As well as saints being bad, this has carved away at my enthusiasm for the Prem.

Nominated for goal of the round. Just voted for him. Hoping he’s fit tomorrow as going to take in the delights of Walsall tomorrow for a change. -

What a shock. Hughes tells echo that everyone is fit and well. So has useless Hughes just forgotten Sam even exists? -
We’ve got an appalling manager. We’ve got a massively bloated senior squad. Far too many of our highly paid expensively bought signings are either on loan elsewhere, on the bench, or not even on the bench. Would much prefer to go back to a much leaner squad with much more opportunity for younger players to progress. Our confidence at home is rock bottom too. If we’re not already a south coast Sunderland, we are certainly heading that way especially if our plan is to panic bring in more bloat in Jan.

Not suprised. We've got a horribly bloated senior squad & a manager desperate to keep it bloated. -

Will Hughes even bother to mention this or will he blithely state he has no injuries. -

Hughes has zero track record of being interested in Young players. I doubt its got anything to do with performance in training and everything to do with the Chicken/Egg scenario where he thinks playing a dud in long who's had 200 premier league games is safer than taking a risk on a player who has played a handful of premier league games in 13/14. He impressed off the bench in his single appearance in the league cup and then then didn't even make the bench as hughes preferred his experienced duds. -
A complete free hit. Mccarthy Cedric Stephens Hoedt Bertrand JWP Lemina Hojberg Redmond Gallagher Elyounessi Subs Gunn, Yoshida, Targett, Romeu, Ings, Gabbi, Armstrong

Another goal, fantastic. Sounds like burton have played very well. -

Bring back four saints players to save our team.

Le tissier obviously Van dijk, best center back I can remember us having. Even better than killer imo. Lambert, quality to lead the line Channon -
Which players do you still "believe in"?
Baird of the land replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
Want us to give a chance to Gallagher. Would like to see Targett/Bednarek more involved. No Future Long, Austin, Davis, Forster, Build around: Mccarthy, Ings, Hojberg, Lemina, Lots of others i'm undecided on. -
Agree completely. Unfortunately Hughes seems to think the continually useless long deserves a million chances whereas Gallagher has had 20 bright minutes in the league cup.
-
still astounded we keep giving long opportunities. Really want Hughes gone.

Fantastic goal from a very talented player. -
We had 29 shots in Swansea opener alone last season under Pellegrino but the more telling stat was that only 2 were on target.
-
Unfortunately i don't see points nor the sort of thumping that'll heap pressure on Hughes. Probably a 2-1 defeat, where he'll try and deflect blame onto ref.

Baird of the land replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
We've already got a bloated squad so we really need to get rid of the likes of long etc before we even think about bringing in anybody in Jan. Also given crazy jan prices, spending next year's money already on ings & the fact you could easily end up with the next carrillo, i'd hope the club would steer clear of permanent signings. -
Moi apparently injured by one of our own ..

Ward prowse maybe -
Best case scenario is Hughes getting sacked after losing to spurs. Newcastle game will be huge. Feel it's set up for us to give them a turnaround like last season.
-
Think we handled Van Dijk situation reasonably well. Ended up getting a lot more money from Liverpool than they would have paid in summer. What we didn't handle well was identifying a new centre back as we bought Hoedt.

Baird of the land replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Why would we want to sign another slow centre back, especially an aged one. Vestergaard should be playing centre back and we should be pairing him with anyone other than Hoedt. -
Maybe we need relegation like we needed administration...
Baird of the land replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
At this stage i'd take a Swansea relegation and clear out. -
Hopefully we get rid of him much quicker than we did with Pellegrino.

Agree it was bad defending. Can't understand how he seems to be the first name on the teamsheet.
