  1. Redmond "utterly fantastic" 2nd half, seriously? He did improve slightly on the first half and previous performances but that was starting from a very low base. IMO he should be nowhere near the first 11.
  2. Much better performance and good effort, but still looked like we could play all night and not score. Failed to score in 9 of our last 10 home games, a shocking stat. It's going to be a long season. Lemina is different class though.
  3. You're certainly correct to an extent, but other clubs such as Palace, Stoke, Huddersfield, Leicester, to name a few manage to create an intimidating atmosphere so it can be done. I was at Leicester the season before they won the league and the place was literally bouncing for the full 90 minutes, Saints fans couldn't even hear ourselves sing and were completely drowned out. It just needs a bit of will and a coordinated effort but I think our fanbase is either too nice, or just prefer to whinge about everything rather than make an effort to support the team.
  4. Olly Lancashire scored for Swindon last night as well.
  5. Absolutely, it's no wonder SMS is so tame and lifeless if we have fans with this mentality. I have had a ST in the Kingsland North since we left The Dell but am seriously considering not bothering after this season. Nothing to do with the crap football being served up, but because I'm fed up of the dull, flat and soulless matchday experience. A few years ago our section was full of mostly younger lads who would stand and sing for most of the game, now I'm surrounded by tourists and silent middle class types who are more interested in their smartphones than the match or trying to create any noise. I used to be proud of our atmosphere but it is appalling now and sadly leaves me wondering why I bother spending £600 on something that is increasingly a chore rather than something I spend the week looking forward to. Would love it to change but I can't see it happening.

    Redmond

He is garbage, the fact he keeps getting picked is a sad indictment of our other attackers.
  7. I'd like to see us play 352/532 with Cedric and Bertrand as wing backs, and Gabbi up front with either Austin or Long. That formation to me is the one that is best suited to the players we have, would allow us two strikers on the pitch, a solid midfield, and three good central defenders. MP does seem rather stubborn with the formation though.
  8. Yep, he has completely disrespected the club over the last few months and is only now playing as he really has no choice, not because he wants to. For the fans to now adoringly sing his name like nothing has happened was cringey tbh. Don't know if I'll boo him but I certainly won't be singing the ****'s name.
  9. No, I really like our badge. It's unique, instantly recognisable, and totally relevant to the city. I would find it sad if we scrapped it for some modern guff just to please social media.
  10. Early days but already MP looks like Puel MkII. Can't just blame the manager though, a lot of our players aren't half as good as they think they are. Bertrand, Cedric, Tadic for example seem to think they are too good for us, well it's about time they started showing it on the pitch as right now they look bang average. Several players need dropping and a change of formation also needed.
  11. Yep, couldn't agree more.
  12. Obvious troll is obvious.
  13. I've not read much of this thread but I find the title at least pretty pathetic. Sure Les hasn't got everything right and has said the odd daft thing but no-one is perfect. On the whole he, along with the Liebherrs and to a certain degree Ralph, have been a very positive and stabilising influence on the club. The future may be uncertain but I'm sure fans of many clubs would snap your hand off for what we've had the past few years, it's sad that some of our own supporters can't see that. For any who want rid of him I would say be careful what you wish for.
  14. Nothing new, our support has been ****e for a few years now.
  15. Our whole attack needs an overhaul, Tadic, Redmond and Davis just aren't good enough. Gabbi is quality but he is getting zero service and you can see how frustrated he is. Also Bertrand looked completely peed off and disinterested the whole game. If he's sulking as well get him out the team. A very lucky point. Impressed with how Huddersfield kept up their intensity for virtually the whole game. Another worrying performance from our pov though.
  16. People take this booing of ex players too seriously sometimes, I booed him not because he left, but because of the way he went about it. However it's all pantomime stuff, I don't hate the guy and I appreciate what he did for us, but the club were just as good for him as he was for us. He is the one who came back from the Euros and started causing problems, he made his bed so he must lie in it. Those getting all soppy about it should know better by now that all players are just in it for themselves, there is no real affection for the club that employs them, they only care about the money.
  17. Despite another blank I enjoyed that much more than the tedious rubbish we were served up most of last season, it felt like Saints again. The failure to score again is a worry but the football was so much more positive and there were plenty of encouraging signs.
  18. I've always quite liked Jamie Redknapp but thought his comments the other day about VVD and Saints were really disrespectful to us and showed a real lack of understanding of the whole situation. Equally Chris Sutton spouted a load of similar nonsense, another moron who thinks he knows it all. I have actually warmed to Carragher, I think he has improved as a pundit and usually at least tries to be impartial, but he will naturally always have some bias. Gary Neville is by far the best out there though.
  19. Some good news at last, welcome to Southampton Mario!
  20. Can't believe after all he's done, he's actually trying to play the victim. What a despicable piece of work he is. £70M from anyone but the Scousers or he rots for 5 years, as far as I'm concerned.
  21. Howe would be my first choice, if he would leave Bournemouth. Otherwise like the idea of Blanc, but he would probably want a bigger club than us. Would be happy with Jokanovic or Adkins returning. Not much else on that list to inspire, Les will need to be thinking outside the box.
  22. Not keen on the home kit at all, but the away one is growing on me. Will stick with the Veho stripes from two years ago for next season as that's our best kit from recent seasons imo.
  23. Don't like that at all, although still better than the all red Cortese gave us. Saints without stripes just doesn't look right. Probably fake anyway.
  24. IMO it's very lazy to just look at the league position in isolation and say, oh we finished 8th, it was a good season. On its own yes that is fine, but you have to look at the bigger picture as well. Only two points ahead of 13th Closer points wise to the bottom three than the team immediately above us Less than a goal a game at home, and none in the last five If we were managerless now, would you look at Puel's record this season and think we should be appointing him? The most worrying thing is we have actually been getting worse rather than better, and when a team is struggling to score goals as badly as we have been there is only one direction you're headed. I genuinely believe if Puel is still in charge next season we will be in a relegation battle, as I don't see him changing his style. I'm quite amazed that we finished 8th but to a certain extent I think we were let off the hook as the rest of the league outside the top 7 was so poor. He seems a decent guy, and I am grateful for the cup final, but really aside from that it has been a pretty dismal season with very few highlights.
  25. Cedric was waving goodbye on the lap of honour. Some idiots were booing CP as he was applauding the crowd, I want him gone but that was out of order imo. The fact that a team who only scored 17 goals at home all season has finished 8th just shows what a terrible league it's been this season. West Brom failed to win any of their last nine games and we only overtook them on goal difference It is just a relief this turgid season is now over and I'm actually for the first time looking forward to the summer break. I have renewed my ST but am really hoping we have a new manager when we come back in August.
