  1. My point is the hysteria from the British press, compared to the jokey tone of the Defoe incident. Admittedly it was Defoe's first bite, but do you get a free one, before there's outrage. Is there degrees of biting, or does it matter who you bite. Those calling for Suerez to be banned for years were quite happy for Defoe to play for England since. Biting is either disgusting and has no part in football, or it is like a headbut or an elbow. You cant say, it's only disgusting if you do it twice, or do it in the world cup or do it if you're a Carlos-kick-a-ball.
  2. Defoe got a yellow card. No fuss in the media, no outrage from supporters. I guess if your English biting someone is a bit of a lark, whereas those dirty Foreign bastards are cannibals .
  3. The English media are hypocrites, as is the FA and many many supporters. It is "part of the game" according to Martin Jol , I guess biting an Argie is ok when you're English. And before people start, there is no way I'm sticking up for Suerez, but why was Defoe treated so leniently, and if biting is such a horrendous offense why did nobody care about this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-412157/Mascherano-rages-FA-punish-Defoe.html
  4. I'm not sticking up for Suarez, BUT watching the UK media and the 3 stooges on the BBC in particular, my mind does wander to another incident. An incident that was treated rather less seriously and in some quaters as a joke.
  5. Barca won't touch him with a barge pole this window if there is a big fuss over this. I'd be amazed if Madrid did either.
  6. Who is going to pay the asking price now?
  7. We're more likely to see him now, barca and Madrid won't touch him this pre season.
  8. Agreed , he looked class , whilst most Uruguay players were just hacking it away and hoofing it anywhere he kept his head.
  9. He was pulling his shirt down showing the ref his shoulder and going nuts. Not the normal way you react to a headbut
  10. Looked like it to me and the Italian is pretty convincing that he did. Great corner from Gaston, but Italy should have put this to bed by now.
  11. Hang on, I'm getting confused. It's in the Daily "Fail" , aren't we meant to ignore anything in there. Do we ignore everything or are stories that we approve of true.
  12. Just about sums it up, lets give everyone a game. I suppose foster will come on at half time. Its the world cup ffs , not a testimonial.
  13. Anyone who can't see the difference is either an idiot or on a wind up.
  14. This is the argument that "subjects" put forward all the time. Name a ridiculous figure and then "imagine" them as president. Blair, Branston, President Boris. What about King Charles, or King Andrew. We go around the world imposing democracy and deposing Saddam and the like. The only difference between the Germans Reigning over us and Gaddaffi or Assad is timing, how do you think the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's came to rule us? By being nice chaps that the public insisted became head of state?
  15. First off he's an Argue, so is hardly likely to want to do it. Secondly, the English press and supporters aren't going to put up with us continually throwing leads away. Thirdly, his style of football needs hours and hours of coaching and organisation, something a national manager won't get the hours to do and fourthly, our whole system is underpinned by continental players. Its telling that his first signing was victor, there is no English player with the ability needed to play that role at the top level ( and don't say cork). We also have 2 decent centre halfs, both from abroad. Jags and Cahill will be ripped apart in our system, whose going to play, lescott, Jones, smalling. Liverpool were better than us, Roy took most of their Englishmen and we are out after a week.
  16. If its all about economics why don't we sell it to the highest bidder? If its about value for money, then maybe some rich person will do it for free. I don't sing it, and will never sing it.
  17. Funny how everybody I talk to about England, names players that should be playing and funny enough they all come from the team they support. Clyne was kept out by a 19 year old in his debut season and jack cork is really not good enough. As for JWP, I presume the poster calling for his inclusion is either related or still drunk from last night. Reading this forum the answer to England's 45 year old problem is to pick all the English born players from England's 8th best team.
  18. I heard Pearce on " my sporting life" and he came across as funny, down to earth and had some great stories about Cloughie. One that made me laugh should be used on today's superstars. Following his first call up , cloughie called him into his office . " Young man, do you think you're good enough for international football", he asked "I think so " replied Pearce, " well I ****ing don't". Replied Clough. Pearce credits moments like that with keeping his feet on the ground. He also went on about his time running the u21' and how English players don't use the lower age group tournament to get experience of tournament football, whereas the Germans do.
  19. Id like to see Chambers as a right sided centre half, so 3 at the back wouldn't necessarily mean Yoshida playing. Personally I think our present full backs are made for that system, but if Shaw goes not sure who would fit in.
  20. The cosy buddy buddy analysis from the "experts" is a bloody joke. You can have expros on, but they need to say it how it is. They do in cricket, boycs in particular. He'd have laid into Hart informing the viewers that his mum could have saved the second with a stick of rhubarb . All this "unlucky" and "they did well", no wonder they think they're world class.
  21. Woy got carried away with liverpools season and the way their English players played this season. Forgetting that Suarez was the main reason for their sucsess, he went against his 30 years of managing and tried to turn himself into a different sort of manager. We should of sat in against Italy and again today and been hard to beat, instead of that we were ****ing easy to beat. Unlike others on here I do think you can play Gerrard and Henderson but not as a central 2, play as a 3 . The only way you can be as open as we were is if you've got world class defenders, we have **** poor defenders that can only get by with plenty of protection. We should have played a 4-3-3 becoming a 4-5-1 when they had the ball. Why we persist with this "number 10" nonsense when we haven't got a world class 10 I dont know. Sven would have had us sat in , probably got 2 draws and then onto beat Costa Rica to go through. Boring maybe, but the result is the be all and end all of everything. We have not got the players or the brains to blow away top teams. Cole should have been there, lallana instead of rooney and id have even played that scapegoat Milner to tighten up the midfield. I thought Roy got caught between 2 stools this campaign , he wasn't given the job because he was an attack minded free flowing type of guy. He got where he is by being organised and difficult to break down, why he decided to try and be something hr wasn't god only knows Anyone who thinks we were unlucky tonight is deluding themselves.
  22. It was around '92, I had a ticket in a Liverpool section that day and they did applaud. Actually they were great with us, but then again they won 4-2 if I remember correctly.
  23. The one game I don't want on sky. 3pm sat and I have a great reunion with some old mates from up there. Sky games **** the whole travel/drinking time up. When do sky announce their games?
  24. Shocking, what a pile of pony. " The sun drenched city". FFS, I reckon the bloke ringing him with the mental disorder is Allen himself.
  25. Its not the same. When Rickie scored against the jocks I nearly burst with pride, I was on holiday in the hotel bar and I nearly took the roof off. As well as I want England to do, even if he scores the winner Thurs it won't feel liker that night.
