They should do it out of a sense of duty. It should not be a career choice. If it is a career they make decisions based on what is good for them not the people they represent.
-
That is not the case. He is very well respected in the industry.

Part of UKIP's appeal although it is also their downfall is the fact that they are not made up of 'career politicians'. In five years time it would be great if it was seen as politically stupidity for any of the big parties to put forward a candidate who has never had a proper job or run a business and who has no real exposure to the outside world.

I think that you will probably find in a lot of Lib Dem seats the local MP is well liked and there vote in many of their seats will hold up better than people think.
-
I would have interpreted that differently. I would say some of the traditional labour vote shifted to UKIP, while the Labour vote was topped up with disaffected Lib Dems. The Tory vote inevitably migrated to UKIP.

Mark Hughes's phantom goal for the Saints Aug 1999
Sergei Gotsmanov replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
It hit the advertising hoarding and bounced straight out. Hughes did not even claim it nor in fact did anyone. It looked to al intense and purposes as if it hit the post. We were 1-0 down at the time and it would have made for an interesting game. Leeds then scored two more. -
Yup Google, Starbucks and the like should be made to pay.

Why do you think your clothes are made in Bangladesh and you speak to an Indian if your internet is down?

Pompey war memorial defaced with Saints graffiti
Sergei Gotsmanov replied to Maggie May's topic in The Saints
Can we set up a paypal that we can all chip in to clear up? This really does compromise all of our values as Saints fans. -
Anyone else think we could be on the verge of something special?

In the same games last season we generated 12 points. Lets keep our feet on the ground. What we do know is that we are unlikely to struggle. -
Great news. Never doubted it!

As somebody who voted UKIP in the European elections, I think you are correct. It would be 70-30 in favour of staying in. The rump of the anti EU vote would melt away and that would just leave the jingoism vote. I voted UKIP because it sends a message to Brussels that I see the role of Europe as an economic not a political one. Currently the EU model is flawed and its faults need to be addressed. I would embrace a slimmed down Europe which showcased free trade and loosened the ties that are currently suffocating national parliaments. We would be very unwise to leave Europe though, not because we could not in theory continue to trade with them but because in practice they would shut us out as punishment. The overall bad feeling it would generate would be catastrophic.

Thanks TUS - do you have a link?

Who is going to risk another referendum in the next 20 years? And when there is one then it should be open to all Scots in the Union and not just ones that have stayed in Scotland. If you are Scottish you should have the right to decide on your nation's future.

Unfortunately that is realism. You only raise living standards by creating wealth and you have to incentivise people to come and create wealth. Unfortunately the side effect of such a society is you have some very rich people at the top.
-
Yup, the People's Scotland they could make it like Venezuela or Belarus or North Korea. They can look to Hollandes France and see what happens when you run out of people to tax. Bashing business and the wealth creators always wins vote but sadly does not pay the bills.
-
I think there is still a chance of a 'firm' no and this could resolve the issue for a generation. A close vote will see a slow decline for Scotland, as business pulls out gradually in anticipation of another vote in a decade.

Obviously was not from the Highlands if he has not seen fighter jets

If I remember rightly AS stepped down from the SNP but had to return because of the unpopularity of his replacement. What did his replacement do that made him so unpopular?

We are currently one nation and within that nation those that have Scottish roots should be allowed to vote

The real scandal is that 750,000 Scots who work in England are deprived of the vote in their own country. Who allowed that to happen?
