  1. I am truly GUTTED that he has been sacked. Initially I was embarrassed when he was appointed, but then when it dawned on me that a BARKER would take them out of the league I was as chuffed as nuts. My surname would have been forever legendary amongst Saints fan. As it is, I will just have to take some small comfort in his best efforts to fulfill my dream. Disclaimer. To the best of my knowledge there is no *actual* family relationship with that loser, I was just happy to take the plaudits if it happened.
  2. Actually their closest derby match next season could yet be Havant & Waterlooville..lol.. a few points from their games in hand should see them make the playoffs at least.
  3. If we extended the ground, I'd be tempted to give the whole of one end to the away fans. If they fail to fill it, then that's a negative to the away team. If they do, then it's extra revenue for us. sell it in blocks from the centre outward, so if there is extra demand for home supporters we can encroach on the sides. Ideally make the majority of the other end safe standing for the "hard core" supporters. Move the family portion to a couple of the corners. Drastically reduce prices for families and for teens.
  4. I would imagine the key benefit in expanding St Mary's would be to add more corporate boxes and attract more corporate interest. First, they have to revisit ways in which to make it more appealing and that could be achieved by price reductions and better facilities (inside and outside the stadium). Once you've filled them all and actually got a waiting list, you can start to think about increasing prices again. The same principles would apply for all us other plebs too - if the package is more appealing you are more likely to get more people to come. Of course the prime way is to have a successful team, but you need to get the pricing, facilities and accessibility right too. None of this happens overnight, but it's still great to hear that it's being looked at
  5. Spurs (A) - W Newcastle (H) - W Man City (A) - L Cardiff (H) - W Villa (A) - W Everton (H) - W Swansea (A) -W Man Utd (H) - W 21 points. 66 in total. 5th
  6. In order of preference for replacing (not necessarily selling), and assuming we don't lose anybody: Davis or Ramirez Fonte Lambert (although I think he will be the hardest to replace within our budget and assuming we're not going to break our transfer record) Boruc I'm assuming Osvaldo was meant to be Lambert's replacement but has been written and sold
  7. I reckon we will spend 100 million ....and we'll receive 80 million Osvaldo, Shaw, Guly, Lambert and one of Lovren, Lallana, Schneiderlin & Rodriguez to go Massive rebuild
  8. Without getting medical certificates as proof, I thought we pretty much did put out our best side? According to Pochettino, the players who didn't play weren't fit enough for the full 90 minutes. Just because you didn't like the team he picked doesn't mean he isn't telling the truth. There could be worse things in life - you could support the current League Champions! The bottom line is we played cr4p and deservedly got beat. Pretty much everyone was ****ed off with the result, but it was 10 days ago now. Move on.
  9. I can agree with that sentiment, and I was as disappointed as anybody that we didn't give it our best shot, and that those who did play didn't perform to their potential. I just don't like the reaction from some that we might as well pack our bags and go on our summer holidays as the season is already over. Keep the moaning relevant, but give yourselves a chance to enjoy the rest of the season! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. I don't think many would disagree with that view - but we stuffed up, we've all had our little whinge (me included), and now we can hopefully get back to watching some entertaining league games for the next 12 games, and cling to the hope of finishing 5th...and then 6th...or 7th...maybe 8th... Seriously though, If the team gives 100% effort, I for one will still have enjoyed the season as a whole. PS Anybody remember 1983/84 season? What was the highlight? Nobody remembers runners up do they? oh...and we also got to the semi finals of the cup that year, but people rarely talk about that do they? Even if we had beaten Sunderland, we still had at least 2 other matches to win to get to the Final. PPS I frikken HATE Sunderland! Not only did they cost us 4 points in the league, they knocked us out of BOTH cups AND have our stripes!!
  11. An honest question to all the posters who are moaning that we have nothing to play for. Why do you support Saints? If I take your mentality for a moment, then I *KNOW* we're not going to finish in the top 4/6/8 (depending on your own viewpoint). That being the case...why bother at all? If you already know you're not going to be satisfied at the end of the season, why get yourself all worked up for 8 months of the year? Historically, we also have a terrible record in the Cups, so it's not as if you are going to strike lucky there. Why not just follow the team with the most money and give yourselves better odds of going to be bed happy after your team of mercenaries that cost 200 million stick another 4 goals past the hapless opposition. Go on.... you know you want to.
  12. It really was a strange game. Their goal was a great strike, but other than a few desperate moments at the end when we were PUSHING FOR AN EQUALISER, we really weren't threatened at the back. JWP and Rick should both have scored. Kelvin came up for a corner. The team should have been good enough to win, but pretty much every player either had a poor game or was made to look poor by their team mates. IF we weren't trying to win the game then surely we would have rested Lallana for the whole game? Same with Shaw. We really couldn't afford any injuries to key players. I can't believe Lambert, at 32, would give up probably the best opportunity he is ever going to get for a Cup Final (let's be honest, if he flukes it on to the plane to Brazil - which I would love! - the chances of England getting to the Final AND him being in the team are only slightly better than our chances of winning the FA Cup THIS season...). Maybe - just maybe - the Hull game, shortly after playing the Stoke game, took more out of the players than people thought? I was truly gutted after the game. I went straight to bed after the game (just after midnight here) and took ages to get to sleep as I was FUMING after that display.... but 2 days later, I'm over it. I bet some of the players are still gutted. Let's hope we can get back on track in the League. I'm hopefully optimistic that 6th is still in our sights. I'd take that in a heartbeat. Especially with bragging rights over my Man Utd supporting friends out here in Oz for at least a season, after victory in our final game COYR!!! #happyclapperforever
  13. An apology for all the fans everywhere. Some compensation for the die-hards who gave up both their weekend and their hard earned cash. Not one member of SFC came out of that game with any credit. It reminded me of saints of old who would capitulate away from home at least once every season. I thought we had progressed more as a club. Although it wasn't our strongest team, let's face it - it should have been good enough to have defeated Sunderland reserves. The only positive I can come up with is it has saved me $5k on a trip back this year Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  14. It's great to hear such positive feedback from other clubs. I just hope we don't become too arrogant (a la West Ham). We've come a long way in a short time. With regards to Boruc, I think he is good for a few more years yet. He may be prone to an occasional howler, but generally he seems to inspire confidence in the defence and is a great shot-stopper. I really can't think of any goalkeeper that doesn't commit at least one or two howlers a season. There are a lot of goalkeepers out there who have gone through purple patches but I really can't think of many I would swap him for. It's certainly way down the list of priorities, although a backup keeper is fairly high up the list. Although we don't have the strength in depth of the top 4, we seem to have at least one good quality replacement for each area (or we did until Osvaldo let us down). I think a couple of top quality players added each summer will see us keep the improvement going - and also keep the team spirit intact and keep the enthusiasm in the Academy/Development squads as they can still see a path in to the first team. Top of the list has to be an out and out goalscorer with the right work ethic, followed by a left sided defender
  15. Too tough to call really, but Norwich must be worried with their lat few games, I think Stoke are a poor team who are lucky to have a really good keeper (I hope that comment doesn't come back to bite me at the weekend), and the last place could be between Fulham and palace on the final day. I don't mind if west game stay up as long as fat Sam gets the sack. Any one of the bottom 10 could go, though, if they hit a slump, and there is usually one mid table side that plummets like a stone in the second half of the season Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  16. It's a long time since we gave any team a flogging at St Mary's - would love to see it this weekend. We're capable of it, we just need to get that ruthless edge we've been missing. So...0-0 it is then....

  18. If everyone is fit, then just Lallana, none of the others unless there are injuries. Would love to see Lambert in-form and in the squad though Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. ...and wtf is with all the highlighted words? I didn't do that and it looks like it is some crazy advertising spam. I noticed on a couple of other people's posts too!
  20. As long as KL's plan isn't to asset-strip the club to get her money back, then we'll be fine. I guess we'll have a better idea by the end of the transfer window as to what her plans might be. My view is that her and NC could no longer work together and one of them had to go. It obviously wasn't going to be KL at this stage. Maybe this is part of Cortese's plan to buy the club with another consortium. He couldn't very well head it up while he was still CEO could he? If, as rumoured, he has served a 3 month notice period, then it's highly unlikely that MP didn't already know he was going way before Christmas, yet he hasn't shown any signs of heading for the door up until now has he. As has been the case for most of the past 5 years...it's never dull being a Saints fan
  21. Whether we keep him or sell him, he will join the legends. With the exception of Le Tiss, Bates & Holmes, pretty much all the other "legends" retained their status even though we sold them. It is a business after all.
  22. Would be so sad to see him go, but 8m is a ridiculous offer to receive (although it's a small amount if he did score the goals to keep them up). I still think his contribution this season is vastly underrated by a lot of people. He contributes so much more than goals to the team. Huge boots to fill.
  23. Horrible feeling that this has 0-0 written all over it..
  24. You can just go to the website and pay online. You have 3 days in which to do it after the event
  25. Without looking back at the actual stats, Lambert's goals last season seemed to have diminished since Pochettino arrived. Maybe it's because he's being asked to play a different role and is being the perfect team player, rather than the fact he has been "found out" at Premiership level? I've always felt so much of his work off the ball goes un-noticed. As well as having a great touch on the ball his positional play helps pull the defence out of position and create space for others. Unfortunately most of that goes to waste, as we seem to want to walk the ball into the net rather than risk losing possession by taking snap shots or half chances. His lack of pace is noticeable, but his speed of thought hasn't diminished. I'm not making direct comparisons, but players like Sheringham, Cantona, even LeTissier, never had pace but would all still have succeeded in the Premiership today (albeit maybe NOT in the style that we currently use). I guess what I'm saying is that maybe the fact that the rest of the team aren't contributing enough in terms of goals is influencing our opinion of Lambert's qualities. I think Osvaldo and Lambert both have key roles to play but they just have different styles and roles in the team, and I trust the manager to pick the right player for the right game.
