Not overly worried. A major conflict is unlikely and even if it happens it won't heavily affect the West. There are all sorts of Doomsday scenarios (Iran/Russia/China etc. joining with North Korea) but the only help NK are likely to get will be armchair support from tedious fookwhits like Hugo Chavez.

Picking up from badgerx16. The term 'global warming' is somewhat misleading for this very reason. Climate change will include a gradual warming of the planet, but there will be cold winters, increased storms (hurricanes etc), basically weather going mental. Trousers, I wouldn't call yours an 'alternative view'. Among my friends, workmates etc belief in man-made climate change is the exception not the norm. This seems to be the case in the UK at least.

I am going to say the unthinkable. I don't think we'll go up this year. We'll come close, maybe make the playoffs, but we won't go up. That's not being negative or whinging, that just what I think. And frankly, personally, I'm not that bothered. We'll go up eventually, when we get that extra bit of luck we've been missing on the pitch for years. League One is pants but after 2009 I'm just glad to have a club to support. However, eventual, unhurried promotion doesn't fit in with NC's "5-year" plan. When he said in the BBC interview 'At the moment I don't want to think of a scenario where that [promotion] wouldn't happen', my heart sank. Reminded me too much of the 2006/7 season. I'm not accusing NC of a promotion-or-bust attitude, but surely there's a limit to how much money can be put into SFC with no return? So. Nigel Adkins is a good manager, but maybe not good enough to all but guarantee us of promotion. If the longterm health of the club depends on promotion this season, then perhaps the 'knives sharpening' is predictable, if disheartening.

What I can't believe is how little support England and Australia had. Even the US were nearly a first round elimination, although they did somehow make it to the final round. Another point about Qatar is that they are an extremenly poor side. I don't want them in the WC. A condition of the Qataris hosting the World Cup should be that the national team forfeits the right to play.

This beggars belief. Are FIFA taking the p*ss or what? They must be out of their minds. Besides the corruption, Russia has a real problem with football violence. Much, much worse than England. Then there is the problem of Chechen terrorism. This scum will stop at nothing (remember Beslan?) and Russia don't have a good track record of preventing attacks or dealing with emergenicies efficiently. This WC will be a disaster on an unprecedented scale. Now, I like Russians, my sister in law is Russian, and I think the British media are too often unduly negative about Russia. But the World Cup? Not there please.

I don't think that Jews are excluded from Qatar. At any rate, Qatar has agreed to welcome the Israeli national team should they qualify. However, this is a terrible decision as is Russia for 2018 (but that's another thread). Sounds like Somalia should be a shoe-in for 2026 then?

I had a friend who used to come up with ways to kill people. This was his best: Bury them up to their head is concrete, to render the jugular inaccessible. Cover their head in gravy, then release a pack of Rottweilers. The Rottweilers would have to bite through the skull in order to kill, which would take some time.

I tasted a few bites, but didn't "eat" a whole portion. It tasted worse than I thought possible.

I'm boycotting Amazon, and am encouraging everyone I know to do the same. They never should have sold this filth. Now, if they publicise the names & addresses of anyone who had bought this book, I may consider using them again.
