Great first half, we've clearly been working on the 3 at the back formation. JWP and Redmond have both been excellent on the right, Long's finish was great and we've been unlucky not to get another 2 or 3. I don't think Armstrong has been great, he always looks so shakey in our own half. Suspect we will rue our missed chances (Watford always seem to pull something out of their backside - or the ref's) but hopefully we can get at least a point.

Not sure either way, he can be exciting but also incredibly frustrating. I always appreciated his tracking back and tackling though which he did very well (partly because he lost the ball so often..!) Ralph will get a good look at him before next season and decide either way. If he doesn't fancy him I think he will be easy enough to move on, unlike the other 10+ players we need to sell.

Not sure missing Vestergaard is too big of a blow, in all the games where we've faced a big target man he never seems to be marking them anyway. Looks a good team on paper, I hope they can click after playing a back 3 all season. Decent bench too.

So Cardiff's remaining fixtures - 4 games vs top 6 teams, 4 games vs relegation rivals. No chance for them I think.

I think Real Madrid may be asking Liverpool to name their price for VvD in the summer. It will be interesting to see how many Liverpool players stay if they don't win anything (again) this season.

Knowing our luck, Bednarek and Hoj will get injured during the international break, probably JWP too for good measure. Brighton have a couple of good players amongst their mediocre ones, I remember Solly March giving Cedric a really tough time in the reverse fixture. I predict 1-1 (dodgy pen and missed blatant red cards included).

Valuable point for Rovers too, one point above the relegation zone now. What would the implications be for Pompey if they don't go up this season? Apart from another year's snooze for the country's sleepiest giant.

Qatar were much better first half, Japan never looked like scoring. Second half is all Japan but still don't really look like scoring, they have a cycle of half decent through ball -> defender puts it out for a corner -> crap floated corner is cleared. Of course, as I'm writing this Japan score! 2-1 - first goal Qatar have conceded all tournament.

Just absolutely clattered a Qatari while attacking a corner, the Qatari dude looks unconscious and is going off on a stretcher. Yoshida hurt but playing on.

All in all, a good point considering we played fairly terribly. Moves us to 16th, 4 points clear of the relegation zone. Some interesting substitutions from Ralph, I wasn't expecting Vestergaard to come off, he was playing well compared to Stephens having a 'mare in the first half. Glad to see Moi doing the square root of eff all once again. Hope Zaha gets a 5+ game ban, what a pillock, Hodgson is going to be fuming and this could be the start of them sliding down the table. Credit to JWP for winding him up appropriately and the ref for getting the decision correct (about the only one he did get right all night, mind).
