Koeman was exactly the type we needed last season , a calm head that was used to players moving on to bigger clubs and accepted it by just getting on with the job .However, I'm not convinced he's anything other than an OK manager . I share others disappointment with the devolopment of our youth , but it's a chicken & egg situation. Would Poch have played more nippers , maybe , although he did take weeks to play Kane regularly. I do think Poch made 4/5 of our players better , I'm not convinced Ron has done that for any player . Maybe RB , although he's been poor lately .

Has it finally sunk in ? We've been on this journey since day one . The EU want the relationship between nations to be the same as England is with Scotland . Makes me laugh , how many of our experts on here would have taken Allbrighton or Drinkwater this time last season , how many would have ( or did if I remember rightly) complain about Conner wickham when were linked to him? The thing I like about Townsend is he carries the ball quickly , something we never really did under Poch and apart from Mane , something we don't really do now. Most European managers who play 2 up front will play 3 at the back as that means having 5 in midfield as they're obsessed about being outnumbered in midfield. I'm really surprised Leicester play 4 , especially with an Italian manager. I would make this point about Leicester . Vardy is on fire , unbelievable run. Had Mane been as hot , where would we be. Newcastle first day he missed a couple at the end, utd home we murdered them, villa missed a simple header . City away at 2-1 we were knocking on the door, we started well against Everton. We should never under estimate the impact a guy who scores in 11 out of 12 games . The confidence of the rest will grow and grow as the striker wins tight games for you ,and you get on a roll. Personally I think mane is as good as Vardy , but he's having a career defining spell. Not knocking Leicester as you cant discount vardy, they signed him & picked the formation. However , lets see what happens if he hits a sticky spell. If Mane scores 11 in the next 2 months , we'll be banging on the door of Europe . Kane last year , Vardy this, makes more difference than formations

I'm surprised that this hasn't been made more of. Yoshida tried to cushion a header to Davis rather than just defend . People bang on about Leicester, Palace & Stoke and how well they're doing . The simple fact is these sides defend properly , they play in the oppositions final third but defend when defending is needed . We seem to want to play in areas our players aren't capable of playing in .I'm not talking about knocking it long over and over as we did in Denmark , but playing %'s when defending . Had Yoshida just headed the ball back into their half or even in to touch , we could have got back into shape .

LVG wrote that Koeman is too soft with players . Now I know tonight's not ideal to be quoting LVG , however there's worrying signs he could be right .

Nonsense . It was everything to do with the players . They wanted it more than us . Both wing backs were poor , big vic is going through the motions , Long missed a sitter & Mane played for himself . None of that had anything to do with system and all to do with lack of desire or talent . I thought that particular system suits the players we had today . Had we played another system , we'd still have got beat . If you don't tackle , track runners or finish chances it doesn't make a blind bit of difference which formation you play . Players need to take a good hard look at themselves .

It's more a 4-2-3-1 than a 4-3-3 surely . The issue for me is the lack of movement and switching around of positions as and when the play dictates . Under Poch Rickie would find himself out where Lallana plays or JRod would pop up down the middle . Tadic just stands out wide left or wide right like an old fashioned winger . Pelle ( apart from early on yesterday ) plays in straight lines and never works the channels , he never pulls off onto the full backs , like Rickie used to . I don't know if it's a macho thing but he seems to just want to stand up and battle the centre halves all day long . When , like The Liverpool pair he's getting nothing out of them , why not pull off onto the young nipper at full back . Stek's pretty accurate with his kicking and I'm sure the full back won't relish a battle with that big lump anymore than Lovren would relish Mane chasing pelles flick on . If you're a big ugly centre half we must be a dream to play against , as you can just stand in the middle of the back 4 and battle with Pelle . When do we ever shift centre halves into areas they're uncomfortable in?

He's a right footed Andrew Surman , may have a premiership career at a yoyo club , but no way he'll ever deliver on the hype . If he plays for England , then we really will be pony . Has not progressed anywhere near enough to justify any hope he'll be the next big thing. Good at bouncing the ball prior to a free kick or corner , shame he's not 6ft 9 as he maybe better at basket ball .

I like 3 at the back particularly with VvD able to bring the ball out and the full backs we have . Just not sure it's the right thing against Palace especially if Tadic plays . I haven't a clue how palace play , but with only 4 in midfield surely they'll be able to overload on Vic & RO and pull Cedric & Ryan in a touch . If their wingers get a run at Yoshida & Fonte as our wide centre halves , god help us . If Davis or even Classie play in a central 3 then it maybe better . Personally I'd go for a 4-5-1 doubling up on their wingers , but leaving a 3 in centre midfield . The only problem is you'll have to drop Pelle and play someone with a bit more movement as the lone striker . Long , or maybe Mane .

Why would anyone not want them ? There will be a cup draw someday so let's get it on whilst they're in Div 4 , we're halfway up the league with players like Mane , Pelle , VVD , Vic & Tadic and more importantly have a manager that takes the cup seriously . There won't be a better time .

Maybe we should play Cedric in front of Yoshida . Go for a very defensive 4-5-1 . Doubling up on both their wingers with either Ryan B in front of Martina or somebody disiplined to play in front of RB . Although not his greatest fan JWP is quite tactically aware and maybe could do that . Then play Big Vic and RO to stop Cabaye , with Davis playing slightly forward of those 2 and Mane up top alone to hit them on the break . Would be boring as hell , but 0-0 would do for me . Palace are better when they can break quickly , if we sit 2 banks of 4 and a worker like Davis in the 10 role , they'll struggle to break us down .
