  1. Leaving the ground we were discussing when we last beat ( only beat, not totally mullered) the current league champions. Was it at The Dell against Manure?
  2. Very surprised you didn't rate him Nick. I think Spiderman has been our best player for many years with his reading of the game, ability to sweep up and start the next attack as well as a superb engine. His signing for us during the Poortvielt era has always been one of life's mysteries.
  3. Spot on, sports fields have little value, retail would be next up in value in the FP list and housing would secure the greatest value, not unreasonably ten times the value of said playing fields if a planning consent could be secured for a relatively dense development such as The Dell..
  4. He was good for the first 20 minutes then his knees were shot and he got slower and slower, probably why left back Olivier Barnard was always AWOL in central midfield.
  5. Are you suggesting yet another twist, Jimmy D:- FF puts P*mpey into a financial spiral to enable him to commence a record breaking thread on their main rival's favourite fans' forum. No one has made that connection to date.
  6. The end of one season / start of the next is the Football League AGM, I believe 30th June.
  7. Wish I'd read the last few posts first - Been up in East Anglia all day, get back and catch up on the action over the last 24 hours, then they scupper the whole Furry Duck takeover before post no. 83100.
  8. Maybe like a good Kenyan or Ethiopian long distance runner, the PST is adopting what David Coleman ( or was it Stuart Storey) used to call the 'fast / slow tactic' . Once they get to the front, slow down the pace until the opposition has caught them, and then sprint away again. But then again fast and sprint are not words usually associated with this takeover.
  9. Reassuring for the Phew to have the south's premier investigative journalist outing the protagonists, which on the Nutjob thread are minor celebrities anyway. Who needs a broken record or groundhog day when there is this thread.
  10. Brilliant !
  11. No, the opposite, as club linesmen cover their own left back's line. So every attack is signalled by an off side flag even when you tell your strikers to drop back a yard. Played a great game at Hythe Strikers ( I think) at U15s once. 0-0 at half time, the ref told me he would stop play if the linesman raised his flag; and the (club ) lino said he would flag when we attacked and it was up to the ref to determine if he was correct. I put my strikers in midfield and got them to run straight through, we won 6-0. Happy days !
  12. Well done stevegrant !
  13. Vince, the problem with mini league football is the bad habits the players get into, such as the 'get between the ball and the goal' logic you refer to. Once your team start Tyro at U11, with offside you need your defenders to be aware of where each other are and to move them out together, leaving the striker(s) behind. I have still not managed to escape being a youth team manager, fourteen years now, and I would say the main thing is to keep the players interested as they arrive at 17-18 years old and have often had enough of it all. I took a team from U8 to U18 and then stayed on in the county youth league with subsequent sides thereafter. It is the best age group, as you only have the interested boys playing, not those playing because their father likes football or their mother requires a baby sitter. They are also on a level playing field as in the younger age groups the successful sides all seem to have the taller players, often much more mature looking lads a foot or more taller .With little protection the smaller build lads have to fight for possession, but eventually end up far better players.
  14. Why cheat the system when the site is set up by one of us, for us? Sad state of the mentality of the times, me thinks.
  15. Nothing wrong with the style of football we play, very pleasing on the eye. Just require a few more goals scored and a few less conceded.
  16. Chris Hughton commented today that any points away from home were useful in this Division. That comment coming after his side failed to score at a team well adrift of everyone else. I agree, cheer up folks !
  17. Totally dominated the second half and got in front, then threw it away. Cracking game though.

  19. So, 17th August, that means Div 2 minus (at least) ten points. Nice one !
  20. Have we this one on the list: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8452071/Reported-Southampton-target-Moussa-Konate-eyes-English-move
  21. Two boys, now 19 and 22. My best mates and their childhood passed so quickly, so enjoy it OP. From about aged three when they became more mobile and we got out the front door easier, we did everything together until they went to uni. As well as some fantastic family times, as Saints supporters we used to go to the Dell, but I used to spend hours queuing for tickets.I took them with some of their mates to watch England U21 beating Poland (?) 5-0 with Frank Lampard bossing proceedings and decided just taking the pair was easier. We did tours of The Dell and St Marys for birthday 'parties'. Once St Marys opened I got three season tickets and we had a great night at the MLT testamonial, the cup final at Cardiff, Johnstone Paints final, and both promotions. Good times !!
  22. Put a welshman in the try zone and its in his DNA to dive on the ball.
  23. Ramirez put in a "proper shift" for 60 odd minutes on Monday and was knackered. We need some more 95 minute shifts from him, murdering defenders when they're knackered not his fitness failing before theirs.
  24. For all the international players we have, the Opta stats in the (NA free) programme last night state 21 of our goals have been scored by Englishmen, 5 more than any other Premiership club
  25. The currant bun have found it: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4757384/jason-puncheon-ribbed-by-fans-after-emergency-loo-break.html
