  1. Don't understand this. If we don't want to sell and it's just because players want to leave us, why would it take a large bid? According to your logic, if we have to sell because a player is forcing our hand, surely a club can offer however much they like? Shaw for £1m anyone?
  2. In general I agree with what you're saying, and it's the reason why I very rarely attend cup games these days. However I'm surprised that people are talking about it as if it's a new thing and that it's because we've decided we're a big club all of a sudden. How many times have we played our strongest team in a cup match in the (8?) years since Redknapp was manager? I'd be surprised if it's more than 2 or 3 times (JPT cup final?). Even when we were in League 1 we played the reserves in an FA Cup match at home to Premier League Blackpool.
  3. Not sure this is a suitable subject for point-scoring Trousers. Also, if I'm right, this is effectively the old Vospers jobs that are going isn't it? How many Southampton people went to work in Portsmouth when Vospers moved there? Portsmouth doesn't actually have much of a history of ship building in recent years prior to that, I think they've always been more in the maintenance line.
  4. It was pretty clear which games were included. I hadn't even considered going and I knew Stoke wasn't included from reading this site. From the OS: All sales dates are subject to remaining ticket availability. Please note that only games that have been played prior to the first on-sale date above – Tuesday 29th October – will count as credits for this fixture. For the avoidance of doubt, these games are: West Bromwich Albion (17/08/2013), Barnsley (27/08/2013), Norwich City (31/08/2013), Liverpool (21/09/2013) and Manchester United (19/10/2013). 5. People were saying that if you refused a place in the Europa League you ought to get banned by UEFA. That link shows that if you don't think you are ready for Europe you just don't bother applying for a licence. So not only do UEFA not punish you, they have a process in place which makes it easy to avoid playing in Europe no matter how well you do domestically.
  6. But he was American, so I think you're proving Barry's point.
  7. I'm not sure that the use of the word abduction precludes this also being a murder. The fact that there is no body means that an abduction of some sort has taken place. That may take the form of a kidnapping, a kidnapping followed by murder, or a murder followed by the disposal of a body.
  8. I go in there before games and noticed they'd changed system recently. The picture quality is much worse than Sky, it was like watching a video game. Blurry, and the speed just looked 'wrong'.
  9. Heard someone suggest on the radio the other day that it should be free to gain your coaching badges, at least at the lower end. Makes sense if they really want to get more people qualified.
  10. Didn't we already try something vaguely similar to the post-match pub idea? They used to keep one of the concourses open for drinking and watching Sky didn't they, maybe they even still do?
  11. That wasn't aimed as a criticism of Liverpool, don't be so touchy. The link you posted was for a massive redevelopment of derelict docks next to the city centre wasn't it? Have a look at an aerial shot of Southampton, 95% of the shoreline is taken up by active docks. The Mayflower Park area is tiny in comparison. I also don't understand who you imagine would be doing all this redevelopment? You talk as if it's the council, but that's a ridiculous idea. This type of scheme has to be performed by private companies. As we've already established, property in Southampton is expensive. So you'd have to spend a fortune buying loads of people out (assuming they want to sell), then spend another fortune knocking everything you've just bought down, then a third fortune building the new development. It's a pipe-dream, it would never happen. My point was that if you have a bunch of derelict land going spare, you're already a long way down the road to accomplishing a grand scheme. I'm not really fussed whether a city is attractive to tourists anyway, a city should exist for the people who live there day in day out. That means decent houses, employment, recreational areas. I lived in Portsmouth for years and despite the fuss people make about tourist attractions (which the locals very rarely visit), Southampton p1sses all over it for quality of life. I know it's upsetting that people keep mentioning it, but if people want something out of the ordinary there's this little place called London up the road........
  12. Difference seems to be that Liverpool would appear to have loads of derelict areas, such as those in your links and the streets upon streets of empty houses they show on TV. Southampton is still a busy working port, there simply isn't room for a scheme like that. It's a blessing and a curse I suppose, it's great that Southampton is such a busy port but then you get people moaning that they can't access the waterfront....
  13. Isn't it only the Europa League teams who have their matches automatically moved to Sundays (as Europa League games are on Thursday evenings)? Simple answer then, is to bypass the Europa League and head straight for the top 4......
  14. Didn't really have much chance did they? Swansea took the free kick and were half way up the pitch while several of our team were still well out of position celebrating the 'goal'.
  15. What did Fonte get booked for? He and Lovren both got booked in the same incident, Lovren for the foul so did Fonte get booked for something he said?
  16. Down to seventh as things stand with City 2-1 up at half time against Everton. Our season is disintegrating rapidly, if the trend continues we'll be relegated for sure. Dropped 3 places in the last 7 days.......
  17. The problem with the Europa League is that it gives you Champions League amounts of games, requiring a larger squad, but not enough money to pay for the extra players.
  18. How dare you smear the Daily Mail with the sins of it's sister the Mail on Sunday! Just because one relative does something, you shouldn't assume it's siblings will do the same!
  19. It's a spoof, but lol at the people pointing out that the Mirror was owned by the same bloke and also supported the blackshirts........
  20. I don't even understand what the record's supposed to be?! I imagine they'd only conceded one goal to this point in '83 and then let in a couple in the next game? Bit of a spurious 'record'.
  21. Might get busier now as it was named in the Sunday Times best 100 hotels in Britain at the weekend.
  22. What mysterious apology? Only thing I can see is when he praised Orient for winning 7 out of 7, then corrected himself and apologised because it's 8 out of 8.
  23. It doesn't seem to be the delivery time that's the problem, it's that they don't dispatch the item for 2/3 days. That's totally within Amazon's control, which is why I think they are doing it deliberately to increase take-up of Prime.
  24. Yes, it's deliberate to increase sales of Amazon Prime.
  25. I actually thought in the second half on Sunday he was our best player. Strong, able to ride challenges, athletic, some good passes. Just goes to show, opinions are like ar*eholes, everyone's got one.
