I can only assume you're not from Southampton as you don't appear to get the rivalry. It matters not a jot what league they are in, all that matters is it's Portsmouth against Southampton and for me and I suspect many others it is the biggest game of the season. Games like this are what supporting Saints is all about, and 'winning in itself' means everything. Very strange post.

Never seen Danso play but I signed him for Saints on Fifa and he was pretty good! Young, strong and pacey. No idea what he's like in real life but in Ralph we trust.

No ill feeling from me, he's clearly not good enough for this level any more but scored some important goals in his time here and will always remember the 'Park Life' rant last season. I've never been his biggest fan as a player but he improved leaps and bounds last season, and also appears to have a great attitude which is refreshing. Well done to Nathan for the strides he's made and good news for the club, although as said above the timing feels like a bit of a distraction from the probable lack of incomings today.

Absolutely this. The ones moaning are probably the same ones who sit in near silence for 90 minutes. The atmosphere at most grounds in Europe puts the Premier League to shame and anything that could improve the atmosphere at SMS would get my support.

Absolutely gutted to lose like that but so proud of the team, they all put in a great shift and that performance should give us belief that we can stay up. Have to say JWP is finally starting to look like a proper player who knows his role in the team, and an England call up wouldn't be undeserved. Stephens is an absolute liability, ten times worse than Hoedt. Nowhere near being a PL defender. We can't defend and can't score goals, very difficult to see how we're going to stay up.

I don't blame Ralph at all for our predicament, he is clearly a good manager but has been given a very weak squad to work with. My only real gripe so far is his treatment of Gabbiadini and if we weren't going to replace him we should have kept him. We just have no-one to score the goals we need. Of course injuries to key players haven't helped.

I think everyone realises he was too good for us and wouldn't be here long term, it's the way he went about orchestrating the move and making out the club was in the wrong that is the reason he is hated. And you say we should have flogged him sooner, yet every time we've done that before most on here ***** and moan that we're not holding onto our best players etc. At least with VVD the club tried to make a stand and I admired them for that, whatever they do they can't win.

No, where did I say that? It was a stupid thing to do but getting arrested for it is absolutely ridiculous and a complete waste of police time.

Amongst all the doom and gloom from yesterday, the one big positive to come out of that game was Valery's performance. Thought he was excellent all round and just looked to have a lot more confidence. Good defensively and far more of a threat going forward than we have seen so far. Shame he didn't score with that run into the box but a very encouraging performance.

Christ, what a ridiculous over reaction. Obviously a pretty tasteless and stupid thing to do, but the most worrying aspect for me is that they actually got arrested for it. Half the time the police can't be bothered to investigate actual crimes, yet they arrest two blokes for waving their arms around? Aside from that, the minute's silence was impeccably observed by 30000+ but of course that doesn't make headlines.

I think we've all been spoiled by watching the likes of Bale, Shaw, Walcott etc come through the academy and be instant superstars. Reality is most young players need time to develop and require a lot of patience. I thought Ramsay, Johnson and Slattery were all ok, without being spectacular. Certainly can't see what any of them did to deserve being labelled as awful. I'd agree with others that Gallagher was probably most disappointing of the youngsters, but it's a bit unfair to judge him just on that brief cameo.

Yes I did have a chuckle at that. Murphy is a terrible pundit. I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if Cedric is on his way. We need a new right back whatever.

Really happy to see him doing well at Hull especially with all the background difficulties there. As others have said he will always be a Saints legend despite what one or two oddballs on here might say. That period was such a great time to be a Saints fan.

Don't think anyone could have a bad word to say about him, a class act on and off the field. Great memories of his debut goal at Man City in our first game back in PL and his double at Spurs amongst some other important goals. Thanks for everything Davo and enjoy your swan song at Rangers. You'll always be welcomed back here.

A few years ago I'd agree with our high ranking but let's be honest, in recent seasons the atmosphere at SMS has been very poor. Noisiest place I've been to was Leicester the year before they won the title, and agree with others that Huddersfield should be higher up. Generally that list is a load of nonsense.

Fair play to Redmond who was by far the best player on the pitch. A tidy debut from Slattery and the usual 6/10 performance from JWP. The rest of them were awful quite frankly and some of them wouldn't look out of place in L1. How Gabbiadini is deemed surplus to requirements when Long, Austin and Moi are given numerous chances is completely baffling. Poor Ralph has a lot of work to do.

He didn't just stop scoring though, he got injured, and really ever since he returned he hasn't been given a proper run in the team. He's clearly a confidence player so being given bit part sub appearances with little to no service was never going to get him back to his best. I trust Ralph to sort us out and I've accepted Gabbi is on his way, but it does sadden me a bit as I think he is a talented player who has been criminally misused in his time here.
