Correct, Labour is being completely dishonest about this. The Torys and Darlings plan had a ciggie paper between them. I watched Harriot Harperson on QT last night and it was a woeful performance. Praising the leftie in France, despite his policies being completely opposite to Labour's. Complaining about every cut and every job loss, despite the fact that Labour planned to cut jobs. Blaming the Tories for all the woes now, but the American banks for all the woes when they were in office. Theo Paphitis hit the nail on the head. The "rich" give away more money than they try to "hide" in tax aviodence and the reason he gives money away is because if you give it to Governments, they waste it. What the Country needs to wake up to is that the word "cut" is being distorted by everyone. If I spent £1,000 on beer this year and then spend £850 on beer next year, that is a cut in the amount of money I spend on beer. If I spend £1000.10p on beer, that is not a cut, it is a below inflation increase. I dont think Mrs Duck will accept the arguemet that I have cut the money I spend on beer, despite it going up 10p. The opposition, the BBC and the unions are making out there are severe cuts in state spending, there are not. There needs to be, but nobody has the balls to do it. Slowing down spending increases is not a cut. You can bet your bottom dollar that by the end of the parliament state spending will have been cut by about 2%, and yet the Labour party will be deceiving everyone into believing that we have suffered severe "cuts".

This is obviously a sensitive subject and people need to tread carefully. What happened to the McCanns was horrific and nobody deserve what they are going through. Lets just hope and pray that she was "taken" by a childless couple and is being cared for, and is not suffering. That said, they must take some responsibility for what happened. We have 4 children and at no time have any of them been left alone until they reached about 13. We have had family holidays since my oldest was 6 months old, and if we wanted to go out, we took them with us. In fact, Mrs Duck would not be able to enjoy herself and relax, knowing that the kids were alone. Had I even suggested it, there would have been a massive row and I'm pretty sure she would speak out if friends of ours did it. It is just not done. Because they are middle class professional people and as pointed out earlier, she's a bit of a MILF. They have become the media darlings. Had it been a single Mum from Liverpool, she would be in hiding by now and more than likely had the other kids taken away by Social Services. If Maddie is found, they'll have to face her and answer the question "why did you leave me alone". I dont accept that they had anything to do with it, mainly because there is no body or eveidence. These were not professional hit man, who could dispose of evidence. I'm pretty sure that had there been a terrible accident, then they would not have been able to cover their tracks. Even the bodged police investigation would have turned up something.

Please don't embarrass us with any more clown costumes
Lord Duckhunter replied to dune's topic in The Saints
If it was every week, then maybe you would have a point. What's the harm in people dressing up for Xmas or last game. It's not like people go week in, week out in fancy dress. -
He's a decent bloke, who runs a good pub. It was a saints fan who kicked off with another saints fan in there after the game, nothing to do with him being a Skate. I spoke to him afterwards and he was saddened by the whole thing, couldn't understand why it would kick off on a day like that, when we were supposed to be celebrating. The bloke who kicked off was ****ed as a rat, and out of order, it happened right in front of us. On another note, Sky Sports News filmed the celebrations in there before it kicked off (the agrro, not the game), did anyone ever see any footage of it because I haven't seen any mention of it.

Please don't embarrass us with any more clown costumes
Lord Duckhunter replied to dune's topic in The Saints
What makes Westwood "unique" is that he turns up every week dressed as a tw*t,same as that Tango guy, whereas most other clubs confine it to Santas at Xmas and the end of season. I used to quite like a theme, I remember flat caps and squeeky dog's toys at a game away at West Ham as a "tribute" to Alan Ball. Wasn't there also a Frannie tribute one year? Perhaps that's the way to go, last away game of the season have a theme. I cant see any harm in that. Maybe this year it should have been mullet's after NA's Utube Tranmere thing. Personally, I wear what I wear and that's it. But is there any harm in the "fashion police" relaxing the rules for the Xmas game, and the last away or home game of the season? Surely there are more important things in life than worrying about what people wear to football. -
Mine was leaving London Road and hearing that West Ham had only drawn at Bristol City. Changed the whole nature of the away game at Boro and meant a win against Cov would be enough.

Paul Hayward on Sunday Supplement
Lord Duckhunter replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
I saw the Programme and thought Hayward was a right tit. The other Journo's , including Martin Samuel (who has had pops at NC before) were praising us and Nigel in particulary. Hayward had a right bee in his bonnet. Even said that Nigel was difficult and gave nothing away. He did come across as very bitter. My mate works for the press and he does get very bitter if anyone doesn't give them a free reign. All he is interested in is someone who is good copy. It's why they love Redknapp, he gives them what they want and panders to them. It's why none of them have mentioned the elephant in the room when it comes to the England job, not guilty he may have been, but that doesn't mean he's not dodgy. The FA were right about Brian Clough , he was a p155 head and was also dodgy around bungs, and they're right about Redknapp, but the press wont write it because he's good copy. -
My Fav was Millwall away.

I have been to Kos a couple of times and it is a fantastic place. The people are friendly and the beaches are lovely. I would have said it's more of a couples/family place than a lads holiday. I found kardamena to be a bit of a dump,I went in to watch Saints V Plymouth on the oppenning day of the season. There were plenty of bars and people handing out leaflets ect, but the place wasn't very big.

They are called UKIP for a reason, how can they be too Europe focused? The politicans of all the major parties have lied to us time and time again over Europe and the English people are fed up with it. How else do you explain UKIP and the Torys cleaning up at the last European elections? As for quoting Simon Hughes as some sort of QT star. Is this the same Simon Hughes that ran a throughly dishonest and homophobic campaign to get elected in the first place? He is a typical sandal wearer and sums up that party completely. They run right wing campaings in Tory areas and left wing ones in Labour areas. They have been found out good and proper over a number of issues, tuition fees being the main one. They lie and try to be all things to all men, always have done and always will. I look forward to the day when their number of MP's are back to 1970's levels, because that's where they are heading.
-
But we were a similar standard and we had pretty decent players. They are the worst away side in the League and playing the kids. It would be a major major upset if we lost. You dont get major upsets when such a poor team has nothing to play for.
-
I can not see any way that we wont win on Sat, in fact I have never been more confident of anything in my 40 years of watching football. Yes, there have been shocks over the years, losing to lower league teams, 3-0 up against Tranny is one that springs to mind. As well as us producing some over the years. But, I can not recall a shock, a rear guard action, a travisty of a result, in which the result didn't matter to one of the teams. Had Tuesday been a group stage game, with Chelsea already out and Barca needing a win, they would have won 3 or 4. What kept Chlelsea going was prize at the end. What is Cov's prize? A round of applause from 1500 fans, a pat on the back from Andy Thorn, hero worship in Portsmouth and West Ham? Sit back and enjoy. If we were given any fixture Sat, we would have hand picked this one. Even Donny have players on their day, that can perform, Cov dont. It's not like their Manager is some sort of tactical genius that can inspire his men and lead them to a great victory. They are down and out, playing youngsters and facing the second best side in this league, which includes the best strike force in the League. 4-1 Saints.

Complete and utter nonsense............

How does this game rate in the last 50 years?
Lord Duckhunter replied to stev2001's topic in The Saints
This is a massive game because of the fall out if we lose it. The '76 final although our greatest moment, did not carry the same consequences if we lost. If we dont go up, we could be kissing goodbye to RL & AL and what will the impact be on Marcus' family? There were a few sides like Leicester that have underperformed this season and we have (fingers crossed) taken advantage. My opinion is that the West Ham game of Alan Ball's era was the biggest I can remember, had we gone down, there would have been no SMS, Le Tiss would have gone, and we would still be grubbing around looking for a new ground............. -
Thank **** Mrs Duck doesn't want to come to football with me, she takes long enough to get ready for a night out. I couldn't stand waiting around whilst she checked with our neighbour's wife that she looked ok. God forbid if she turned up in The chapel, and someone was wearing the same gear............

It was a yellow not a red and I'm sure the Ref will be reminded of this during his debrief or whatever the assesor does with him. On the FLS they said that he had only sent 2 people off in 40 odd games, so maybe it wasn't a question of bottle, just that he likes to keep 11 men on the pitch. As for game changing, it clearly was. It would have been the best passing side in the league against 10 men, with the 10 men needing a win. Personally, I think we would have passed them to death and in their desperation of having to score we would have picked them off and won 3 or 4-1. That said the disgraceful peno given at SMS against Brighton was also a game changer, so you have to take the rough with the smooth. Ref's are the reason I want the race over tonight, we do not want to leave it to chance on Sat. An early Ref howler Sat and we could be up against it.

If we get promoted will we have bus tour around city?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
No need for a bus tour round the city. That's for when you bring something back. The players and staff deserve our thanks and I've thought of a rather old fashioned way to do it. People stay/go back to their seats and then the players, and staff do a lap of honour,in front of 30,000 Saints fans. -
But it's not for us to judge other people's support. I hate the ****ing contest and my Dad's bigger than your Dad's attitude of some fans. Everybody leads different lives, has different priorities and outgoings. I am comfortable with my support and know that I go to every game that I can, that's all that matters to me. What I object to about this thread is the way a dig at other supporters has been twisted round to have a pop at the players. The implication is that they didn't try because we didn't sell out the away end. I find that quite offensive, and as a supporter of a a group of players that have made me very proud this season, complete and utter nonsense. I would like the OP to have 5 minutes with Nigel, or Rickie or maybe Danny Fox and tell them " I dont think you could be bothered on Sat". What sort of response would that get, what sort of supporter would they think he was?
-
On the train back Sunday we were stood talking about the game (bloody train was overcrowded and no seats) A guy tapped me on the shoulder and intriduced himself as a Cov supporter. Told us not to worry, they are shiete. Said that they were playing kids that were just not good enough, said Lambert will have a field day against their centre backs and that we'll win 4 or 5, at least. I said our worry was freezing on the day and them having nothing to play for. He said if that happened it maybe 2 or 3 only. He said they are about the level of a Championship reserve side. He said that Donny had good players who if they relaxed could cause an upset, but that Cov were just not good enough, or mentally tough enough to stand up to a full house and a top side determined to win. Hope he's right...........
-
You are joking right? If your "theory" was right, how come the Boro players put their all into it, when their support was pathetic? Maybe it's just Saints players that only try when we sell out. Or maybe you just wanted to have a pop at fans who didn't go, and tried to word the thread in oh such a clever way. Could we change the thread to something that reflects what a wonderful supporter you are, and leave the players out of it. Someone who thinks that this season our players only try when they feel like it, can hardly go around lecturing people about support. If you think that, I suggest you dont know alot about football. Because in my opinion the players have been fantastic this season and have given their all, whther there are 3,000 there or 30,000. I was there on Saturday but dont believe that makes me any better or any worse than any other supporter.
-
I had 2 taxi drivers, plus a train gurad say how good our support was when I was up there. For a late KO and on the TV I thought the numbers were pretty decent. I even read a report in paper prasising our support. I didn't wear fancy dress, but dont think it's any of my business what people wear to football.

I am fat, middle aged and quite like sitting down at football. I enjoy a few pints mixing with the locals and go to about 10 away games a season. Had there been nothing on this game, I wouldn't have gone. But worked out when the tickets first went on sale that this could well be the one, wanted my older boys and nipper to be there, so we're going. Is this allowed? I can't work out whether I am a plastic, an elderly person a middle-aged drip, or a laddish fan. I preferred it in the pre internet days, when I was just a Southampton supporter. But like i phones, Twitter , Facebook, and other modern things, working out what category of fan I am confusses me.............

One of the true greats of Rock music passed away yesterday. Levon Helm, fantastic drummer, great singer, he will be sadly missed.

Whoever the **** was who started "we're top of the league" owes me for the cost of 2 mobile calls home, plus it ****ed Mrs Duck off when I was shouting at her "put Sky Sports news on, what's the Reading score". Before giving up and calling my mate, only to be told 0-0. I thought the Wotsit chant was quite funny, but I wouldn't have laughed if I realised I wasn't meant to, and that made me "uncool".
-
WE cant really afford it, but I told my Mrs that I wanted my nipper to be at the promotion party. He's been to the last 6, with my Brother in law taking him to Palace when I had to work.Staying up in Boro sat night, and would love it if it's job done up there. Personally I think to gain promotion such a long way from home, would be a fantastic reward for our great travelling support.
