"Others"....... Like Toby, VVD, Pelle, Tadic? Should we also grumble about Cedric because Fonte was mates with him? You could go on, but why bother when people are going to be so selective in their criticisms and pick only the worst examples... And why are you selectively leaving out players like Mayuka, Lee, Ramirez, Forster, Taylor etc etc? There are ample examples of good signings on both sides of the spectrum, really don't need to twist every post with clear club bias. As as for describing "Forte" as "Litter", we would not have got promoted without his goals, you hint at a total lack of respect and knowledge of the club's journey and where we have been with that one comment alone.

£11m payout and the Holland Job. He is laughing. Board failed him massively by failing to sell Ross, getting a cheap deal for Lukaku, and then failing to sign a centre forward. Madness from Everton. They are now saddled with a massive wage bill, a struggle for survival, and financial problems for seasons to come. Disastrous year! I should add, we are all laughing?!?!?

Southampton vs West Brom @ SMS 2017/18 - 20/6 shots / on target - Won 1-0 2016/17 - 10/1 - lost 2-1 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38424666) 2015/16 - 9/5 - won 3-1 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35270692) 2014/15 - 9/2 - drew 0-0 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/28816296) 2013/14 - 18/5 - Won 1-0 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/25600388) - Under Poch (still less attacking) Most attacking performance vs west brom by a long long way. And this vs a side that literally parked two banks of 5 in front of their goal for 90% of the match. Think fans need to put their frustrations aside, and actually give the new manager a chance. He is adapting and improving every week. He's moved to long and gabbi (which is far more effective), and i expect him to drop tadic soon. Usually we'd moan that a manger doesn't change or learn, or that his subs make no impact. And yet MP is doing the opposite of both of these and still the fans moan. And that is despite the obvious weaknesses he has accross attacking midfield, in goal, and in balancing attack and defence with this squad! Fans need to get a grip in all honesty.

So very funny that Puel had deep admiration for both Boufal and Pied...
-
Good home win, and still fans ****ing and moaning. What did people expect against a west Brom team which came only to park the bus? We are not man city, and have to say we clearly have some very ungrateful fans that would still rather slag off the team and manager than give credit for a win?!?! Sure signs of progress, great performances from Yoshi, Davis, gabbiadini, Bertrand and Boufal. Then good from the rest bar maybe Cedric, Tadic and Forster, who were all pretty average (or shaky). Manager showing that he recognised the issues, trying new tactics to work it, and using subs well to change it up. Promising signs, and a great win and goal! COYS!
-
Good win, full credit to the manager for changing things up, and good use of substitutes. Should probably be said, or do we only slag people off on saintsweb?
-
Embarrassing thread, supported by a bunch of ungrateful fans expecting instant success, and who are unable to see the evident potential.
-
I'll wish Puel well he if goes there. Seems a decent man but just didn't work out for us. Gave us a great cup run and final and all Saints fans should be grateful for that!
-
I don't except this. I bet Neuer could do a job for us all over the pitch
-
But not after finishing 6th and 3 points off of the CL the season before...
-
He's just linked islamic terror in the UK to rising crime rates. What goes through his head!?!?!
-
Spot on. I be willing to bet that the OP votes for the left - I should caveat this by assuming all snowflakes are lefties The worst thing of getting older for me is that too much footy has knackered my joints. But i've got a kid on the way so have to slow down at some point anyway... (ask me in 6months are i'll probably be moaning about lack of sleep!)

The EU gains massively from interfering in the British political system to undermine the Tories and weaken their position of power.
-
This is the crux of it. A lot of remain voters are being incredibly weak and short sighted. Britain and the EU are now locked into a negotiating struggle, and the EU has shown time and time again that it will walk all over everyone that gets in its way (see Cameron as our most pertinent example). You cannot simply go tho them cap in hand saying, "sorry guys, please be nice to us and let us back in with the same perks", because that opportunity no longer exists. If you support the country and want the best deal for Britain then you now have no choice but to back brexit, and back a hard deal - only then can the country negotiate from a strong stand point and achieve the best deal we can get. Anyone thinking differently is frankly a weak minded fantasist who would probably have hailed chamberlain as a hero for his scrap of paper. That or someone who would put thousands of people suffering job/home losses, rising poverty levels etc. as a fair price for left wing corbynism having its day.
-
Read. It clearly says goals and assists.
-
Yes, we went far more defensive at the end of the season under Puel. It was dire. Less bodies in the box (some achievement in itself) and the resultant run of games with no goals at home.
-
To be honest, if we are going to have this discussion, since the day Cortese was forced out, the new board have been sure to undermine and criticise the job he did, and to take credit for everything good about it. I don't think I have heard him praised once since he left; which is ridiculous considering we are where we are because of NC and ML above all other people. Its a sign of weak men when they try to take credit for, or undermine, the work of others. The blunt reality is that whichever people head our current recruitment, they are the people responsible for where the club is football wise. The current manager is not responsible for the limited options he has in goal, or in attacking midfield. The entire fan-base has been pointing these weaknesses out for two seasons! And despite all this, I still think the manager will sort it out (if he is given enough time)!
-
Totally derailing this thread... But Poch and NC have both made it clear it was NC. Les Reed had little to do with it... and once NC was gone, so was Poch. Its one of the top myths on here that Les Reed signed Poch, up there with Les Signing Jose and Lambert and being responsible for our promotion from League 1. Anyway.... I still support MP, and think that the fans need to give him more time, and the team more support!!
-
Agreed. The cult of Reed, and the things they claim he's done (a lot of which he wasn't even on the books at the time of doing) is very impressive.
-
I disagree with that, i think the board have had enough chances, and that they are the reason we are saddled with only Forster in goal and gaping holes in attacking midfield. It smacks or shocking medium/long term planning. That said, I think that Lemina is pure class, and I think that Hoedt is a very good prospect. So they have recovered slightly at the end of the window. Regardless, we have been on a downwards trajectory for nearly 2 years worth of windows at this point. And they've had mares before that as well. I simply think that Puel lost his job (at least in part) because of limited players available to him, and I think that the fan's are turning on MP for similar reasons. In my opinion, the current gaffer has the potential to be good, and frankly we've dropped so far we may as well take a gamble and see if he can turn things around. Many on here would have sacked LM in his first season, or sacked Koeman multiple times before his top 6 finish and near CL qualification. Many on here also told us that Mane was gash. The majority rule on saintsweb is usually wrong when it comes to spitting the dummy out. And I include myself in with regards to Koeman at his very worst.
-
Most of that is fair. But I still say give MP time. The man clearly has intelligence and experience, and its obvious that he can see the problems. I think he'll puzzle his way out of it and he is trying to justify the players he has with english football and his managerial style. Having "manager out" threads after 7 games (or whenever it was that this started) is honestly a bit silly.
-
And yet, the thread is for MP out, not Les Reed out. Fans are thickle, and their failure to correctly apportion blame means Uncle Les and co will get more chances to drop a bollock.
-
We also like to give it away for free. If we are going to be successful then people need to earn it.
-
Guys relax, Pelle will come good. He is an intelligent tactician, he's aware of the problem and is trying out different systems to fix it. He'll get there in the end. Look at Conte last season, was poor at the start, then found his system and went on to smash the league. It is ridiculous to sack the manager after so few games. Our fans have become unbearable of late, support the team and the manager rather than demanding instant success and throwing your toys out of the pram when you don't get it.
-
I am behind the manager. People need to stop embarrassing themselves. He is clearly going to come good.
