Last one we brought in like that was Gunn. I like him but he's not exactly shown his worth, and I can't imagine it will encourage our already-thrifty owner to spend on a highly rated, but not completed needed, player.

Fully expecting him in the next England squad. Southgate loves JWP, he's been in excellent form and England need midfielders that run a lot and cover a lot of ground, and who are his realistic competitors in CM in a 4-3-3? Henderson you'd have to assume is a shoe-in, but apart from that - Winks? Rice? Both having poor seasons. Add in the versatility he has, able to play RB or RM, and obviously the set pieces, I think he'd be perfect for England at the moment.

Brilliant performance, Stephens, JWP, Bertrand, Armstrong, Redmond and Romeu excellent. Hojbjerg quietly very good too, Long and Oba did their jobs and I could've done McCarthy's! Not sure who put in a worse performance tonight, the ref or Zaha. Amazing that we're 3 points behind Utd and Wolves, level with Spurs and 2 ahead of the A*se!

Ref is an absolute joke with his cards. No idea how Romeu gets a yellow after everything he's let go from Palace, and giving Redmond a yellow there is just absurd.

Can't imagine a better pair to wind up Zaha than JWP and Stephens. Only a matter of time. Amazed Hodgson hasn't done anything to change it up.

Unchanged team for us, Wolves only change their keeper and LWB from their mid-week game against United. They will be tired.

Can't blame him if he wants to leave, a great servant and still a decent player, he will be looking for one last pay day and some regular game time. I'd hope he can do a bit better than Trabzonspor though!

I hope VAR doesn't get canned after only one season; it's by-and-large made the right decisions based on the rules that it is being used for. Yes, millimetre offside decisions are stupid but the laws of the game are black and white, VAR is just helping to implement that. We've seen a large reduction in the amount of diving and play acting, no offside goals allowed (remember last season when Liverpool had 6 offside goals allowed?), and more proportional punishment for bad tackles. It's not perfect, but nobody was expecting it to be in its first iteration. VAR is good. The rules (offside and handball in particular) need changing.
