  1. That's wrong ART, the government are going to tax clubs on salaries over 1 million euros per annum at 75% of the exceeding amount. The players won't have to pay, just the clubs. So a player on say 7 million euros a year (Gourcuff) will cost Lyon 4.5 million extra in tax over and above the already insane social charges. French football will be reduced to kids and Africans who'll play for virtually nothing in a few years time. Anyway there are no players worth having in France any more, all virtually gone the day Hollande got elected, Qatar FC excepted of course but as they sting us for their oil and own half of Paris it's just a money go round for them..
  2. Any of them actually play football in Belgium because Anderlecht were one of the shîtest teams I've ever seen in the CL last night.
  3. Cabella won't come cheap but really you have to ask yourself just how good a player from French Ligue 1 really is. Yanga-Mbiwa was supposed to be the bee's bollicks but really he's distinctly average. Ligue 1 is a very poor championship these days, most NPC teams could hold their own with everything apart from Qatar FC. Mayuka gets a game at Sochaux, wasn't really in our first team plans, the list is endless.
  4. He'll get back up with QPR this season and then probably call it a day, maybe one more season provided they aren't heading for the trap door again..
  5. Not really because he's got a couple of sides promoted to the PL these last years, he can get promotion but then he's out of his depth pretty quickly. Once again it's about being able to recognise a PL player when he sees one and then knowing what to do with him. I just can't repeat enough just how good you need to be to be even a bog average PL player simply because of the standard of the opposition.
  6. It's not the manager who can't keep them up it's the rabble that play for them, they have not one superior player in any single department of the game.
  7. Might have had 4 points (win against Villa and a draw against Fulham ?) Fair few goals though, 15 or so perhaps, shedload in the against column, nigh on 30 i'd guess..
  8. People were saying similar things about us last season regarding relegation, us and Villa I think, neither of us went down. Sunderland may well buck up a bit but even we had more points than they have last season, can't say the same for Palace. Could be that there is only one relegation place to be decided after only 8 games, Saints could well be safe by the end of November .
  9. At least we sold him for about half of what we paid, don't know how much of his contract we eventually had to subsidise though. They just wrote this bloke off, lock stock and barrel.
  10. not if he resigned, not being manager of Palace can't not be a good thing.Perhaps he's disappointed by the level of investment. I mean who'd really want to try to get results out of that pile of crap for another 30 PL games this season.
  11. The Palace squad was awfully managed this summer though. They signed a bloke from Bordeaux for a few bob and then just simply didn't include him in their 25 for the PL, don't think he even played for them and then they just paid him off. That sort of gig must have cost them a pretty penny, probably had to pay up a 2 year contract plus whatever they gave Bordeaux. Can't really see that the bloke was any worse than Kevin Phillips or that bloke Gayle and probably a damn sight cheaper.
  12. Di Canio is now manager at Catane, don't know if they're in the Italian 1st or 2nd division. Ooops wrong Di Canio, Luigi.
  13. Gone: Shows just how patient we were with Adkins last season. Palace have a ridiculously weak side though, depends on who decided it was good enough to attempt the PL with. .
  14. something of that ilk yes, unless some "vieille gloire" like O'Neill has had enough of the dole queue and will take any old job to get back into football. Must be a few of them hanging about.
  15. Indeed it was, Championship side who run out of puff after an hour. Blackpool all over again. Can't see them attracting much of a manager really.
  16. No reason to sack him really, sh*t team, sh*t club, not his fault . Unless he, like Adkins, decided that his binky goalkeeper was up to the job when he very evidently wasn't. Having a really decent keeper is one of the keys to PL survival.
  17. Well, I'd say that not visiting your parents and not eating Angel Delight was by far a better option....one of Shaw's. Surely the EU must have banned that stuff by now.
  18. Unsurprisingly, he's been dead these past 15 months. Expect you mean Zaid though.
  19. because he's a speed merchant and pace dimishes with age. PL full backs are also getting better, was the last bastion where a useless player could get a PL game but recently even that's changed. Comes from better coaching and fitness I'd guess, plus with the new 4-2-3-1 systems with AMs dropping back into their own half to defend a wide man needs a bit more than a burst of speed over 50 yards. Look at the knobber Welbeck, supposed to be speed merchant right? just come on as a sub so you'd think he'd be able to outpace a DM who'd run for 80 odd minutes right? Wrong cos he doesn't have a brain.
  20. Liverpool won't be top 6, Suarez will get a long suspension again (or p*ss off to Madrid) and Gerrard will slip over on an icy pavement on his way to the post office to collect his pension. They aren't that good.
  21. if it's anything like a Formula 1 Ferrari it needs a lot of tyres, set of tyres is good for about 50 miles usually, mind you Italian tyres, don't think they make anything at all very robust in Italy.
  22. Hasn't some mega rich Indonesian bloke just bought 70% of Juventus? Ah no that's Inter, silly me.
  23. ah Kagawa is different,we'd have to apply for a new work permit for him and that's too much hassle for a player we don't really need. Anyway as we're now a "fashionable club" (well for the time being anyway) who've obviously got a couple of bob agents will start including us in their wish list when they're trying to get their players a game.
  24. Every draft is stacked with quality college QBs but few actually make the grade, why I'd even go as far as saying that neither Stafford or Bradford have really made it so far, they have their days and others when they're totally rubbish.Luck is a good QB but that apart nothing has been exceptional for a couple of years now.The same old cocks are ruling the roost and endless Heismann winners and runners up are falling by the wayside. Back to last night's game: Having watched Foles closely against the Bucs I kinda knew he'd be no good against the Boys, he's a wimp and it takes a man to run the Eagles offence against a team that comes looking for you. There's no secret as to why MV7 is often injured, he plays a man's game because that's what's required and he takes the hits and runs where no other quarterback would. If he was even 70% Chip should have asked him to play yesterday because the Boys-Eagles games will decide the division.
  25. Foles looks a bit wimpish for a game like this, fortunately the Girls are undisciplined. Might still need MV7 yet, even on one leg he'd do better than Foles. 8 of 18 and 43 yds, those are Tebowsian statistics.
