Completely agree. His performance in the Everton game was his best at Saints and to be fair one that stood up with the best I've seen from a midfielder. The only downside to his game is a lack of goals, but you could say the same of Morgan, Cork and Wanyama to be fair. From a squad perspective that actually is a problem that somehow the coaching staff need to solve.

Wickham is exactly the type of player we would go for - i.e. some Prem credentials and less than £5m. I doubt very much that we will go for him as I think the club will place their faith in Gallagher learning his trade from RL and who will cost a whole lot less.

Dunno, just don't believe all this paper bullsheet. I do wonder whether many of the doomsayers completely underestimate how good this club is for it's playing staff.

Obligatory Congratulations Matt Targett Thread!

Someone I know from the Academy has mentioned that coaches reckon MT is better than Shaw at that age. Looking forward to seeing some of these guys. -
Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Everton
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Excellent game - Davies was just great...best game in a Saints shirt. Wanyama also had his best game IMO. I really never thought I would those two play together, but I think they suit each others games well. Clyne was a perfect choice for RB - he dominated for large parts. Overall Saints bossed Everton and despite the two OG's we deserved the win. Should have had 2-3 pens for handball though. -
If Les Reed is to be believed we will be in for an exciting summer and an even more succesful performance next season. This might be true...time will tell.
-
The two clubs are in advanced talks, but Utd have yet to table an offer??? What a load of utter rubbish...journalism of the lowest order.
-
Really positive statement and one which I feel was long overdue, both from Reed and from the club. I willl certainly feel more likely to renew my ST now...OK, it is only words, but words from a Board member and if shown to be untrue, the trust from loyal supporters would be severely damaged. To basically hear that we're likely to see further improvement in the team we've been watching is extremely exciting - lets hope the summer provides everything it promises to deliver.
-
I just wish we knew what the club will do to push on BEFORE I spend out on my ST. Not huge a huge fan in placing faith with SFC's transfer policy in the past, with exception of the L1 time.
-
Whoa fella...bit economical with the truth there. Cortese had a mandate from Marcus to run the club and did so for circa 2 years under KL. If you could call the spending liberal, then it was with the clubs money, not "other peoples" as you claim. And lastly, there is little if any factual evidence to suggest he "got the push" - in fact the evidence suggests it was more akin to constructive dismissal. Fact is, under Cortese we managed to keep hold of Shaw et al. Will the same be said of the new management team?
-
We will get a new one ripped....they are just too hot for us even if we had JRod back. Expect 0-3.
-
I think everyone including Samuels is overlooking the massive part team spirit plays in this young squad. They are here because they want to be here to play football...to be a part of the journey. Lallana, Lambert, Morgan and Fonte are key leaders in reminding their team mates where they've come from. Don't write off the possibility of this group of players sticking with us for a while yet.
-
Good possession...poor game...made worse by biased Ref (must be biased as he had full sight of what was a blatant handball in pen area). Davis really should scored. Lambert looks so tired...Gallagher is L1 standard at the moment at least. Osvaldo and Mayuka decisions were clearly all wrong. Next.
-
Gallagher - spirited but nowhere near the level required. Reed on the other hand looks composed on the ball. Overall good days work for an unpressured point, but frankly a little bit boring.
-
Great achievement...trialled for the club way, way, way back, so lovely to see this.

Adam Lallana nominated for PFA Pplayer of the year

Superb news for Adam, Luke and the entire club. Very proud moment. -
Do not be surprised to see Osvaldo back here in the summer. I've heard there will be an attempt to patch things up.
-
Yeh, there is sonething very evil and nasty going on at the club...I mean not telling the Echo what funds will be available....thats dispicable. Meanwhile in other news...
-
What baffles me is why they need to charge £10 for the privelage of moving your seat. Now THATS a rip-off!!!
-
I don't know - £28 increase doesn't seem too much extra IF the team is improved. But that's my big problem with the arrangement - you pay for a product you have no idea will look like. Would you buy a car without an engine or a house without a roof without even a sniff of a promise that those essential parts will be in place to your satisfaction when you take possession? Still, no doubt I'll be forking out for my Saints fix...the bar-stewards know they've got us - ST purchasing faithful - hook, line and sinker.

Don't hold your breath....this is so typical of Turkish and others on here derailing decent threads. It's ruined what was an informative and entertaining site. Your OP is an excellent one. For me the simple answer lies in the maturity of the squad in the Prem in relation to the type of football Mopo wants. Thats why this summer is critical to the development of the squad and the clubs on-going success. To really shift the balance in our favour we need to bring in a GK, CB, AM, ST all of which must be of better quality than the players we now have. Unfortunately, I do not believe we will see more than 1 new face. From what I've heard Osvaldo will be coming back with nowhere to go which will hardly help with the mentality of the team.
-
We will lose this...probably 2-0. We are rubbish in front of goal and very shaky in defence...nobody wants an injury so tackling will be soft. Yep, its another one of those woulda shoulda games.
-
Yes, absolutely agree with this. We need more quality up front to take chances - shoot more accurately more often rather than try to walk it in.
