  1. This! And perhaps realising this, Morgen will knuckle down for one more season, give his excellent best and get his move next summer, at a price and timing more suitable for us.
  2. I really like the look of the back line...
  3. Himself to Liverpool ??? Other than that Rupert's comments were broadly sensible and sound - But hardly rocket science.
  4. The advantage with Vlaar is that he is a proven leader and potential skipper. I tend to agree that Van Dijk makes more sense and has all the potential but I can understand us being keen on Concrete Ron who I rated better than Lovren anyway.
  5. No it delayed Man U signing him by a season.
  6. Rijn - I would go and drink a barrel of Heineken in your honour if we get Depay
  7. Thanks for the genuine sentiments Enskied - Appreciated.
  8. It's what I want to beleive I really do, but after recent events most notably the sale of Chambers which I could not for the life of me understand, I would want to see 3 or 4 good acquisitions in and nobody else out before I sign up for your provocation ( as good and commendable as it is by the way).
  9. Well I know that of course.... But one might equally question Why Professor Wenger decided to spend £16m on a young right back, when he already had a good young right back in his squad who was popular with the Gooner faithful and regarded as good enough to step up!
  10. No chance of it being the next 6 minutes I suppose ?
  11. I work in London and am surrounded by Gooners! The real sickener is that they are completely non-plussed by Calum's arrival there - They would far preferred to have seen a youngster called Bellerin given his chance at right back than buy somebody for £16m who is only a wee bit older and has played a few more premier matches, and spent that £16m elsewhere.. Almost as though we are taking them to market...
  12. Sadly he was mainly by that Saint Divvy berke, but yes he was a good guy! I often wonder if he lurks on this forum somewhere.
  13. That summer of 2007 was absolutley mad ! Every prat and his wife was getting involved/linked/posting in some way - However like many others on here we just could not tear oursleves away from the maelstrom!
  14. Markus' money yes, but he used it well and drove us to heights we have not seen since the early/mid 1980's. Would want him back in a heartbeat.
  15. Gutted when Cortese left us as he was the man who drove us forward, made us respected and gave us a lot ot smile about. never wanted him to go and I would welcome him back in a heartbeat.
  16. It really does feel at the moment that we are being "done to" with everything going the wrong way and nothing going the right way. Usually I try to see the positive in most situations but right now its a struggle. Of course 3 or 4 through the door this week with no more out might just help things a bit.
  17. Really do not understand this one, perhaps it came so far out of left field that it has shocked and surprised me more than any of the others and I had hoped he would be an integral part of our side for many years. I wish the lad well but flippin 'eck I just don't get why !!
  18. After several seasons of being completely adrift with your predictions, this year you might just strike lucky! But it will be good enough for a club in major transition.
  19. Look we may not be in a very comfortable place right now, but how and why the hell would the current board wheel out an ex-player who left us over 10 years ago, and never even met the current owners, come forward and do their bidding!
  20. Boycott the game ! Why??? We are going through a major transition in terms of Manager, Players and if my guess is correct, potentially an owner too. All of the current fog may well clear to see a very sunny day the other side - So a so caled "boycott" would just be plain dumb.
  21. Correct! I think she wants a return on the families investment but to also leave us in a reasonable state when she does - There really is no other explanation in my opinion for this supposed "fire sale" of major assets at top prices and replacing them with good but much less expensive options. debts would then be cleared to make us a very attractive going concern for a new buyer who can come in and (hopefully) build from a very sound financial base. So I don't blame Reed at all - He is doing what he is being paid to do in securing top prices while acquiring others at reasonable prices. Krueger was a sort of "spin doctor" employed for that reason but has spectacularly failed in that sense. All IMHO of course.
  22. Not sure I would blame Reed for this although Krueger is certainly culpable. Last week I could buy Lambert, Lallana, Lovren and Shaw leaving as it all kinda made sense for different reasons, but The Chambers sale made no sense at all!! Sadly, this whole situation really does have "Club for Sale" written all over it - Sell assets big, replace with cheaper (but probably still capable assets) and clear the debts with the remaining float. Bingo - There is a nice premiership club with first class infrastructure and no debt ready for the highest bidder! That of course can be regarded as sensitive stuff so any statements are bound to be nebulous and ambiguous - Or not forthcoming at all!
  23. While I can see the logic of Rickie winding his career down at his hometown club, Lallana/Lovren chasing bigger bucks so wanting to move on and Shaw was always going to be sold to a rich club as soon as he broke into our first team - But this sale of Chambers really does not make any sense to me at all! He was one I felt Ronald could build a new team around ... Gutted!
  24. Agree - Hardly Sanchez calibre signings. I also see Adam is injured and will miss the start of the season too!
  25. We are currently tapping up targets too - Its part of football nowadays!
