  1. We were just about OK first half but awful second half. As Danny Murphy said we spend more time on the ball and less on getting the ball in the box. We are also a small side so every ball pumped forward in the air is food and drink for the opposition. Adam Lallana best player on the pitch
  2. Indeed. What category would it fall into if someone in the Royal household had asked Harry...'Do you think your offspring will be a Ginger like you and your Dad?...
  3. I was never too sure of his value to the club. However although he hasnt given me the same pleasure as the likes of Terry Paine, Mick Channon and MLT, JWP's progress through the club's ranks must be appreciated. He has shown commitment, skill and goal scoring ability from set pieces. He also has the happy knack of avoiding injury. Well done JWP.
  4. Wes, Are there people claiming the problem with Liberty Steel is due to Brexit? I have a good friend who sold a business to Sanjeev Gupta and he told me he was a 'character' (ie a Chancer) So as a Remainer this is not something that can be laid at Brexit's door. i do feel a lot of sympathy with the people who's jobs may be affected by the problem though.

    Loanees

Long & Valery on the bench for Bournemouht & Birmingham and Vokins not involved at Sunderland. Slattery injured and Lemina scored the winner for Fulham. Are there any other of our loan players I've missed (Josh Sims?) On a separate note I notice Lloyd Isgrove is now playing at Bolton.
  6. The 'My Club' piece featured Iwan Thomas's support of his adopted club (his Dad was a Spurs fan) Also Alyson Rudd providing an insight into Ralphs 'incessant' input from the sideline during games which is particularly noticeable in empty stadia. Apparently he is like this on the Training field also.

    Armstrong

I thought he looked a player in his first pre season game at SMS after signing from Celtic. In my opinion he then lost his way for a while and I assume this was due to a fitness thing and a rather powder puff approach to tackling. More recently he has become an integral part of the first team both with and against the ball and with an added bonus of being able to score from midfield. He has definitely turned into a positive signing. Well done Stuart!!
  8. No Sunday trading. Shops shut Wednesday afternoon. Only 2 TV stations (which close down at 11.00hrs) Return of £.s.d. Re-opening of coal mines. Smoking to be re-introduced as a health related product. Leather footballs and boots with studs nailed in. Corporal punishment in school. Death Penalty. Oh and the return of compulsory National Service.
  9. I remember going to Anfield in my younger days and there was a church not far from the ground which had a sign outside which said........................................'WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF JESUS CAME BACK?.......................................................................................... Underneath someone had scrawled....................'Move St John to inside right'...................... Made I laugh!!
  10. Apparently Calum Slattery injured his knee last week whilst on loan at Gillingham and is our for a month or more so our crocked players list extends beyond our boundaries. Wonder if he has to return to Southampton for treatment?
  11. What a turnround!! Prior to this (rather horrific) run of results most people were concerned Ralph going off to manage Spurs or other bigger clubs. I am very concerned about the situation but we have suffered from a run of bad decisions by officials and injuries. Still I suppose even the likes of Klopp are under scrutiny from some Liverpool fans and Neil Lennon has had to go after one bad season in an otherwise stellar domestic performance at Celtic.
  12. Interesting to note that Celtic were beaten by bottom club Ross County and Elyounoussi managed to garner a rating of 3.27 for the game. Appreciate this isnt much of an indication but it was the lowest of any of the Celtic players. Doesnt give us much hope of recovering any of the clubs original investment.
  13. Although voting to remain in the EU, I was willing to accept there was the possibility I was misguided and the majority of people who voted for Brexit (including some good friends of mine) were right. I still hope that, over the course of time, this proves correct. However the more I see things evolving, the less benefit there seems. I appreciate that some things have been adversely affected by Covid but it would be helpful if the Brexiteers on here could explain what benefits have been achieved since our exit from the EU. The worry to me is that the not unexpected teething problems are likely to turn into a long term toothache which, for those of us who have suffered from the complaint, is not nice.
  14. What would be our position without Ings goals I wonder?
  15. Harlee Dean...ex Saint!!
  16. Can we add Armstrong as a hit?
  17. On his way to Liverpool at the end of the season!!😬
  18. Would Salisu be cover at LB too?
  19. 'Inchy' Heath. We were the better team on the day despite having a half fit Steve Williams. Created more chances then got done in the final few minutes from a throw in, just in front of us, which should have gone our way. As a consequence a cross was put in that hit a bit of dislodged turf and flew up at the right height for Adrian Heath. I think our fans were relatively naughty after the final whistle and the desperation of the day spilt over onto the pitch where they gave a good account of themselves (not that is to be condoned) We then played Everton at the Dell the following mid week and won quite comfortably. I would have been confident that the Saints team would have beaten Watford in the Final.
  20. I was ski ing in Italy and there was a group of Watford fans in our hotel. One of them told me one morning in the queue for the ski lift that Keegan has signed for Saints. Of course I didn't believe it and as there were no mobile phones or internet, I had to wait for the morning newspapers to be delivered the next day to confirm the news. They were exciting times which unfortunately me having to work most Saturdays so could really only see mid week games!!
  21. I am really glad that Bednarek had his red card rescinded. Not that I have any sympathy for the individual or the club but David Luiz's red should have been rescinded too.
  22. The additional worry to me is that the issue with the Uighurs in China added to the potential problems in Hong Kong and Taiwan could lead to political issues affecting Chinese business men. Mind you similar problems may have affect Russian owners as a consequence of their financial dealings. It would just be nice to find an owner who can stabilise our financial position and have a bit of capital left owner to move us forward. A big ask perhaps!!
  23. I have been told from a reasonable source that the DaGrosa takeover was moving forward but Gao decided up the sale price from £200m to £250m when Saints were hovering around the top of the table. Anyone heard anything similar?
  24. Fingers crossed it snows like b*ggery in the North East and the game is cancelled to allow another week to aid players recovery. If not can see another thrashing in prospect!!
  25. I blame the rain. It was pissing down on both occasions and, as we are from the sunny south, we dont like moisture.
