Fees were going up exponentially, and unless he had a serious injury I reckon we'd have got a lot more 12 months later, especially if he'd had another season with us of the quality he had from the beginning with Liverpool. Well England's record has "improved" to about 30% because we've won a couple with a manager who takes them seriously. I can only remember Germany losing once (the first time, against Czechoslovakia in the final - they learnt their lesson there).
