you've gotta run a tight ship, thats all cortese is doing ...i'm not so much worried about the harsh line hes taking with pards and demanding success ...more with how samuel points to the fact he just 'laughed off' the suggestions about using us as a stepping stone, but then again it wouldnt really make sense based on what he's said about taking the job because of leibherr ...either way, i guess nothings forever anyway ...personally i think both pards and cortese are doing a spot on job and nothing should change

hartlepool have been playing well of late, but home advantage and pressure from cortese should shine through, hopefully pards and the players know our season isnt over yet, promotion or no promotion, this is certainly one game jeff stelling wont be slightly biased towards us over! I predict 2-1 or 3-1 saints ...

hey, haven't done much tipping for a while now, mainly due to laying off the horse betting for a good stretch, but i'm back in business and have been getting some good results ..so without further a due my first tip of the week; tuesday 16th, champion hurdle, 3.20 - starluck i'd go down the each way option, this horse will at least finished placed, currently running at 12/1 with tote sport, possible to find better odds elswhere more tips to come, good luck all, heres to a successful week =)

i dont agree that 32 is about our level ... i think the crowd is directly linked with the spectacle ...if we were entertaining champions league teams at st marys (and of course had a bigger stadium) we would be consistently drawing a much bigger crowd than 32k ... for instance we have sold out the jpt and its only the jpt ...against carlisle, 44k ...theres circa 250k people in southampton, circa 90k in pompey ...you do the math, we have a lot of room for growth, not to mention the hordes of fans that just dont go to football but would attend premiership games or better ..anyway, just received a text from the father in law, hes a big gooner and lives north london way, totally out of the blue 'cant believe you boys had 30k down on saturday' must be being reported somewhere? sky sports? either way ..looks like attendance dont go un noticed by fans from other clubs ..

would of preferred it if he said 'me and markus feel strongly that southampton could be the barcelona of english football, in about 5 - 7 years time we want to be competing on a global scale, we are currently in talks with david beckham about being the front man, LA galaxy style to bring in the punters, we are probably gonna keep st marys as a training stadium, similar to barcelona with their two stadia, but we will be building a new 80k seater stadium with complex of cinemas restaurants shops etc, all under the southampton brand... we will have fans in china and japaneese people outside the stadium like old trafford... me and markus want to be in the champ league... thats where we are aiming, we are even considering buying portsmouth and demolishing it just so our fans dont have suffer them anymore and i can be free to pick up a paper and not have to read about them every day of the week ...' .... thats just what i would of preferred him to say ...but i guess what he said was OK
