  1. By that logic we have to win every remaining game. Every game feels vital but there is still a long way to go and we will have more draws and defeats between now and the end of the season. Top 2 is a tall order but it won't be decided on whether we beat QPR on 23rd of December.
  2. Shit news for both the club and Stewart, it was a gamble for sure and sadly it's failed. But bloody hell there are some drama queens on here! Reckon we'll try and get a striker in on loan in January.
  3. Yeah, let's just be good sports and give the opposition more of the ball, maybe give them a couple more goals too. I'm sure they'll enjoy playing against us more then. Honestly...
  4. Christ, the misery on here is unbelievable. You realise we've won our last four at home? I'll be looking for an improvement from the fans more than the team. A song for KWP would be a good start.
  5. IIRC, play wasn't stopped as such, but the half time break was extended by 10 minutes.
  6. Well that's a sickener. Feel a bit for Baz, it's a bad mistake but he made some excellent saves before that so not gonna be too harsh on him. Bednarek MOTM for me, also thought Aribo had a good game. The main problem again is our inability to finish teams off, with a one goal lead we're always walking a tightrope. Still having a good season on the whole but Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds are just relentless. Have to win every game just to stay in touch. Still a long way to go but even at this early stage we look almost nailed on for the playoffs.

  8. Love the mental gymnastics that some resort to to defend racism when it's against white people. If a white person had said the same about black/brown people there would (quite rightly) have been loads of flack and they'd probably be cancelled.
  9. Thought the atmosphere was dire again today, especially considering how well we played. Maybe it was too comfortable. Too many people just don't wanna get involved and sit on their hands.
  10. No fog but it's cloudy and still below zero!
  11. The booing at half time was aimed at the referee. Jeez, another win and 10 games unbeaten, yet reading this thread you'd think we'd lost. I agree the style of play isn't the most exciting but after the last few seasons it's nice just to be winning games again. If you keep winning by one goal it's not a fluke. FWIW I had a quick look at the Leicester forum earlier and their fans are saying exactly the same things about Maresca and their style of play. Football fans can be hard to please!
  12. I tried to get do do do Kyle Walker-Peters going but felt like an idiot when no-one joined in. We hardly have any player songs any more, it's crap.
  13. I dunno what KWP has to do to get the crowd singing his name. I bloody love the guy but he probably feels under appreciated. Much better second half after a dreadful first half, played some good football in tight spaces. Just lacking that finishing touch.
  14. No chance unfortunately, if he leaves Sunderland it'll be for the PL. Unless we sell someone then I don't think we need another winger. Sulemana, Edozie, Fraser, SAA and potentially Arma are great options for the Championship.
  15. IIRC, I think at the forum he also stated clearly that Martin is his man. Regardless, it's been said more than once. Not to mention the fact that as Director of Football, appointing a manager would be one of his main tasks.
  16. It was Jason Wilcox who selected him.
  17. It was actually today, good finish too...
  18. He's an excellent manager, was assistant under Bielsa at Leeds and did a great job at Huddersfield too. But we can't just go and get whoever we want, even if we'd made an approach I'm sure it would have been very difficult to pry him from West Brom. Anyway Martin is doing a good job.
  19. Really was a game of two halves, played some really good football in the first half without creating too many chances, and also defended well. WBA were dreadful but really stepped it up in the second half as expected and it was a tough watch at times. The winner came against the run of play but I love the resilience this team is showing now. Nice to have a proper spine in the team again too! Feels like a really big win this. Well done Martin and the team.
  20. A few weeks old but this video sums things up well. It's not even just Saudi, the next 3 World Cups are a shambles. Infantino is a bigger crook than Blatter.
  21. He could do a decent job there imo. I don't think he's a bad manager, was just the wrong fit for us and at the wrong time.
  22. Interesting that you say Puel was a decent manager, when our football under him was far more tedious and dull than it is now. As RM stated several times, he's not going to abandon 'Russball' (I hate that term), this is how he wants his teams to play. Yesterday's performance was clearly his style working as intended, there was still plenty of the 'tippy tappy crab' football as you put it but it was far more effective at doing what it's supposed to do, drawing the opposition out and creating space in other parts of the pitch that we could then exploit. It's obviously still being refined and in some previous games we have lacked the movement to take advantage, but that was much better yesterday. 'Russball' working as it should. If you watch Brighton they play exactly the same way and are very successful at it. It's just getting the balance right of when to play that forward ball but as we saw yesterday when it works, it's a joy to watch.
  23. Got a standing ovation from all four stands as he walked around the pitch. Looked like he really enjoyed it and posed for some photos with fans too. Was great to see him back at SMS! Always is for the early kick offs. A bit of nerves too in the second half.
  24. Great to get an injury time winner for a change! Wasn't a brilliant performance but we were the better team in the second half and deserved the 3 points. Get the feeling some on here would only be happy if we won 5-0 every week. I think in general our possession and approach play is pretty decent, but we are desperately lacking a proper striker and focal point up front. Hopefully this is where Stewart will make a big difference as Charly, Che, Arma etc aren't it.
