Fortunate there that Barnes is sh*te.

I'd say it's accurate, we're dominating but it's not as fun to talk about what's going well. 25 mins in, we've had the majority of the possession but not much goalmouth action at either end. FWIW I think Stephens is playing pretty well, a couple of good pings across field and doing a perfectly adequate job, apart from the slip which wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Working well for me, check you've got flash enabled or try it in another browser.

I'm just here for Whitey Grandad Guess that's the sort of thing we'll get from VAR. I can see why people will be against this decision but the rule is either you're onside or you're off, there's no grey area. I'd be interested to see what the margin of error is though and how they decide where to draw the lines, particularly with moving cameras. I'm sure it's been thoroughly tested but I have to admit, I'd be annoyed if that were the difference between us getting 3 points or not.

Norwich look awful, they've just had their first meaningful shot after about 4-5 chances. So many individual errors in the defence - mis-controlling balls or just kicking it into your own net. I'd love for them to get something out of this but the gulf is enormous.

I watched the YouTube video on him someone posted yesterday, he's very English though plays for Austria. Speaks English, German and Twi (his parents are Ghanaian). Looking forward to seeing him in action, though I don't expect he'll be in the side for the first few games.

6 deal sheets submitted to get the deadline extended to 7pm. - David Luiz to Arsenal - Lo Celso to Spurs - Drinkwater to Burnley - Iwobi to Everton - Praet to Leicester - Sess to Spurs Not sure if they were all deal sheets or just haven't been announced yet. Definitely heard someone saying that there was a photo of Sessegnon in a Spurs shirt about 2pm so that might not be a deal sheet.

Amazing how he turned it around last season, at the end of 17/18 I was very much in the "never want to see him in a Saints shirt again" camp. He's massively improved and the most obvious difference to me is his attitude - before he was the first to moan at everybody, now he's always smiling when on the pitch and encouraging the other players. Hope he can keep up his great form from the back half of last season. Very glad he's signed this new contract!

City's kit looks ace, pity it's only a one-off. They've been far better that Liverpool so far but both a little off the pace. Bernardo Silva the best defender on the pitch! I am so glad football is back

You'd rather he had it at the beginning of the season proper?
-
Two games on TV in a month? Blimey, we're going to smash the eight we had last season.
-
Presumably we'll be in a position to terminate our contract with Under Armour if they can't deliver kits by the beginning of the season? I'd be shocked if there wasn't a clause in the contract somewhere along those lines. Not sure what we'd do though - play every game in our away kit? At least it doesn't clash with many other teams.
-
I suspect we'll send a good few out on loan in the last couple of days, and probably some more abroad on loan after the English buying window closes. Maybe one more in.
-
Potentially a great signing for them, I know the Blue Few are excited about it. Smashed them in for Doncaster the last few seasons but nothing of note before that. Lots of pressure on him to deliver given the fee, particularly when they could have had him for free if they'd waited until Jan.

Tom Heaton going to Villa for £8m - one less club to try and sell one of our keepers to.
-
Not sure they've got a lot of choice, they got promoted using a load of loan players which are now back with their parent clubs: - Tammy Abraham (top scorer by a mile - 25 league goals, their next closest had 9) - back at Chelsea - Axel Tuanzebe (28 appearances at CB) - back at Man U, just signed a new contract - Anwar El Ghazi - now signed permanently - Yannick Bolasie - (21 appearances and 2 goals) - back at Everton but apparently a target for Newcastle - Kortney Hause - now signed permanently - Tom Carroll - (2 appearances then injured) - back at Swansea - Tyrone Mings - now signed permanently (though £25m is ridiculous) - André Moreira (no appearances) - moved to Belenenses SAD in Portugal

Doubt Djenepo will be starting any games soon, I think he's going to need a few months to get up to speed unless we have some injuries. If he's fit, JWP should be starting after an excellent second half to last season. Agreed, but against a hoof-ball team like Burnley I think he needs to play, if we go with two CBs I'd choose Vest for height and Yoshi for his pace.

I saw GQ put us 15th, so not the worst (Everton home last place)... but then the article was written by a Saints fan!
-
Lemina would fit Wolves much better than he would Man U, would be a good move for all parties involved if we can get £25m+
-
Has Upemecano ever scored in a pre-season friendly against Guangzhou R&F? Because Klarer has...

I have a Saints logo again instead of the V-forum logo

Tuned in for the second half, all a bit samey - go down a wing, low pass towards the six yard box. Opposition have figured that one out and we keep trying it. I appreciate however that we're 3-0 up and all the first-teamers came off at half time.
-
Agree with the others regarding Cedric, would be good to have him for the season and if we stick with the 4-2-2-2 then we will need four good fullbacks. Him getting beaten at the back post in the air is a tactical problem more than a height issue.
-
Well, at least we can all agree that our home shirt isn't as bad as Portsmouth's new one

The FA have been training VAR teams for the last two seasons I believe, practising on real PL games. It's going to take a few more seasons for VAR to get to a more polished level, but overall I can't see how it's not a good thing for the game, especially for smaller teams like us. We'd very likely have a trophy in our cabinet if we had VAR at the cup final a couple of years ago.
