy pickings for them!! I guess if they dont go to games anyway most friday night town p*ssheads wont care anyway. EDIT - also slightly missing the point, banning orders were originally brought in to stop hooligans travelling abroad for England games, if these people are in England during the world cup anyway stopping them travelling seems a bit pointless! -
When we moved to St Mary's most fans moved to stay consistent with their positions at the Dell. Most Archers Road went to the Northam to continue the standing. A lot of the old lower east lads went to the Itchen corner. Away fans were stuck inbetween them, only difference being they were now behind the goal rather than the upper/lower east corner. I'm not really sure what the solution is, but it would be nice if the atmosphere improved at st marys, it amazes me how large areas of the stadium sit in complete silence, with often the most noise made being a moan as a player gives the ball away, or abusing the ref.

Does anybody know the words to the Lambert song?
JRM replied to anothersaintinsouthsea's topic in The Saints
poll being why do saints fans turn into hyperactive kids with learning disabilities when singing losing all control of their arms clapping their hands together at a super-fast speed, therefore drowning out whatever song they were singing anyway? The Rickie Lambert song would be quality if we actual did sing it. Instead the first verse is mumbled and descends in fast clapping and la lalaalalalalalalalalala -
Now we know who is in the Playoffs, who do you want to go up?
JRM replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
anyone who has been to Aldershot for football will tell you it certainly would NOT be a friendly away day. Don't think they have a issue with us as such, but it is a rough town with a reputation. I'd rather Dagenham and Redbridge come up in the play offs from 4th Division, not too bothered who goes up from ours, probably Millwall or Huddersfield. -

I agree, our support is so bad it verges on embarrassing, there needs to be a collective outing for the northam stand to somewhere like white hart lane to see how it is done. The super fast singing and obsession with clapping along at extreme speeds is not how football songs are supposed to be. We have far to many soft student types and women in the Northam = no concept of terrace culture. Look at all the best / vocal fans, proper anthems, no mong like clapping. -
Whatever the eventual reasons are for the decision not to sell programmes this game will always be remembered for this. Such a strange thing to happen, made even stranger by the fact there is nothing obviously wrong with the programme that stands out. And does anyone know when the club will be announcing ticket details for next year?
-
well said, couldn't have put it better myself!
-
well said sue whistle. i'm shocked at how easily upset some of our fans get. it's football FFS, day out for the lads, nothing wrong with a bit of rogue behaviour
-
There is definitely something strange going on. No season ticket news, missing out on valuable advertising opportunity at the match. No kit details - again missing opportunity to market it to an easily accessable audience. No programmes for the last game of the season - in the 25 years i've been going to saints games i've never know programmes not to be sold, i know for a fact they were printed, so there is something in the content which was not deemed fit for publication
-
pitch invasions are not wrong. f*ck off with your health and safety, its because of people like you that i'd actually make the effort to invade the pitch just to annoy you
-
exactly what i thought. Northam has a large percentage of morons, the one thing i would change about the club is the supporters. nothing wrong with running on the pitch, long may the tradition continue.
-
shoreditch is much better than the QA. Too many memories to want to go back there anyway mate
-
It is about time the saints programme followed the same pratice as most in the league and listed the away attendance in brackets next to the match attendance on the fixtures page.
-
I just hope he plays Pulis so the fans get to say farewell before he leaves
-
hahahahahahaha imagine handing yourself in as you think it looks like you and you can't remember if you did it or not!! "hello officer, there is a picture in today's paper, yeah looks a bit like me...."
-
whoever has done that list has guessed a few, with the remainder taken from the official site. there is no way we have 1600 at Norwich, it was less than that, about 900. I remember Hartlepool away the official figure was 635, but everyone who was there could see there were virtually no seats left. all in all not bad average support. The quality and noise has been poor at times though
-
"The violent scenes saw a caravan forecourt smashed up"......... typical pompey newspaper, unless i've missed something they don't sell caravans do they?
-
if results work out there could be a cardiff v swansea play off game, perhaps some of you on here would like a trip down there to preach from your gospel of peace, and realise that two passionate football clubs don't just have a jolly nice time at the match, and oh well we lost lets go home for tea. where the hatred is as deep in rivalries like ours there is always going to be trouble. most of the points above are pointing out that football related offences carry punishments that are well out of proportion, we live in a country where people spend less time in jail for paedophile cases than for having a scrap at a match, crazy
-
that is completely different, we have a two way hatred with Portsmouth that runs deep at both clubs, with bournemouth the hatred is only from one side. i guarantee they will turn up in town larging it up being abusive to any saints around, "scummers scummers here we come" they sang yesterday, well lets see how many saints still have a soft spot for them after this season
-
Bournemouths support definitely see us as hated rivals, never really bothered about them myself, but from lads ive met at england + verbals at waterloo dont expect a nice friendly day out. By all means ignore them, but i think they will provoke a reaction
-
I also collected that, fantastic memories, was 9 years old at the time of the world cup and it is still my favourite ever, brilliant stuff. those were the days we could stay up and watch the games, then watch the news in the morning to see the lads who were deported walking through arrivals with their t-shirts pulled over their faces. this world cup will be unbelivably sh*t compared to Italia 90
