  1. Big Drop Pine Trail is something I would genuinely drink for pleasure.
  2. Having suggested that Supporters are not up for the fight I think it is important to recognise that in 2022 in terms of points per game we were 90th out of the 92 professional clubs in the league yet remarkably we still have gates of 30,000 consistently. That is a extraordinary achievement and a great credit to our supporters. We should be very proud of that.
  3. Part of me romanticises about the euphoria of the relegation battles of the 90's but this is a different era and we just don't look like having the mental strength or the goal scoring threat to get out of this mess. In the nineties you felt you could beat the top teams if they were off the boil, the Dell was a cauldron and got behind the team but even in 2005 the Saints Norwich game at SMS was one of the best games I have ever been to. Nowadays it feels like we are all resigned to our fate. I would love to see us re-calibrate and have a fun promotion season but I live in fear of financial Armageddon and ending up like Swansea or Stoke. Why did we not buy a striker in August?
  4. It always annoys me that they call us Soton
  5. A class act. Very odd that the management cannot see this.
  6. I thought Darren Anderton was and of course Bridgey.
  7. Very sad for him
  8. Pele was simply iconic when I grew up.
  9. A rather sombre day in the history of Southampton FC. I loved Ralph for his enthusiasm and respected that he appeared to have a plan. I may be wrong, but the players still seemed to be playing for him and he still had the dressing room. It was obvious that we needed a striker that could score us 10-12 goals a season and in my opinion if we had a Danny Ings of three seasons ago we would have been in the top ten maybe higher. I think that we have a lot of ability in the team and if we had not sold Romeu and had bought a striker in in January we would have been OK. The board has twisted on a queen and a four.
  10. Its like an entry for Britain's got Talent
  11. I feel a genuine sadness for the loss of the Queen. There was no better barometer of right and wrong and her extraordinary sense of duty meant she was still working two days before her death. I do find it extraordinary though that the Premier League have cancelled football. Football brings people together and would have been an opportunity for supporters to express their gratitude at the ground. I really don't think that the Queen would have agreed with it and I would go as far as to say she would have been cross that the St Leger was moved to Sunday.
  12. Very very sad. A wonderful player and a key cog in one of our greatest ever teams. Thank you David for the entertainment and helping us to dine on the very top table.
  13. i am sorry but I am still in the camp that achievement for us is to stay in the top flight and have a good cup run. Whenever we seem to have foray in the top half of the table we lose our players. Of course I always fantasize about us challenging for top honours but the long and short of it is that unless we have a sugar Daddy then that will always be the case.
  14. In fairness I am getting quite old and my children used to like the badges - It was not the deal maker though!
  15. Do they really believe that we are more likely to buy a season ticket with this sort of tack included. What a waste of money.
  16. I think that the Broja project worked very well for Chelsea and that will have an appeal to City. I would still argue that Broja (if he stays fit) could be worth 12-15 goals for us and that would keep us in the top flight so we should be pursuing that but Delap looks to be exciting. I regret now that his Dad was booed when he took the long throw ins! I hope he has an affection for our club.
  17. He is a fabulous talent - I would have thrown everything at getting him because you know he will score 10-15 goals this season. The only issue might be his attitude but that is rumour.
  18. I don't think it reflects well on them. I mean running a second when the ball is in the hands of the wicket keeper!
  19. I imagine he was great to have about the club. He gave us some wonderful moments. Thanks Shane.
  20. We had Pele, Best and Jesus in our team a few years ago and we still struggled!
  21. I don't do twitter; as David Cameron once said too many Tweets make a twat but nobody says applaud him but debate with him don't silence him. He should not be judged on his tweets but on his actions which have shown him to be a good bloke.
  22. If you are talking about the vaccine I heard him defend his stance by saying that the vaccines were given the all clear far more quickly than the regulatory norm and that had its risks. Many in the medical profession agreed. It was a relatively mainstream argument but I did my research and thought the pros outweighed the cons and opted to have the vaccine, in fact I would have bitten your hand off for it!
  23. It is worrying when somebody who seems to be arguing that you should just keep an open mind is ridiculed as being a 'thick as mince' footballer. I find him quite eloquent in the defense of his sometimes odd social media comments and it may not be the most orthodox barometer of intelligence but he did pretty well on Countdown. It seems that you are allowed to tweet if the mob agree with you. The 'Two legs bad four legs good' crowd would benefit from taking his advice and do a little bit more research into their opinions. I will always judge him on his extraordinary loyalty to us when he was one of the best players in the world if not the best and remarkably stayed with us. Probably as importantly, I will gauge him on what he has done and continues to do in our community. He has always been prepared to give up his time. Always a legend in my book.
  24. What is dangerous is the 'mob' shutting him down because he presents a different angle to a new story. Ronald Reagan was an ex Actor was his opinion irrelevant. Who should we be 'listening to'?
  25. To develop an opinion I would suggest a rich diet of views. When somebody else decides what viewpoints you can be exposed to that is dangerous.
