I don't think the squad or management are choking. I do think that Adkins is having a problem chosing his best side though to cope with a style of play that suits an away match. I also suspect that Guly HAS to play regardless, if fit...a contractual thing or perhaps an edict from Cortese? I think we'll be acquiring some new talent in Janaury if we're still in the top three, otherwise perhaps not.

It's a great idea to be fair. (:

This really is a top bit of business. Let's face it, he has made that position his own and linked up brilliantly with Fonte. In Jan., we'll hopefully see the back of a couple of players that are not making the grade (e.g. Forte) - replacements I think should be a fast striker who can shoot from outside the area and a fast tricky winger who can play both sides but mainly provide cover/pressure for Lallana. Get those and we're looking very good for auto.

Superb result. Can hardly believe the football we're seeing - the skill and the tenacity. Chaplow - what a hero that guy is...ran everywhere on the pitch for the team. Captain material?
-
Boro are a good side - if Lallana is fit to play we could do 'em, otherwise I fear this could be our first loss at home.
-
I like that idea a lot.

Forte. Needs more playing time, or just not good enough?

We entered a competition and OUR players played in it, albeit some were not 1st team starters. Everyone knew some 1st eleven players would be rested. We lost. Get over it - it happens sometimes.
-
I want us to hammer them emphatically to erase the memory of the last few games against them. A 1-0 win will suffice though.
-
Would be good to go through, but not at the cost of the league games and in that sense I will not be too bothered if we lose TBH. Depends on the team CP field, but I think we could lose 2-1.
-
Can I ask the same question again of Mike - what material is the flag made from and did it come with a fire certificate? If not, then it would appear that we will not be seeing that flag grace SMS at any time soon.
-
Yes, completely agree with this. I really like his enthusiasm and drive. Great versatile player for us and would walk into any other team in the division playing like he is at the moment.
-
Incredible result in one sense, but actually in another way I'm kind of expecting wins now. This team are really gelled - you can tell that there is excellent harmony throughout the squad. The only slight negative on this is De Ridder, who seems not to want to work for the team quite as much - don't get me wrong, I think he's a great player needing a start to boost his spirits - but he needs to track back more. Top of table with 5 points clear eh? Pimpley near relegation? It's all good at the moment and long may it continue. Adkins is nearing legend status and hats off to NC who is leading this club back from obscurity into the big time again. I reckon there'll be some money spent in January in preparation for the Prem push.

Mmm, can't see this being a low scoring game - I reckon 3-2 either way. On balance of probability I would have to say they will do us - possibly 2-4 even. Will be a great game though if the officials are up for it.

It doesn't add up. Unless there are specific laws applicable in Southampton I cannot believe H&S is a good enough reason not to get freakin' flag out at a game of footie! As long as it gets tucked up before the whistle goes there should be no problem unless it's made of canvas or similar, then the weight would be a problem I suppose. What exactly is it made of Mike?

Or is there??? (Cue scary Hammer movie music). (:

Blimey - WH 4-0 up against Blackpool!!!! Could be an interesting game next week!
-
Come on Saints!!! Lambo the legend!!!
-
Not a good start really, but hey we can't win everything. With Lallana out, Chappers on the left and Guly on the right, can't see us getting anything out of this game.
-
It's a difficult call really because it's true to say (almost) any team can beat any other team in this league on their day. Things have changed for us - at one time we would beat top teams and come unstuck against the lowly cloggers. Our fitness, skill and tactical awareness is paying off now, but there are still frailties - agreed. We will not win every game in the next 2 months, but I don't think we'll lose them all - results so far would indicate that to be the case. We have everything to play for and nothing to lose - we'll not be relegated this season, so sit back and enjoy the ride - it could be extremely exciting for us that's for sure.

Trouble is all the 'developments' are aimed at clawing in money from new residential units or funding art-based buildings that a minority of interested people are going to visit. What Southampton needs is one or two key innovative attractions that will stand the test of time and attract new visitors into the City. Dare I say it, but Pimpley have got that well sorted out with the joint attraction of Gunwharf and the Tower. What have our Councillors to offer? Look at the future developments and they are a complete joke. Two key developments I would put right at the top of the list alongside the Royal Pier development would be (a) a monorail that links the City Centre with the water front (stops at least at Central Station, West Quay, Royal Pier, Shamrock Quay and SMS) and (b) a large viewing tower of some kind, but one that shadows the Spinnaker by having eating places etc. incorporated - we need to compete strongly. If you think about the revenue the Itchen Bridge generates, both these ideas would be very attractive private business propositions.

Not after a spell at one of Her Majesty's best correctional facilities! LOL What a looser.

I would say "no thanks", but I reckon he's the type of player Adkins would go for. Having said that, if Barnie is ready to play we don't really need another striker until January earliest if atall.

Couldn't give a stuff about his past - despite his Pimpley connections, he is a good Manager without doubt. I am completely disinterested with the current English team and Managerial set-up. I think Harry would be a perfect England Manager and have as much or more ability as anyone to build a team to be proud of. I'm not so sure he would jump at the chance actually. Bring it on I say.
