Those who are old will remember that a "Prince Charles" saving stamp was worth 5 "Princess Anne" savings stamps. Whatever happened to savings stamps, gave the royal kids something to do, contributed to the nation like..

Well yes, when Sigurdsson and Shelvey long range efforts sail into top corners you think that's great, what you don't see is all of the efforts that sail into row Z and hit corner flags. Take Shelvey, stats say he's on 2 shots at goal a game, 29 games so that makes 58 shots, 3 of them are goals so the other 55 aren't. Long range pile-drivers are great when they go in, not so much when the keeper picks them off or they go over the top or wide. Morgan has scored more goals than Shelvey I think in less games and about half as many shots.

Seems to be some tunnel vision around here, now in this thread we discuss players who have been linked with a move to Saints, there are 4 or 5 of them at least, mostly young players, a striker,Clasie,Vilhena a couple of AMs, a keeper. Reed is saying that we've no intention of selling players...yeah right and that for the purposes of a competition which starts in just a couple of months if we qualify in 6th or 7th place we'll be relying on academy players to make up the extra numbers required. Can no-one see that there is some sort of contradiction here? Either we're not selling and not buying or we're buying a few of the above targets and we won't need to use the academy players who can't get a game now in a few weeks time. It just doesn't make any sense.
-
It would also be extremely short lived. We will probably be going into Saturday's game with zero academy players in the starting line up, from there to 5 or 6 in a Europa League qualifier is a far stretch of the imagination. Reed can say what he likes, Koeman's actions don't seem to back any of it up. At least Mauricio made an effort, didn't we have 5 or 6 academy players on the pitch at times last season ?.

The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread
Window Cleaner replied to The9's topic in The Saints
Perhaps our new shirt will be like those that the academy kids are wearing on the front page of the OS today. Looks alright. -
Probably just the sea air at Palavas...I was down there the other day and some old bloke stopped me on the prom and ticked me off for wearing a running shirt advertising the Belgian Lottery.
-
And yet we're running after the midget ultralightweight Clasie.
-
Which is of course, your intrinsic right. That said he ain't coming back and he ain't going to the Cherries.
-
How on earth are we going to finance all of these "aquisitions", we're not selling apparently but we're going to spend another 40 or 50 million if you believe the popular press, Kate had better start digging around in her handbag again. Not to mention just a 4 million £ increase in salary mass, tea ladies will have to take a pay cut then.,
-
Why ? They have their own strikers, no doubt at far lesser salaries than Lambert, just can't see the obsession with this bloke, he went where he wanted to go, he's been handsomely rewarded for doing that, now he needs to justify their faith in him.
-
Nothing to do with the transfer fee, it's about salary, he probably gets double there and we'll not match that, anyway who even knows if Koeman would want him, he has his man, he'll have JRod, he's looking at others, Lambert is a non-starter, especially at 80K a week. I wouldn't want him back, for me he's finished, he had a few decent games last season but he had some stinkers as well, now the stinkers are the norm.
-
It is not going to happen because we won't pay enough.

I don't think Wenger bought Chambers as a RB, if he'd wanted a RB he'd have kept Jenkinson there instead of loaning him to West Ham. Wenger thought he could make a ball playing CB out of Chambers...he got it wrong, the lad was a disaster at CB from day 1.
-
In fact recruitment managers may look at our 5 exiles and ask themselves if it wasn't the system that made the players look better than they actually are. Really doubt if anyone will splurge on a Saints player this summer without thinking it over a great deal. All 5 have been relatively poor compared to last season.
-
He's on the bench for the U21s I think.
-
Not my expectations, we sold players, we bought other players for the princely sum of around 70 million £ plus a WC defender on loan at a no doubt astronomic salary (for us anyway), the second part of the season has been a rank failure especially as the manager was speaking of CL qualification up to about a month ago..

JWP Sending off - are Saints going to appeal this ?
Window Cleaner replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
Depends what the official reason for the red card is I suppose, only seen the video but the challenge looks decidely rustic and might even be considered as an over zealous tackle from behind. Guess we'll find out tomorrow when the FA updates the suspenson lists. -

Bank Oliday innit -
Probably too old
-
Don't think it works like that at all. Newcastle have already tried it.http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/scores/live.html Not that any of them are any much use anyway, barring Boruc of course and there's no chance of him ever playing for us again.

Schniderlin to spurs for players plus cash???
Window Cleaner replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
Provided of course Arsenal can't find anyone cheaper to do the job, the price tag is too high for them and they won't pay anywhere near what we'd probably want. They have options which will cost far less. -
Perhaps he likes getting relegated...folks are strange.

Morgan out until the end of the season
Window Cleaner replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Equipe says that Koeman said three, four or five weeks. Is that right or are they making up as they go along again.
