Really enjoyed reading that thank you.

That is interesting in that I always imagined everybody called it the Great War before the second war. They certainly did here but in the US it must have been different.
-
Yes I salute them too for all they did for us. I hope I never win an Oscar because I will forget to thank someone!
-
We would not have won the war without them but Ii am not sure we were trying to 'help' each other out.
-
We did also have to fight the French in the last war. I would though never discount the bravery of the Poles and the Czechs or indeed the role of the Norwegians but I think you would admit it was less of a game changer than the contribution of the US.
-
Just pointing out that we were not really getting help from these European nations - just liberating them. For that we needed the help of our friends across the pond.
-
In fairness the French, the Belgians, the Russians, the Dutch, the Serbians, the Norwegians, the Greeks, the Poles, the Czechs, and the Danes were occupied by the Germans in World War 2.

Charlie Austin - Sold to West Brom - 4M

Koeman left because Everton offered him more money than he could refuse! -
Go to the William Hill site!

Maybe he is referring to the classroom disruptors, that didn't bother with the careers advice or further education. That went onto spend their late teens and early to mid twenties not really doing much. Then realised that they had to work and because they had not bothered to take advantage of what the system had to offer could only get low paid manual work. Where I might part ways with Stug76 is there are always those in life that have just had bad luck. That is when the system demonstrates its effectiveness and I am not sure it does.

Not only does Amazon short change the taxpayer, they have also effectively closed down large swathes of our high streets and limited tax take further. How is this allowed to happen?

I am sure you aren't Duncan but how does one interpret being a 'bit of an arse'? -

Well said. Some of the comments made about Charlie Austin and indeed other Saints players are genuinely embarrassing. He has suffered with injuries but that is why he only cost 4 million. He has scored goals and if his attitude was an issue within the club it would have been flagged. -

You have eloquently expressed my view. -
Best Goals By Players Who Rarely Scored?

Ii remember that so well. Funny how many goals I have seen and that one sprung to mind as well! I would say Telfers goal against Newcastle as well. -

Wise words but you ignore the highlight of not worrying about losing socks in the wash. It doesn't matter. -
Matt Targett - Joins Aston Villa (Official)

We will see how he gets on at Villa. Maybe I romanticise a bit and Club legends can come from anywhere but as a supporter I think it adds something when a player has come through the youth system or is a local lad. I think they know the club better, have more of an attachment and that is contagious in a dressing room. -

That is fine Sue but as a supporter I like to see local players doing well and would rather he stayed. I also believe that you cultivate a better team spirit by having players that have a local affiliation. It is difficult to put a valuation on having players who have a sentimental attachment to the club but don't ever underestimate it. -

Would liked to have seen a local lad who had come through the youth system stay. I rated him and thought he would develop further. The forum boo boys have got their way. -

Theresa May and the death of the Tory Party

Honestly what would you do if somebody high profile moved in next door. Have a pint and a debate with them or organise a vindictive campaign against them even though they are a young woman? -

Not really. I don't like bullies whether they are on the left or the right. -

Can you imagine the intimidation she must have felt. Putting posters up all around your flat and the railings up the road. Making abusive gestures at your partner when he says good morning. They were even planning to get a mob of 300 together, one assumes to chant more abuse and like some kind of sixteenth century witch hunt to drive them both out of town. -
Cameron clearly believed that they would be flexible, that would have been based on something. When it came down to it, he was undone by political posturing and arrogance from the EU. Now that we have voted to leave and the EU project has been undermined I believe that they would be more willing to consider a relaxed version of freedom of movement that they can still argue does not compromise their principles. I may of course be wrong but it would swing any new referendum and put the whole Brexit episode behind them. Would that be a price they would be willing to pay.

Hook, line and sinker. The one thing that last night showed us was that nothing has changed. Any new referendum would be a knife edge.
