In the summer when he was being touted for £5-6m then I thought it would be a ridiculous signing, it's an obscene amount of money for this level (Matt Mills anyone?) but if his valuation is now nearer the £2-3m mark then it puts a different perspective on the deal, although he might prefer instant Prem footie with QPR.

Lots of expert's slagged him off after the swindon game and can't admit they were wrong so leap on any error or poor game as evidence. Ignoring the goals and assists he's got for us this season and last, he can be hit and miss but produces match winning moments of class, that not many players at this level can replicate.

It was a beautifully worked goal in a really tight space, chaplow timed his run to perfection, lallana played a perfectly weighted 'eye of the needle' pass and the finish was calmness personified.

I thought he looked solid and very good on the ball, he's not slow either, in the first half he made up quite a bit of ground on the striker to regain possession. The whole defence had a wobble at the start of the 2nd half but that was more to do with the midfield giving the ball away. A solid game and a thumbs up so far.

Adkins knows we had defensive concerns, he signed 2 defenders... both of whom made their debuts in a makeshift back 4, missing the shield of Cork in the MF, against a team with a useful attack.... So it's likely we were looking at the solution today but not in ideal circumstances. A lot of Defenders look shakey until they've settled in, so I'll reserve judgement until I've seen them play a good few games together. Hoping to get along and see Jos in action next game so then I'll have seen him myself.

I think it will give forte an opportunity to show what he can do, and i think he might surprise a few people. We're already one of the top scoring teams in the division so clearly our strike force are up to it making this lack of signings far from a crisis.

Everyone has been obsessing about height but it's clear that NA was looking for a big guy, who is left footed AND can play a part in our possession game, those guys aren't that easy to find and I like the sound of this guy more than Gorkss because it seemed clear that gorkss was weak in possession. Why not just give this guy a chance and reserve judgement till he's played a run of games? Celtic fans seem notouriously hard to please and as mentioned elsewhere how many have actually seen him play?

Why not go the whole hog and hi-jack arsenals bid for mertesacker instead? Only 10m, the right age and 6 ft 6...
