  1. So they want their own fiscal control whilst maintaining a single currency - that worked well elsewhere.
  2. While we are getting shot of dead wood, we could think about removing other burdens. The IOW and Highcliffe have a high proportion of old codgers which is likely to be a drain so lets get rid of them. If Sinn Fein can pony up a couple of mill, sell them Northern Ireland. It must be touch a go if cornwall contributes anything, so they can eff off. Never seen the point of Norfolk, they're gone. I'm sure I 've missed a few.
  3. Would love to see a reasoned considered debate on this subject with all of the facts clearly laid out with no bias. However the debaters are the polictians and the news will be conveyed to us by the journos, so no chance of that. In my mind they are in or out. Completely, entirely and with finality. No retaining currency or defence or anything else. Can you imagine the wrangles over budgets for defence and the like. The UK decide they need another £5bn for the arned forces and the Scots refusing to pay up, or using it as leverage to get something else.
  4. I think any assistance is at the discretion of the fire fighters - not entirely satisfactory "Should a "major incident" occur, the FBU has agreed it will exempt firefighters and operation managers from strike action if they volunteer to help"
  5. I'd drop Lallana. I would go for spider, cork, jwp, gaston, srl and os. What is does make you realise is that we have no viable alternative to the wide left position
  6. Great signing. Have a croat mate who says whilst he is excellent, he does have a tendency to lose his head and pick up a ban. so far, liking what I see
  7. depends on how much I've drunk. Tis a fine line between rose tinted specs and wetting the bed
  8. So which one of Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool are we going to displace for 6th then?
  9. The posties are expected to vote for strike this week. However what struck me is that it doesn't cause as much aggro these days as because most communication and payments are transmitted electronically. Ten years ago I would have been thinking about contingency plans at work. Now we will just breeze through it. That suggests that the long term future for the Royal Mail in its current form is not so good.
  10. Well given how much flak he is getting on the post match thread, "you're sh1t and you know you are" may be more apt
  11. One thing I learnt today is that Nolan is a massive knob
  12. Don't know if this was ever posted before but the final paragraph made me chuckle http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Portsmouth_Football_Club_Westwood&oldid=261568808
  13. What it this "all" of which you speak that a 3rd class Anthropolgy degree can get you? Mikey, sounds like to me that you did the right thing and cut your losses. Three years of misery and thirty grand of debt is a high price to pay for a piece of paper that doesn't open doors quite like how it used to. There are plently of professions that will take non-grads. Consider recruitment, especially if you are an outgoing type. If you can sell you can make decent money and most companies don't give a monkies about your qualifications or lack of. They are also recruiting like billyho at the moment. Expect basic in the £18k region and OTE of mid twenties in the first year. Upwards there after. if you are good (and work bl oody hard) you can earn big money (six figures) in a few years. Otherwise if you have a head for numbers, you can go into the bean counting profession. It is possible to get qualified without a degree. Damn sight more work and less paid than recruitment tho
  14. Anyone whose job title ends with coordinator?
  15. When did yoshida become ****e?
  16. I did the bridge when I went - I enjoyed it. They do breathalyse you before hand so be warned - we had a morning slot and I got hammered the night before so was flapping about being over the limit. After the opera house we ate at the restaurant beneath it http://guillaumeatbennelong.com.au/ - very good fine dining
  17. Thanks guys. We will definately give some of those ideas a go.
  18. Our defensive record would improve further if we trained our physios to do this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24029055
  19. He must have a hard on for Wierd smiles
  20. Meh, we have too much sugar in our diets anyway.
  21. Wasn't so much a blindly follow George slant, more of a generic whinge about the negative always being highlighted.
  22. Instead of everyone looking for "downers" why doesn't everyone be happy about some positive news - you never know the whole positivity thing might just catch on leading to more confidence, more growth, more positivity etc etc. Ed Balls seems to be rather quiet recently. Where does he stand politically now. He took a very public line attacking the coalitions policies and the doom and gloom haven't quite materialised in the way he implied they would. Is this an opportunity for Milliband to reshuffle him? I think Labour and Ed M would be better off without him.
  23. Number 38 should involve social services.
  24. I fear my expectations of how much help this thread would be may have been too high!
  25. Right then, going to be spending a couple of days in Bangkok with the missus. She has put the mockers on any kind ping pong firing shenanigans, so I am looking for great things to do "for couples". Any ideas?
