you have been spot on with this for a while now and I completely agree, so many smug morons on here were coming out with "know it all" statements as if they were facts, "don't worry they are toast" "they are screwed, no chance of coming out of this" , which of course just hasn't materialised, they are showing every sign of getting through this and with the possibility of even holding onto a couple of their better players like James. It is a disgrace that they are still trading, lets hope Grant's departure that the exodus begins. A football league points deduction would be nice, but i'm not holding my breath.

How many of you grew up / have lived in a muslim dominated area? If you did you might start to realise why some people have had enough are starting to stand up for themselves. How many of you would feel comfortable sending your child to school knowing 70-80% of their classmates would be muslim and view your child as an outsider, in an area where your family have lived for years?

It is disgusting, offering contracts to an England goalkeeper, touring the USA, all while they have money unpaid to CHARITIES and LOCAL SCHOOLS. I really hope that come June 1st and they officially become members of the football league (hopefully while still in administration) an announcement is made on points deductions etc. From where I am sitting they have not been punished at all. Until the money owed to the taxman is paid in full they should have a transfer embargo in place stopping any new players from joining the club. Why should the country, all set to go through cuts and tax rises, allow a business who deliberately didn't pay taxes to carry on trading.

I can see a lot of Pompey fans turning up for this one, surprised the hants police were happy with this fixture might be more hassle than it's worth for them.

Havant & Waterlooville, I am sure we will get a friendly reception there!!!! I've never been to their ground so tempted to do it, wonder if it will be similar to a visit to Fratton. Can someone also explain how the skates can afford a pre-season tour to the US?????? what is that all about? A championship team, hardly a big name, in administation, touring around America. "Portsmouth FC will bring a full first team on Saturday 10th July to play their only local friendly before flying out to America the following day for a US tour. The match again seals a deal with Pompey that will see the Championship side play their reserve team matches at Westleigh Park next season. Three days later on Tuesday 13th July, Southampton FC will visit for an evening match, being the League One side’s first return visit for a friendly in seven years. Following this the Hawks are still set to take part in the Joma Challenge Cup in North Devon, the draw for which will take place over the weekend. "

2010 Toulon Tournament - Live on Eurosport (18th May - 27th May)
JRM replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I think it was during the last world cup I heard France described as "the best African team in the competition" Definitely some truth in that statement. I don't think i could support them if I was French. -
I still do not understand how they can be offering contracts, to players such as Englands David James, they should be forced to work with lowest salaries as possible with every available penny going to the creditors, i wonder how James feels about the club managing to find the funds to pay his wage, but unable to find the funds to pay small cancer charity which it owes money to. Disgusting. Just hope Avram goes ASAP as that will help with the exodus of players. Can the football league impose another transfer embargo on them? is this already in place?
-
where did you hear that? any team names mentioned?
-
what a moron. think you are missing the point of a season ticket mate, in theory with your suggestions someone could get one and just do a couple of games. if you are only going to miss 3-4 games, get a season ticket, more than that then pay your way each game. i know people who cant make mid-week but still get season tickets and give them to mates/colleagues to go in their place.
-
if anyone gets some inside info from the club on who we are playing and when, can you share it on here, thanks.
-
I fully agree mate, I don't think they did a very good job at all. Just making a point that rather than continually attacking the people involved it would be good to have a well organised active supporters group to look after the interests of the fans. The closest i think we had to that was in the Dell Days some of the meetings at the Maple Leaf club and concerns raised over the reverse takeover.
-
I think you are a bit weird mate. Cannot see why anybody is that bothered about it. Why not set up a rival supporters group? And I think having some sort of supporters collective organisation is good for a club and good to keep the owners/management on their toes. full marks to what the manchester united independents supporters club have done in exposing the damage being done by the current owners. As a club we don't have a very active fanbase though, compared to other clubs. This is shown in things like the inablilty for saints to have well run unofficial coaches and stuff like that.

maybe he has won the lottery?

the same chelsea who bottled it at White Hart Lane. we will see. I had the unfortunate timing to travel through waterloo after the semi final and badly want them to be humiliated, however, knowing our luck they will push chelsea all the way.

Must have been a quality trip mate, beautiful area, staying in some random small towns, just looking at Juve's goalscoreres, R. Baggio, Di Canio and Moller, not really surprising we lost as you say, we had Neil Maddison and Glenn ****erill in midfield!! would love a trip like that now. With the Cortese connection you never know, a double header against Pisa and Fiorentina would be good!!

The one's i have done before, Feyenoord away in 2001 was announced week before end of the season as i remember discussing it as the Arsenal or Brighton games at the Dell, the Norway and Sweden ones I recall were also confirmed around the time of the last game. If we do go abroad it will be to play some village teams though, i can't see any top flight Italian/German teams wanting to play a 3rd division side. This has got to be the best pre-season tournament, in 1993 somewhere near the Alps 1993 Played in Saint Vincent and Aosta 6- 8 Juventus 3-1 Southampton [Di Canio 63, R.Baggio 83, Möller 85; Maddison 35] 6- 8 Torino 1-0 Cagliari [silenzi] 7- 8 Torino 1-0 Southampton [Poggi 86] 7- 8 Juventus 4-1 Cagliari [Vialli 6, 33, Ravanelli 89, R.Baggio 90; Dely Valdes 43] 1.Juventus 2 2 0 0 7- 2 6 2.Torino 2 2 0 0 2- 0 6 3.Southampton 2 0 0 2 1- 4 0 4.Cagliari 2 0 0 2 1- 5 0

Fulham are only 15mins away from QPR, Brentford, Chelsea. i would rank London club support in terms of hardcore numbers Arsenal Tottenham West Ham Chelsea QPR Millwall Fulham Charlton Palace Brentford Orient Barnet Dagenham if you compare that to how many teams are in saints catchment area it shows our potential
-
Exactly. Saints v Torquay JPT wasn't that prices "slashed" to £8 for season ticket holders? Fulham v CSKA Sofia in the Europa League £5. Can't complain though, wish all football was that cheap. Fulham v Hull, and Fulham v Wigan season ticket holders could buy extra seats for £5 Then again it was that long ago they got 3-4k for home games in the 4th division.
-
it might be "just a badge" but it is the symbol of the club, our emblem that is shown in the media and it is ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. The current badge only looked decent with the old style football. It then changed to the new style one which looked shlt and this one is even worse. 1/10 for effort
-
once again most saints fans do like them. The only saints fans i know who don't are ones who have had run ins with Bournemouth fans over the years, they call us scummers, claim to hate us, and will certainly make out it is a big rivalry. I think most of us just see it as a decent away dayout
-
Italy or Germany would be good, but unless they announce it soon it may be to short notice to make arrangements, how about Fiorentina away as part of the Papa Waigo deal?
-
Hopefully we have them away last game of the season, get promotion on a hot May day and re-create the scenes of Leeds promotion there in 1990
-
that's what I thought, it looks terrible. like a red nose from comic relief

to all those who think it is bad to run on the pitch, watch this video - this is what football is all about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAAD06BHZlw

To be fair, it is a market economy. Who is it who can say how much anyone is worth? If a company is prepared to pay you a salary to work for them, that is their decision, if that company then goes bust, well they shouldn't expect to be bailed out. In theory, with football, the power is with the workers (players) who certainly reap the benefits of success. The owners of the clubs are held to ransom by players/agents, in the knowledge that their "skills" are so sort after they can always move elsewhere. It is only if clubs collectively agree to stop outbidding each other would wages reduce. The problem I have with it is a) clubs spend beyond their means increasing the chances of going out of buisness = bad for the fans. and b) clubs can only rely on sky money so far so ticket prices continue to increase passing the cost of these high wages onto the fanbase. = bad for fans I said it before, this time last year when were on the verge of goiing out of business sky sports news featured an old lady handing in £500 at st marys to help keep the club alive, the fact that that would have paid Bradley Wright-Philips for half a day is absolutely disgusting!!
