  1. If we perform like we have done in the last eight home games and nine away games we will get 81 points Not as good as last season but OK for second spot probably If the other clubs perfom as they have done this season Brighton 93 points Bournemouth 78 Huddersfield 77 Charlton 72 Peterborough 72
  2. Me too We do have a squad with very good experienced players Davis Butterfield Fonte Jaidi Hammond Chaplow Lambert Plus some very good younger players OXO Schederlein Lallana and Gully Plus better than average League 1 players Richardson Dickson Barnard and Harding So what Adkins has achieved so far I think is only par as I am constantly expecting some really good results but both results and performances have been slightly disappointing recently so lets hope for six points in the next week. If we dont beat both Swindon and Walsall which we should do comfortably I think most fans will be a little concerned about Promotion although I cannot really see us not finishing in the top six
  3. I AGREE WITH WINDOW CLEANER By the way what has adkins done which makes him good He has done OK but I would have thought that most managers would have done as well and possibly better
  4. The differences between Southampton and Brighton are 1 Brighton have not sacked their manager this season 2 Brighton have enhanced their team whereas Saints have a new RB and Guly 3 Brighton probably do not have a CEO demanding Promotion
  5. Eight points from our last five games is that good enough?
  6. Yes I was going to suggest that title too
  7. I think I would be worried if I was a Charlton Huddersfield or Bournemouth Supporter
  8. Ray was the third best of the brothers But both Rodney and Danny were very good. I saw Danny make his debut at Old Trafford and as he played once for England I will go for him
  9. Yes there were lots of great goals at the Dell in that era but the best one I remember is the David Burnside Equaliser in 1963 v Nottm Forest in the 6th Round of the Cup. The Dell was absolutely full in fact we were heading for the Milton Road End but it was so crowded we ended up under the East Stand 3 0 down with 12 mins to go and we ended up 3 3 and thrashed them 5 0 at Tottenham in the second replay apart from 1976 the best match I ever saw
  10. Although Gabriel was an attacking Wing Half he like Dave Walker became a member of the back four with No 5 on his back - there were no squad numbers then But we played 4 2 4 not 2 3 5 I thought
  11. Yes I remember listening to that goal on the Radio in Paris
  12. I am really pleased that you don’t read the Daily Mail but I am not sure you fully understand the Economy of the UK which has had other periods of high budget deficits during recent years. So it is a common economic occurrence as we have all had to pay for the policies of past governments so I think it is a little dramatic the way you are describing the situation . I do accept that the current budget deficit is high but this due to the bailout of the banks during the global financial crisis if the Labour Government had not acted in the manner it did supporting the banks the situation would be a great deal worse . With regard to other comments about the cuts I fully support the Labour plan of reducing the defect within four years as this would give a better chance for the economy to grow with less unemployment and loss of public services. A lot of the cuts in my borough will affect children and young people by withdrawing support for pre school age children and support for young adults to get into employment as well as young carers. I think the more we can do for children and young people to reach their full potential the better it will be for them and society in general. But the extra cuts being made by the Tories will probably lead here to more teenage pregnancies and trouble with teenagers because of the withdrawal of help for troubled families. Most redundancies will affect some local people and cause concern to them as well as reducing tax income and probably increasing the welfare bill
  13. Possibly could be our entry into the European Song Contest
  14. I do not know anything about Mitchell so I cannot comment bournemouth are doing really well at the moment and should be congratulated on what they have achieved this season on limited resources
  15. 84 will probably be enough to get into second position I would have thought I cannot see other clubs getting more than 84 apart from Brighton Spreading betting site is interesting http://bettingzone.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-one/total-points
  16. I dont really see what Nick I has done wrong It was quite obvious the club was in the wrong in the first place which has now been agreed by an independent organisation I think that Mr cortese may not understand that most people he has found fault with want the club to succeed and fans to be treated fairly I certainly want that myself
  17. I dont think the comment from the club was required. LM has been the clubs most successful manager and some recogonition from the club would not be out of order. Hopefully one day another manager will be as sucessful as Lawrie or even better
  18. As I am a lot older than you the best days for me as a Saints fan were the 60/70/early 80s when MLT was not around so I was very lucky But I still go to St Mary's and support the team through thick and thin but do not expect to see Saints to be truly successful again in my lifetime because of the way football is today. OXO will go and unlike Terry Paine MLT and Mick Channon will have very little influence on our future except for his transfer money
  19. Yep I agree with you Dune Just dont understand the clubs stance and the stance of some of the posters who dont appear to be acting objectively
  20. Sometimes your pontifications make me laugh Davis is one of the better members of our squad
  21. I doubt it with all the negative comments in the press regarding Cortese some justified some not it is not surprising that people outside Southampton think poorly of him.
  22. According to the bookies we are odds on for promotion in from 8/13 to 8/15 so they are more confident than lots of our supporters
  23. I agree that the Club should be run as a business which I am sure it was when it was a PLC but some decisions have proved to be petty. Tesco I think is run as a business and some things it does helps the customer as well as the community and its profitability. I doubt whether Tesco would charge for Parking and not let local charities collect money outside
  24. Although it is not a big thing there still remains the fact that at the moment we dont know if any current staff are going to the event and if not why not. It will be a shame if some dont attend and mix with some of the great players I have seen in the Red and White Stripes and Yellow of Southampton and played in some great not to be forgotten games. The Daily Mail like all newspapers tries to put on slant to get the widest publicity but there might something behind their story as apparently SFC did not respond to an invitation from the the organisers if they had I doubt whether there would have been a story but only time will tell. Dont really know why people get so upset with others reading of the situation because in 99% of the cases the poster has no idea of what has really happened
  25. I wonder if Rupert has been invited?
