  1. God, some of you are really falling for this nonsense. " lots of money coming in " and " up to the board " is just ****ing code for " if I get an offer from arsenal or spurs I can leave and blame the board". He's not showing any more class than lovren or lallana , he's just more media savvy, and some of you mugs are falling for it. Captain material, my arris. A captain would say they can't wait to get back to to the club, can't wait to work with RK. Captain material would be standing by the club and standing firm, not wanting your cake and ****ing eating it. " He'll stay if we make quality signings" , what is he the chief scout, the new Brian Clough, do we have to run signings by him. He'll stay if arsenal or spurs don't want him, not out of choice.
  2. I would like to see him play in a 3 at the back or playing in front of the back 4. He strikes me as a pretty versatile guy, but I dont think right side of midfield would suit his game. Maybe Clyne could do it, but I dont think its as easy to switch full backs to wide mid as it appears, particularly in the modern game. You could fit them both in if Chambers was the right sided centre back in a 3 , with Clyne as the wing back.
  3. How are " the dream is over" crowd going to sell this one. Did Rupey Lowe promise him cl football and kl has now crushed that dream.
  4. Did Peter Risdale live in a cheap flat and drive a cheap car?
  5. Seeing as the champions league is the holy grail of football, and Nicola was quite capable of taking a club like ours there , I'm surprised he isn't back working in football. Let's face it, he managed to persuade all these players, poch , plus their agents, accountants and assorted advisors that we were top 4 bound. Surely clubs all over Europe and England will be banging on his door to head up their " project" . I just don't get it.
  6. This nonsense about being funded by kl and not Marcus really gets to me. Do people seriously believe that had Marcus not passed on we'd make the top 4? Its ****ing nonsense, don't get me wrong I'm grateful for what the guy did, but he did the easy bit. We were the biggest side in league one and one of the biggest in the championship. To make top 4 in the modern game is akin to someone like yeovil or boscombe making the premiership. A club of our size may make it, but it'll need a freak set of circumstances that come round once a century. I will bet anyone that by the time my youngest , who is 13 , reaches 60, not one club of our stature will play in the champions league. If you look at last season. Man utd were shocking, Chelsea never had a centre forward, even man c were up and down. We had our best team for a generation and never got anywhere near it. **** me, even in those circumstances, Everton and spurs who have been around the top 4 for a decade , couldn't do it. If any players say that they believed the " project" would result in top 4, they are either the biggest ****wits in ****witvillie deluded by ****wittery or are liars.
  7. I don't know what's more embarrassing , the pathetic advert placed by lallana or some of our supporters reaction to losing a " loved one". FFS I wish people would stop acting like dumped teenagers. As with most things it's not black or white, there's shades of grey. Clattenburgs gone from zero to hero and Adams headed in the other direction, why? Because a professional footballer moved clubs. I still remember the abuse Bally took returning with man c, although I bet we'd be hard pressed to find anyone admitting to abusing him, it was probably blokes who don't go anymore lol. Its ironic he's gone to Liverpool seeing as their supporters are run down all the time for playing the victims, I wish we'd stop playing the victim over this. Putting an ad in the Liverpool echo, how Mickie mouse is that?
  8. Other players have said the same and gone. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8495057/rickie-lambert-would-be-happy-to-end-his-career-at-southampton
  9. Lol, Shaw couldn't wait to get away. Do you really believe Lambert wouldn't have forced through a move to Liverpool in exactly the same manner if we'd rejected their offer. Its very easy to be gracious when you've got exactly what you wanted.
  10. FFS , forget about a pathetic banner , it'll make us look like right bitter chumps. There has only been a select few players in over 100 years of this club that have got us promoted and Adam is one of them. People should remember that before letting their emotions run away with them. It'll be a shame if this develops into a Frank Lampard -west ham situation, we should be better than that. People are obviously disappointed with what's been going on at the club but we're in danger of making Adam a scapegoat for the whole mess. Nobody knows what the true situation is, maybe he is a big head, but " footballer loves himself" is hardly a hold the front page moment. Until somebody from the club issues some sort of statement saying " we had no choice, he was refusing to play for us" , I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. The guys who gave us back to back promotions should be accorded some respect , even if they do act like twts in the end. I'm not saying cheer or clap the guy, but just let it go and move on .
  11. Seems strange that a bloke willing to go on strike he wants champions league so badly would sign for spurs.
  12. 70,000 people wont pay £45 plus to watch somebody give a old granny a bed bath or wipe her rear end, so I don't know what exactly your point is Viking.
  13. Very very risky buying players from the WC, look at that Gyan fella Sunderland bought. Too many players have the tournament of their lives and then are pretty average.
  14. For clarity could you explain the following ; What was " the project" Where would we finish in the league during " the project", average position. How much roughly would " the project " cost Who was going to fund " the project" At the end of " the project" , which football club would we be comparable to?
  15. FFS we have a 1963 page **** take of the skates on this forum, yet people are slagging off kl for not spending to take us to the next level. Peter Storrie used Gaydmaks money to take Pompey to the next level. Peter risdale took Leeds to the next level. I can't see much difference in the fantastic project of Nicola's than those two. OK , we may have supplemented our spending with a couple of home grown talents, but there's not that much difference. One thing about the project that's always puzzled me is that Nicola wanted half the team to come through the youth system. Where are all these champions league academy players lined up to come in during the next couple of seasons. It was all pie in the sky nonsense. A solid premier league side maybe, but no chance of 5 home grown players playing in the champions league for Southampton, complete and utter nonsense. It probably only Barcelona or Ajax or somebody bigger, but Southampton, no ****ing chance. The only chance we ever had is for a benefactor to spend billions, and I can't even believe Marcus would have done that.
  16. What "project" was that then? My project to **** Madonna ended when I got married.
  17. Why are people blaming the board? They are not actively looking to sell players, they do not want any players to leave, their business model is not based on developing and then selling on players. The players want to go and once that happens its pretty much a done deal in the modern game. That's why Nicola couldn't keep ox once his old man wanted him to go. That's why had Liverpool bid for Lambert under Nicolas leadership he'd have been gone. We are not a champions league team and there was never ever going to be a hope in hell of us being a champions league team, regardless of whether Marcus died or Nicola stayed. Look at what's happened to villa and thank kl that she seems to be a bit more sensible than them. The best we can hope for is Europa league and a cup win, which makes poch's attitude in the cups even worse. Here's a heads up to some of the depressed on here. If McQueen or Gallagher come good and reach champions league level, they'll move on. Get your heads round it, you've got a few years notice, start excepting it. Its not going to change, regardless of whether Williams, cortese or Ralph is running the club.
  18. A contract is something that your own players should always honour, but players you want to sign can break theirs. In simple terms Adam is a big headed **** and Liverpool a load of ******s for signing him, but jrod just wanted to play for a bigger club and we were perfectly within our rights to make an offer to Burnley. Hope this helps.
  19. What complete and utter pony. If you turn up next season they're not going to say "whoopsy, saints aren't playing, but we've arranged for Yeovil to take their place". You signed up to watch the players of Southampton Football Club play 19 other clubs. What do you want the club to do, issue a list of squad members before offering season tickets?
  20. Talksport reporting Arsenal in for him now.
  21. Utd are buying potential and with potential comes risk, will he kick on, will he stay injury free, will money change him. At the moment it is a great deal for us, as he stands now, he is replaceable for under half the money. Whether it remains a good deal depends on his progress during the next 4 years. However ,any valuation must take into account the diminishing amount of years left on his saints contract. The board obviously decided that this was the optimum moment to sell and looking from the outside I tend to agree. It doesn't matter if he becomes the best full back that ever played the game in 4 years time , because he becomes worth £0 once his contract runs out. He was never going to sign a new contract ,so the judgement then becomes , is it worth keeping a player for another year or two who wants away but we may get more than £34 million for? I personally think the risk is too great and the board have done the eighth thing. As an aside , him moving also ensures our acedemy continues to receive great reviews. Its a real selling point to the parents of the best youngsters that your kid can have a great football education, play in the first team early and still get a big move early in their career ( because of the way we've devoloped them)
  22. All the cases you mention happened whilst the player was representing his club. If Gaston gets a ban for an incident in Uruguay's next match, and that ban extends to saints games. Do you not think there will be many posters on here complaining about the unfairness of it? What if Morgan pushes the ref over ala d'cannio in the french game and is banned for 8 saints games, do you really think everybody on here will say " fair enough". Supporters are the same the country over, most are one eyed and will forgive their stars anything. Don't forget one of our greatest has admitted to spot fixing, but no saints fan really cares, whereas had glen Johnson admitted such a thing, our posters would want him banned from England teams for life. All football supporters are the same, Liverpool's aren't any different than any other clubs
  23. Very very selective quotes. There's plenty saying get rid or he's let the club down. There would be exactly the same % of morons on here sticking up for our best player if he did the same thing. Why do people on here seem to think we're somehow superior to people from Liverpool? I've met as many twts in Southampton as I've met in Liverpool.
  24. Perhaps she was dying for it.
  25. Agree, and I felt the same about Gaston coming on. I watched the Uruguay game rather than England in the hope he'd get on. The past few days I watched yoshida, MS and Gaston with more feeling than watching lallana and Shaw. I thought Morgan was excellent, only gave the ball away once, his pass completion must of been in the 90% area. Yes, it was a bit of a stroll and he gave simple passes, but I like the way he zipped the ball into peoples feet and looked very comfortable receiving it.
