  1. Well clearly they are intimidated and that does not reflect well on the left. There is actually an argument that the more wealth you create the more you have to spend on public services and the more you borrow the worse austerity you will have in the years ahead. I subscribe to that argumen but did not go and scrawl Labour scum on all the Labour signs that I saw.
  2. Just pointing out why the polls were wrong. Would you disagree?
  3. People shake their heads and wondered how can the polls have been so wrong? The polls were wrong because of a campaign of intimidation and bullying by the left that genuinely frightened people from admitting they would vote Tory. You would expect it from Mugabe's Zimbabwe but Britain? How many Labour signs did you see vandalised? Ironically the SNP had a similar approach in Scotland and the referendum poll was also 5% out. Who really is the nasty party?
  4. I quite like Clegg. History will be kind to him.
  5. Its a bit like being lectured too about the dangers of smoking by somebody you know to be on sixty a day.
  6. Capitalism has taken far more people out of poverty than socialism could ever dream of.
  7. Its cynical because he did not raise it at the time and has waited until an election to do so to try and link the tragic migrant deaths to Cameron. In fact his view at the time was; “This is an important moment to recognise the National Transitional Council and their role in taking Libya forward and we’ve got to be led by them. It’s very important that Libyans determine their future.”
  8. Why? Eastleigh are my second team and then Athletico Bilbao as of two days ago!
  9. I think that the referendum was a turning point for Scottish politics. The factor that inflated the yes vote was the fact that they hated being ruled by a Government far away in Westminster. They could cope when the cabinet was full of Scots but now their left instincts are represented by Miliband, who amazingly has lower personal ratings in Scotland than Cameron, the tide has turned. They will now increasingly vote tribally in the same way that the Northern Irish do until Independence is granted to them. That process will accelerate if there is a Tory government and I would suspect that they know that. They will be more cautious now knowing that it will take a decade to ensure the yes vote swing from the no vote can be achieved. There will then be another referendum. They cannot jump the gun too soon though because Scotland was greatly scarred socially by the referendum and it will not necessarily be welcomed too soon by the mainstream Scottish public. The only way to change that course is if an iconic Scottish Labour politician emerges to lead the Labour party and they can feel properly represented again. That man is not Murphy. All very sad in my opinion but it is after all up to the Scots.
  10. By grandstanding I think he means that it is a flagship policy with no substance used as a rallying cry to appeal to the 'core' vote. Nobody knows how much it will raise, how it will be implemented and what the charge will be. It is just a glossy name. Even Jamie Reed does not seem to understand what it will mean. http://order-order.com/2015/04/22/jamie-reed-bottles-brillo-rematch/#_@/WyQ_5vvq99q/MQ In principle I think that you are right a mansion tax probably does have some legs but the chief objection is that there is an assumption that living in a big house, especially in London, equates to being a high earner and that is often not the case. It also rather naively encourages people to buy a second home rather than live in one big house.
  11. Every Saints player should have to read this piece. People simply do not know how respected Matty was abroad. I remember meeting the Italian Southampton supporters club after we played Derby County 12 years or so ago and they told me that they existed purely because of Matt. They also included several cabinet ministers at the time.
  12. Well Hollande and Miliband seemed to be singing from the same hymn sheet a few years ago; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-18966541 That was until Hollande proved that there is no real alternative to austerity
  13. Not if you are arriving by a points based system. You will be welcomed because you are filling a shortage
  14. I think Frankie Boyle is right, we should see the former colonies right. We could bill the Germans and send them the money.
  15. I still feel the people of Rome owe us an apology. The way they treated us for 400+ years. Then we had to put up with those rape and pillaging specialists the Vikings; is no one going to petition the Scandinavians for some form of reparations? and the French they confiscated all our land and handed it out amongst themselves. Unbelievable. And then they made us fight the French for 100 years mind you we had a couple of good away wins. We only really got our act together by the time the Spanish came along.
  16. Your positioned has changed Pap since yesterday when you said "Nothing wrong as long as the stock is replaced". Only a third of former council houses are now in private landlord hands - two thirds are not then and what if you take Robbie Fowler out of the equation I would agree with your original stance though. As long as they are replaced it should be celebrated that so many people are going to be set free to be given a chance to get on. It seems to be that the people moaning most already own their houses.
  17. Should be acknowledged by the club
  18. Or some people who believe that you will have more to spend on public services if you run your economy in the right way. Why call them 'c**nts' they don't call you stupid.
  19. I can understand your thoughts on PR but given the figures how can you contest that the boundaries favoured Labour in the last few elections? Scotland was part of that factor and it will be interesting to see how the SNP will balance things out this time.
  20. When Labour received the same 36% of the vote in 2005 they enjoyed a landslide, when the Tories got 36% of the vote in 2010 they fell short of a majority. The way the boundaries fall favours labour.
  21. I heard the opposite - friends on the same plane to the states said he could not have been nicer to the air hostess's and signed autographs for all comers. Good luck to him. I like Brits doing well in the States. Comedians are like anything, they get too big and mainstream it makes them unfashionable.
  22. I think you will find he was briefed by the police and ran the story based on what the police told him
  23. It was a good goal though - was it Blackburn under Sturrock?
