According to KUMB they think we are now like Brazil
-
Good question. IMHO it looks like Reed might of been the one holding us back in the last few years with his tame appointments. Perhaps Gao might have a football man on his side that might have some ambition for the club?

It’s a miracle that we are winning games even at Xmas, and it’s obviously down to the impact of our new manager. A clear change from me is having a game plan and an identity as a football team. Marking at the set pieces yesterday I noticed the 3 centre backs don’t mark anyone. They attack the ball as a free spirit. Our attacking purposes are more direct and full of running too. I love the fact Targett and Valery are sometimes leading the front line alongside Ings.
-
Love the set piece setup as our three towering centre backs spread out and attack the hall rather than man mark. Finally a manager that has some tactics rather than a dinosaur that wants huff and puff.

Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often

Indeed I loved our tempo of the game. I watched quite a bit of training recently and I have noticed the players are crashing into each other loads more. I agree it’s not great for our injury purposes but it surely makes the players more fitter and stronger during the proper matches. How good did it feel when loads of Arsenal players were going to ground plus the way we scared the shi.te out of any players that likes to dribble with it. -
Would think we should win this if we can get Cedric, Redmond and Lemina fit again. Ralph is a top, top manager and we will soon be looking back thinking how were we so shi.te? Going 1-3 and a satisfying performance all round.

Ryan Bertrand not a fan of Mark Hughes...

If Hughes wants to succeed next time then he needs to put in the time on the training ground. It’s not rocket science that the players were unfit and that Ralph probably had them in training more in one week than Hughes did in a month. -

A pathetic thing to do but the good thing is the idiot responsible has now left our club. What a great buzz we now have in the camp and I bet the players can’t wait for training Tuesday. -

The tackles and closing down first half was quality. This team will get fitter and faster and up the table we will go. Well dome Ralph and what the bloody hell were we doing with a dinosaur in Mark Hughes. -
And Hughes is a disgrace. How can he call himself a manager as the players were 50% better today than he has ever got them. Nice one Ralph as I finally feel like a proud Saint again.
-
Totally agree. The most pleasing thing is over the next two years we are are going to discover some hidden gems in our club. Nothing better than one of your own preforming on the big stage.
-
And any other youngster at Southampton as we are opening the door for them to train with the first team squad. IMHO the last three managers did nothing to help our once fantastic academy.

Hasenhuttl to leave if saints get relegated?

We just need to get level with the team in 17th place ASAP and then I believe we will outpoint anyone in the bottom half of the league. It’s so important we are not 6 points adrift come the start of 2019 as the belief from the players might become a problem. -
Hoping for a change of fortunes this Sunday as the players have been doing 3 x double sessions from Monday to Weds. Long and Ings again are doing light ball work and no chance of being ready for Sunday.
-
But they do listen to the manager who he is interested in and if it’s been on the black box then we have a match.
-
Not a chance he will be back as he was only going light running today and just easy ball drills.
-
They looked happy starting training at 11-00am this morning. 15 minutes of stretching and sprints followed by a straight intense match. Thought it would be harder but then they could of done mental training on Monday. Long and Ings did gym work and outside light work so I can’t see them back on Sunday.

Hermann sounds like a player we are targeting as he’s currently not playing first team football plus he would be on our black box. Yes he was impressive last time we met but Vestergaard was too and he’s just plain shi.te.

This is going to take time, and we need to be patient...
Pilchards replied to InvictaSaint's topic in The Saints
Totally agree. They need to be educated on the training ground starting on Monday. The defenders should be taken away on a single pitch and will play against the academy strikers, midfielders and drills all week until they get it right. They need to breed confidence as a unit and the coaching staff will have RH instructions ringing in their ears. -
I heard he could not finish the 8 lap sprints around the pitch and the 2,000 burpees yesterday so he has been dropped.
-
Very good! Something got to happen for him to improve surely?
-
Do you think a top quality manager would join us if we have not changed our ways? Mitchell will still have contacts at this club and I’m pretty sure RH has spoken to him about it. IMHO Mitchell will join us soon.
-
IMHO that won’t happen today as we have a match on Saturday. I reckon that will be Tuesday next week. Might pop along for a laugh.
