Christ, what a ridiculous over reaction. Obviously a pretty tasteless and stupid thing to do, but the most worrying aspect for me is that they actually got arrested for it. Half the time the police can't be bothered to investigate actual crimes, yet they arrest two blokes for waving their arms around? Aside from that, the minute's silence was impeccably observed by 30000+ but of course that doesn't make headlines.

I think we've all been spoiled by watching the likes of Bale, Shaw, Walcott etc come through the academy and be instant superstars. Reality is most young players need time to develop and require a lot of patience. I thought Ramsay, Johnson and Slattery were all ok, without being spectacular. Certainly can't see what any of them did to deserve being labelled as awful. I'd agree with others that Gallagher was probably most disappointing of the youngsters, but it's a bit unfair to judge him just on that brief cameo.

Yes I did have a chuckle at that. Murphy is a terrible pundit. I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if Cedric is on his way. We need a new right back whatever.

Manolo Gabbiadini: Joins Sampdoria - Official
LuckyNumber7 replied to Portugalsaint's topic in The Saints
Thanks and good luck Manolo, you gave us some great memories. -
Really happy to see him doing well at Hull especially with all the background difficulties there. As others have said he will always be a Saints legend despite what one or two oddballs on here might say. That period was such a great time to be a Saints fan.
-
Don't think anyone could have a bad word to say about him, a class act on and off the field. Great memories of his debut goal at Man City in our first game back in PL and his double at Spurs amongst some other important goals. Thanks for everything Davo and enjoy your swan song at Rangers. You'll always be welcomed back here.

A few years ago I'd agree with our high ranking but let's be honest, in recent seasons the atmosphere at SMS has been very poor. Noisiest place I've been to was Leicester the year before they won the title, and agree with others that Huddersfield should be higher up. Generally that list is a load of nonsense.
-
Fair play to Redmond who was by far the best player on the pitch. A tidy debut from Slattery and the usual 6/10 performance from JWP. The rest of them were awful quite frankly and some of them wouldn't look out of place in L1. How Gabbiadini is deemed surplus to requirements when Long, Austin and Moi are given numerous chances is completely baffling. Poor Ralph has a lot of work to do.

He didn't just stop scoring though, he got injured, and really ever since he returned he hasn't been given a proper run in the team. He's clearly a confidence player so being given bit part sub appearances with little to no service was never going to get him back to his best. I trust Ralph to sort us out and I've accepted Gabbi is on his way, but it does sadden me a bit as I think he is a talented player who has been criminally misused in his time here. -
Southampton FC fan base, an embarrassment to the club.

And breathe My point was, just going purely off that brief clip that it looked like they were trying to start a new song for one of our players, give me that over sitting in silence as the majority now seem to any day. FWIW I agree with pretty much all of your post. -

I have no idea about this song and yeah the hand movements are a bit cringy, but at last they are trying to support the team. It's no wonder the atmosphere at SMS is so ****e with the number of people on here who get embarrassed by our fans making any kind of noise. Let's just sit on our hands in complete silence like we're at the cinema eh. -
Excellent gritty defensive display. Yoshida easily MOTM but Vestergaard, Bednarek and Valery also very solid and an impressive PL debut from Gunn. Cedric was appalling though, he needs replacing. Very good point, just a shame Burnley won.
-
I don't really get this slagging off of Lemina. Granted he has been quite poor the last couple of games but doesn't look to me like a lack of effort, plus he has been one of our best players this season.
-
Don't have a problem with the light show tbh, I'm more bothered about the appalling atmosphere at SMS these days.
-
Valery is raw but has lots of potential and with experience in the long run will develop into a very good player. Cedric has been pretty rubbish for two or more years and thinks he's better than he is, I wouldn't be sorry to see the back of him in January, although we would need to buy a replacement.
-
Everton and Sheff Weds the ones who immediately spring to mind for me. I recall us beating Man Utd fairly regularly at The Dell in the 90's but been a different story at SMS.

Everton v Spurs 2-6 Same as Grobelaar Game scoreline
LuckyNumber7 replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
Not the 80's, more like around '94 I think. I was only young but remember us being 2-0 up at half time, but went on to lose 2-6 after extra time. Think Ronny Rosenthal scored 4. Can't forget it, as much as I'd like to. -
Keep Gabbi. And actually frickin play him.
-
Unfortunately on the pitch he has been poor for quite a while now. However as a character he comes across as one of the most likeable in the squad and certainly seems to have a good attitude. I hope he can rediscover the form he showed a couple of years ago.
-
I've always held the opinion that McQueen is the better of the two. We should have taken the money for Targett in the summer and kept McQueen as backup for Bertrand. Targett will never be more than a Championship standard player imo.
-
Thanks Sparky for your efforts in keeping us up, regardless of whether Swansea imploded. Especially liked how he dealt with the shenanigans at Swansea before the game. Really wanted it to work out for him here but unfortunately he had to go, no home wins at this stage is unacceptable and he was unable to sort out the defence. Shame really as I do feel performances were starting to improve the last few weeks, but too little too late. That said the players have to take their share of the blame, and whoever the new guy is has a very tough job on his hands. Good luck Kelvin for Wednesday.
-
His final ball yesterday was shocking, rarely managed to find a red and white shirt. He has improved this season but is still basically just a headless chicken. Probably be alright in the Championship next season.
-
Gabbi on the bench again. Just f*ck off Hughes. On the plus side great to see Valery start.
-
Plenty of candidates, there's very few I'd be sorry to see the back of. But as a player I really dislike Redmond. Never seems to know what to do in the ball, slows the play down and virtually zero end product, yet has somehow managed to consistently get picked by three consecutive managers. Argumentative attitude on the pitch as well. To be fair to him he has improved slightly this season albeit starting from a very low base. Never have I felt so disengaged from the bunch of players representing Saints.
-
Whatever people say about Austin, you certainly can't accuse him of not caring! Gutting to be denied a home win yet again but after a good first half performance we sat back too much in the second and barely created anything. Gabbi motm, him and Yoshi showing why they should have been starting every week, it's utterly baffling how they have been continually frozen out. Thought Hoedt had a very good game also. Still one home win in thirteen months now, an utterly appalling record. Scary thing is I can't see where the next one is coming from.
