    James Beattie

Around the time Beattie left, a certain Mr Rudolf Skacel (only a year younger than Beatts) was banging them in for hearts. 6 years later he's once again banging them in for Hearts (having vanished into obscurity somewhere in the Greek League with Saints fans saying he was finished). I think some players returning to a club where they were once popular could be more comfortable, motivated and up their game.
  2. Well if Brighton were battering them the result should have been even more obvious.
  3. Really? I mean, deep down, really? It's like being annoyed that a bear made a big smelly mess in a wood. Well hopefully the Brighton fans will read your post and sleep content in the knowledge that they've annoyed at least one Saints fan. I think the rest of us saw that coming a mile off. I actually laughed when I saw the timing of the goals. Being a Saints fans thickens one's skin somewhat.
  4. Great result. Don't give a sh*t about Brighton and Udders. I could have told you on Tuesday how that game would end (even what time the goal is scored). If you think it's nauseating for us, think how the Udders fans must feel. Unbeaten this year, they just won away at places like Franchise and Brighton and they still look likely to miss out on the autos. Has any team ever got 89 points in any league and not even made the top 2 before? Just goes to show how crap this League is. A draw useless for both teams on Monday. Expect all out attack. Walsall on the other hand will probably park the bus in front of the goal next weekend. May prove more of an issue, in which case we need Daggenham to win at Posh. Squeaky bum time now, but overall a good day. My aim for today was to match Brighton's result, we did it.

    James Beattie

The difference being Beattie hasn't been injured for most of the last 4 years. I'd have him back in a heartbeat if we could arrange a sensible contract and he genuinely wanted to be here.
  6. I think that place is dangerous enough already, without people going off line, onto the dust with no rear end grip. We've even had accidents behind the safety car going though there. (Montoya and Schumi in '04) Cheered my arse off.
  7. So you're outraged that I've pointed out the ironies of an RAF fly-by?
  8. Which is exactly what I'd expect an ageing player, who's out of contract, to say.
  9. So, that was the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight being followed down the Mall by 4 aircraft built in Germany.
  10. 08/09 was Kelvin I thought, by a country mile too. 05/06 was Claus
  11. Being heir to the throne is the only heir that matters. Anyway, out of the two princes, I think she got the better deal in the barnet dept.
  12. Well, this is it. It's the big day tomorrow. The crowds will be gathered in London. All the excitement, people waiting in anticipation. This is possibly the biggest event in my generation. The tension has been building all week, but in reality people have been looking forward to this for months, but now it's finally here. Yes, Saints could get promoted if they win at Brentford tomorrow.
  13. For me it was Forte's second against the Dons. By the time Barnard scored I believed we could win the game, but those two goals from Forte really came out the blue. To go from hopeless to believing we'd go up, in about 2 minutes, was just magic.
  14. Not something you'd ever dream of doing with Jaidi.
  15. Good point. I thought his contract was up this summer actually. Can anyone confirm that? Since when have we brought on a centre half at the end of the game? I can see what you're getting at, it's good having another (massive) body in the box when defending, but it is a very desperate tactic. I'd much rather bring on a Wotton type of player to chase opponents around the midfield and stop them playing. Or even an Antonio type player to run at them a bit and make them scared to commit players forward. Sticking players in the box just to head it away for the last 15 minutes isn't the attitude that will get us promoted. That's what Wigan would do at Old Trafford.
  16. If they're 3 points off safety with a game in hand they will have real belief. If they're 6 off, with a very tiny chance of success, they will be desperate. I'd rather face the latter.
  17. All based losely on the hope that we go up. Jaidi - No. Been excellent this season, but next year he will be a year older/slower. We need to be building a team for NPC promotion in the next year or 3. He wont be part of that IMO. Coaching maybe? Harding - Yes. Sorry ball boys, but we must keep him. Butters - Yes. Bags of NPC experience, but Richardson would be my first choice RB next season. Give FR a decent run, he will be excellent. Gobern - No. NPC promotion material? Can't see it Connolly - No. People keep saying, "If he's fit... etc". He's NOT fit. He hasn't been fit for 4 year and will be 34. Martin - Yes Not sure how Seaborne gets in ahead of him. Haven't really seen a poor game from him yet. Pulis - Yes As in "Yes, I would drive him to Split myself if Hajduk offered him a contract." N'Guessan - No Can run the length of the pitch tackling himself, then falls over. Stephens - No Has looked very average from what I've seen. Behind Dean, Morgan and Chaplow and we need improvements.
  18. These are the teams we need to be cheering on Saturday. The first two are a given, but the battle at the bottom of the table could be just as important. As it stands the bottom looks like: Walsall - 45 points --------------------- D and R - 44 Rovers - 44 Plymouth - 42 Swindon - Gone Fixtures on Saturday are: Exeter vs Plymouth Daggers vs Carlisle Rovers vs Owls Walsall vs Charlton If Walsall were to win and the others lose, they would be mathematically safe from everyone bar Plymouth. This would force Plymouth to go all out for a win on Monday (6 point behind, with 2 games left, better GD), which should work in our favour. If we were to get a draw, Walsall would be guaranteed safety going into the final game (and might be very greatful ) All hypothetical, but something to consider.
  19. Stick your house on the Udders. Brighton will not win this one.
  20. Lallana and Barnard have been excellent for us this season, however both were in and out the team a bit at the start of the year through injury. Fonte has been class all season, so he JUST edges it over the other two.
  21. No, I reckon Udders will beat Brighton and we get 4 points from our next 2 games. This is going to the wire.
  22. Doubt it. That's a fairly routine chant at cup ties in the same vein as "PL, you're having a laugh" against Blackpool. Unless all Norwich fans are Ian Holloway I doubt they even remember that.
  23. The spitfire was of course built in Southampton, so we can add the entire German, Italian, Austrian and Finnish Leagues to that list.
  24. Would have thought it would be the other way around. Norwich go up, sign a few decent players and Drew finds himself out the team. We get him on loan in January. Unlikely, but more likely.
  25. Orient - Their chairman said something about us at the start of last season. Can't remember what, but it wasn't very complimentary. Leeds - Cheering that last minute goal by Hull in the CCC playoff season which sent them down. They chucked half an Evian factory into the Itchen North. Palace - Fonte and Butter dropping a league to play for us. Swindon - Giving it large after 4 consecutive wins. Bit quieter these days mind. Plimuff - Think it's just a South Coast thing, although they're hardly local. Newcastle - 3-3 draw to keep them out the Champs League in '04, plus Khalej putting Kieron Dyer in a coma 2 years earlier. Dons - Beat them 4 times. Charlton - Something about Maze Hill I think. Brizzle Rovers - We nicked Rickie Lambert.
