I dont see Smallbone as an option really even if fit. He's not a direct replacement for Romeu and that is someone we do not have, that real stopper type. If we don't get someone like him I think we will be vulnerable again.

You seem to be very worried by this player. Is that based solely on a statistical viewpoint or have you seen him play? Not totally discounting the stats but there are many factors that can dictate these numbers and the relevance is not always important.

On tbe basis we do not bring another CM in, I'd be quite happy with him added to the squad as opposed to what it is now, as long as it was some sort of pay as you train/play deal.

Quite right. We needed his 20 2 seasons ago and last (although he didnt) because our defense has been so poor. Our issues lie in the CB and DCM areas.

I'm liking our strategy in terms of these highly rated kids. Show we give them chances years ahead of their larger club and we could have some real success over the next few year, sporting and financially if chosen well. Make ourselves the club of choice for these kids who are way ahead of their age.

I agree. Our aerial dominance from free kicks and corners is nonexistent. A good part of this is down to neither keeper being very good in that attribute either. But that ain't getting solved anytime soon by the looks of it.🤬

Basically every one of the United team costs more than our most expensive ever player, so why does anyone expect us to out play them. They will have the ball for most of the game, its whether we can stop them scoring with our defence😂

was just thinking similar. Before the game I was fully expecting an absolute thrashing. Now we've gone and taken the lead, it gives you hope, so like you say, when the inevitable happens and they score a few, it will hurt more now.

nothing changes....every game we are relying upon the quality of the opposition to score. rarely do we stop them scoring, or having loads of chances because we are defending well. We need at least one commanding CB. With the ball we are good, not brilliant but better than quite a few..
