What did you genuinely 'despise' about his views? In the age before social media people discussed things in a pub and agreed to disagree, now they 'despise' people on social media. Judge people on who they are.

They say never meet your heroes, well I did meet him once, in a queue to pay for petrol and he did not just give me the time of day he chatted to me like a pal. When my son was at his academy he gave up his time for him and many others like him. He was down to earth and unpretentious far from the stereotype most of us have of footballers. On the football field he was extraordinary, he scored most of our goals and set up many of the rest. Coveted by big clubs across the spectrum he stayed loyal to us and Southampton. That was not just unusual it was exceptional. Loyalty is as good a gauge of judging somebody as anything. Of course, I found some of his tweets unfortunate but although they were often rather crudely presented, I could see what he was trying to say. The point he was trying to make was that in all the hysteria of the pandemic, decisions were being made and there seemed to be little scope for debate without the mob shouting you down. A bit like 1930's Germany really. He paid quite a price for his viewpoint, he left Sky and stopped being our ambassador. His views were often unorthodox and I probably understood why Sky felt increasingly uncomfortable with him making them. The BBC enforces stricter rules on impartiality than Sky of course, its their standard and not surprisingly, at one point when you liken the Government to speaking the same language of Nazis, they too needed to take a stand. Of course its a grey area when you are freelance but he was the BBC's highest paid talent. What Le Tissier is now saying is that the when he expressed a controversial opinion, many of the people that screamed hysterically for him to be cancelled are the same ones that are now decrying the death of free speech. Cunt is a word I reserve for special occasions and next time you use it, I would suggest that you rise above the social media lynch mob and just think for yourself. I decided, although he is clumsy with his delivery and I don't agree with some of the things he has said, he is on the whole, a decent bloke and remains in my book a legend of our club.

Its just bad luck. We generally do not have much exposure to injuries sustained whilst celebrating.

Saints fans have a long history of draining confidence from goalkeepers. We should get behind every player otherwise we will definitely go down rather than probably.

You can get fitter but you cannot get cleverer. I feel very sorry for Nathan but he needs to consider his position.

I see the main role of back room coaches as to build team cohesion, spirit and to be a go between the players and the manager. Of course there has to be a level of coaching competence but I have never really seen evidence of a number two having any revolutionary impact on the team with their coaching they just seem to put the cones out and give encouragement. I am probably naive of course!

One of the more dubious decisions that was made, was to clear out the long established back room staff. People like Kelvin Davis were proper loyalists who helped to give the club a heart beat and a culture. When the pressure is on it is these guys that circle the wagons and make the club feel worth fighting for. These guys provide the continuity when managers or even owners come and go.

Big Drop Pine Trail is something I would genuinely drink for pleasure.

Having suggested that Supporters are not up for the fight I think it is important to recognise that in 2022 in terms of points per game we were 90th out of the 92 professional clubs in the league yet remarkably we still have gates of 30,000 consistently. That is a extraordinary achievement and a great credit to our supporters. We should be very proud of that.

Part of me romanticises about the euphoria of the relegation battles of the 90's but this is a different era and we just don't look like having the mental strength or the goal scoring threat to get out of this mess. In the nineties you felt you could beat the top teams if they were off the boil, the Dell was a cauldron and got behind the team but even in 2005 the Saints Norwich game at SMS was one of the best games I have ever been to. Nowadays it feels like we are all resigned to our fate. I would love to see us re-calibrate and have a fun promotion season but I live in fear of financial Armageddon and ending up like Swansea or Stoke. Why did we not buy a striker in August?

It always annoys me that they call us Soton

A class act. Very odd that the management cannot see this.

I thought Darren Anderton was and of course Bridgey.

Very sad for him

Pele was simply iconic when I grew up.

A rather sombre day in the history of Southampton FC. I loved Ralph for his enthusiasm and respected that he appeared to have a plan. I may be wrong, but the players still seemed to be playing for him and he still had the dressing room. It was obvious that we needed a striker that could score us 10-12 goals a season and in my opinion if we had a Danny Ings of three seasons ago we would have been in the top ten maybe higher. I think that we have a lot of ability in the team and if we had not sold Romeu and had bought a striker in in January we would have been OK. The board has twisted on a queen and a four.

Its like an entry for Britain's got Talent

I feel a genuine sadness for the loss of the Queen. There was no better barometer of right and wrong and her extraordinary sense of duty meant she was still working two days before her death. I do find it extraordinary though that the Premier League have cancelled football. Football brings people together and would have been an opportunity for supporters to express their gratitude at the ground. I really don't think that the Queen would have agreed with it and I would go as far as to say she would have been cross that the St Leger was moved to Sunday.

Very very sad. A wonderful player and a key cog in one of our greatest ever teams. Thank you David for the entertainment and helping us to dine on the very top table.
-
i am sorry but I am still in the camp that achievement for us is to stay in the top flight and have a good cup run. Whenever we seem to have foray in the top half of the table we lose our players. Of course I always fantasize about us challenging for top honours but the long and short of it is that unless we have a sugar Daddy then that will always be the case.

In fairness I am getting quite old and my children used to like the badges - It was not the deal maker though!

Do they really believe that we are more likely to buy a season ticket with this sort of tack included. What a waste of money.

I think that the Broja project worked very well for Chelsea and that will have an appeal to City. I would still argue that Broja (if he stays fit) could be worth 12-15 goals for us and that would keep us in the top flight so we should be pursuing that but Delap looks to be exciting. I regret now that his Dad was booed when he took the long throw ins! I hope he has an affection for our club.
-
He is a fabulous talent - I would have thrown everything at getting him because you know he will score 10-15 goals this season. The only issue might be his attitude but that is rumour.

I don't think it reflects well on them. I mean running a second when the ball is in the hands of the wicket keeper!
