A point for Sunderland means they are safe as long as Wigan don't beat Arsenal AND Villa (alternatively one of Norwich or Newcastle pick up less than 2 points). A point for us means we only need at most a draw against Stoke to be safe. And we can lose* to Stoke if Wigan fail to beat Arsenal and Villa, OR Villa lose against Chelsea, OR Newcastle fail to win one of their last 2 matches, OR Norwich fail to win one of their last 2 matches, OR Sunderland lose to Spurs, OR we lose by only 1 goal to Stoke and Sunderland fail to beat Spurs. This has 0-0 written all over it. * Non-cricket score.

You also said we'd lose each of the previous 6 games before the WBA game. And we didn't.

Even if they were guaranteed 4th place (which they won't be), they would still want to win to get to 3rd place. The top 3 have automatic CL qualification, whereas the 4th placed team has to play a qualifying CL match next season.

I hear the away end is sold out tonight.
