Saints long term deal with adidas to be terminated?
Saint Fan CaM replied to doggface's topic in The Saints
Well I understand he liked to micro manage certain projects, but then much of Saints resergence was attributable to his vision, like it or not. And I just don't believe all of the Nasty Nick stories that many have rolled out. -
OK. That's really incredible...

How anyone can say Carroll deserved the red I don't know. In full view of the Ref Flores had his arm around Carrolls neck - that should have been at least a yellow for start. But then to fein facial injury like that is a disgrace and brings the game into disrepute. I am not convinced that Carroll knew exactly what was going on and a yellow may have been appropriate, but never a red. The FA have somehow conspired to get this wrong....both in terms of Carroll and Flores.

Fox would have been a better all round option than the OP's suggestion at 33yo TBH. So no, give Targett the chance to shine like Chambers.
-
Preparation for the Championship then.
-
I think this will be tougher than many imagine. However I do think we can beat them... me, I'm going 2-1.
-
I think Fulham and Cardiff are definates. The third slot is harder to call ... probably one of West Ham, Swansea, Stoke or most likely Norwich.

Saints long term deal with adidas to be terminated?

Well if its true that Adidas did mess up then Cortese had every right to get hacked off IMO. I just wonder whether the purchasing team were empowered to sort it out, or did Cortese decide it was a such an issue that he felt the need to get personally involved? See where I'm going with this? -
Signed. My recently departed dear Mum and my Dad laid a brick in Coventry cathedral when it was being built, so apart from doing the right thing for a fellow footie fan, I have a bit of a soft spot for Coventry in general. Good luck sorting it out...I think you'll need lots of it.
-
All those saying Wanyama is needs to get back match fitness are wrong IMO. Cork and Morgan are ideally matched and sometimes you just have to accept that two players will be exceptional together and less than exceptional apart.
-
Do you not recognise that the best way to improve the squad - in fact only sensible way - is to bring in players better or as good as your '1st on the team-sheet' players? If we got a CB of Lovren's quality in, that man would start and Fonte would be a (very capable) backup, thus improving the overall standing of the squad.
-
I think there is a chance of moving into the top 6 - no higher than 4th in all likelihood. We need a new GK (backup), CB (partner to Lovren) and experienced striker while Gallagher learns his trade - nothing more. I still feel this team has a lot more to achieve - Mopo and his staff seem to have tapped into whatever it is that motivates our squad and are helping them excel consistently.
-
It was plain to see that Wanyama had a poor game, but the simple overriding issue is that Cork and Schneiderlin are a better suited pairing. Plus when Cork gets harried he will likely be able to play himself out of trouble...VW invariably gets caught napping. He's got more to prove.
-
OMG...thats that then...may as well concede now.

A pretty good assessment.

See above. I actually think this summer will be somewhat 'duller' than many would like or expect.

Can't be bothered to read all the other stuff, so this may have been said already. Chap I know with connections at the club told me this Krueger guy has been around since last year and the idea was that he would work alongside Cortese, but the latter did not like that and hence the resignation. The idea was that this guy was brought in to keep an eye on the corporate running of the club on behalf of KL - issues have already been uncovered. Whether or not this was intended to be a prelude for the club being sold is unclear - gut instinct says it does have the feel of a trimming operation prior to sale - however it was Cortese keeping those players like Sharp here as he would not loan/sell unless on his terms.

Our Starting 11 of Academy Products Ambition

This ^ completely. It is important to keep 40%+ of the team between the age of 25-30 as those guys will have the experience and nerve to keep things calm when the game appears to be slipping, will more likely put in an important challenge and will provide continuity of team spirit and leadership. -
Good luck to the lad - he was not as bad as some painted him given he sat behind an 18 yr old on the bench or indeed didn't feature at all for large parts of the season - he helped us up to the Prem. Good professional who deserves 1st team football.

And the next one off the wage bill is......
Saint Fan CaM replied to once_bitterne's topic in The Saints
And what happened the last time we relied entirely on youth without investing in the 1st as required? Mmm.... -
Pleased to see him go, but somewhat disappointed go see we've not done any inbound business so far and would hazard a guess that nothing will happen full stop. This isthe new order we will be living with now...home grown or nowt.
-
Got to have a place surely? Has stayed through thick and thin, one of the best players to wear the shirt and he's team captain. No argument IMO.
-
Can't see it myself - why would he not be happy here...has support of the players, coaching staff, Board and fans. He has the Academy cream to pick from - a stated interest of his since his previous club. Cortese might have sold him the dream, but it's his dream now.
-
Fulham, while possibly the worst team in the league, will be a completely different proposition to Arse. They will chase and niggle more - could be a difficult game for the lads to control. If we manage to penetrate their defence rather than just play keep ball, it could be a mauling. 1-2 Saints.
-
Vucinic would be a great swop with Osvaldo...hope this is true.
