Funniest thing I've read in ages! Hope the Pompey lad pulls through these Russian hoolies seem to be on a different level. Still have no sympathy for the muppets locked up for throwing bottles at the police though.

Very good point, the only one who is potentially worth more these days is Clyne but he was in the last year of his contract with us. -

What does it matter if we are going to sell those players regardless of which manager comes in? Wanyama will go even if SAF comes out of retirement to take over here next season so selling him before or after makes no difference as the new manager would be told he's leaving when negotiating. -
Sadly the one thing he's wanted for years or a managers job he can't have and God he looks old before it's time!

Southampton's academy team could play in the EFL Trophy next season

That's a decent effort from someone directly effected by the decision and does make it harder to object! I still think the real problem with lower league football in this country is too many players being paid to much money clearly the clubs can't afford the costs so they should be cutting their cloth appropriately not relying on hand outs but people find that unpalatable because the logical conclusion is that we shouldn't have 4 tiers of professional clubs with half the 5th tier being pro's as well! -
Old Glenn makes me chuckle every time his fat face appears on TV talking football these days, walked out on his most successful spell in management at a club who were on the up to return to his 'spiritual home' ruined our season and eventually his career Maybe he sinned in a previous life and is being punished for it?

Which will also get them into trouble over financial fair play rules and lead to them getting even more ripped off as the only way to attract really good players will be to pay them more than they could get for a higher standard of football elsewhere. I hope this new owner has really really deep pockets!
-
Interesting if true, wonder if that includes money from the sale of Stones and Lukaku who both seem pretty sure to leave this summer? The way they are going about things I would expect them to be taken over a barrel by any club they approach as they have made it far to clear they have money to spend and the new owner clearly wants to 'make a statement' I've no idea what the going rate for a manager is but I would say at 5m in compensation we have screwed them for every penny!

That announcement makes it clear big Ron shafted us then not even a thank you for our two best ever premier league finishes! Glad it's all over and hopefully we can move quickly to appoint his replacement.
-
It was very much like this situation plenty of users supported him and plenty slated him. Pelle gets some unfair criticism basically because he's not as good as a 30million pound centre forward!

Terrible idea I would fully expect a team of majority under 21's to get bossed and bullied and loose I don't see how it is good for our youngsters or the competition! -
That would be a massive disappointment and probably our worst looking kit in decades!
-
Shouldn't be sold unless we are spending big on a replacement! It's classic saints fans don't know what we've got till it's gone! I remember when we were first in the championship people cried out for a goal scorer we got rasiac and the forums slated him for bringing nothing but goals. Sadly the average football fan isn't clever enough to talk about the game!
-
He needs to drop down a few levels and play a full season out of the limelight to see if there is anything there still, it really is sad to see a player fall so far so fast.
-
Have to agree with this we are due a season of adjustment at some point, I wouldn't be happy with a top ten finish next season what with the added European games and the inevitable summer upheaval, a little step backwards but hopefully allowing us to consolidate and push on again.
-
A gamble that didn't work out but not a big risk so best for both parties that he moves on.
-
Clauses are irrelevant it is up to us if we sell and assume the response to any enquiries will be a simple come back with double that offer or get stuffed, I would have no problem selling players to them provided they are willing to pay the same idiot tax they have paid for our manager silly season is definitely in full swing if managers command 5m transfer fees hell that's more than we paid for Rory the Long throw Delap (why did that never work for us?)!
-
The web is full of such stories and the only complaints I've read seem pretty valid!
-
That article really is the worst form of click bait imaginable, all they have seen is that Koeman has worked with him twice so therefor must want to take him with him, the article even says he was a key player for us last season which I'm sure even he wouldn't agree with! Oh and your right if that's the player he most wants and we sting them for a profit nobody will bat an eye lid!
-
I suspect they never thought they would get triggered and if they did 20m or so is a good price for a player in a mid table team !

Player/Manager Departures Fan Point of View
a1ex2001 replied to haydnthomasSFC's topic in The Saints
desperately needs a proof reader and any fan who wants Moyes is mad the last thing we want is a negative manager coming in on the back of two failures. -
This we should simply stipulate as part of the terms of letting him speak to Everton and I would also make it clear that no player fiollows him this transfer window, unless of course he wants to start the bidding for victor at 30mil!
-
Think it was probably a bit of a joke as he sounds so similar to poch lol!
-
I've said all along if he wasn't going to sign an extension then he should go I never want a repeat of the drift at the end of the strachan reign again it was a disaster for the club so everton's interest is perfect as we can pretend to be all ****ed off and demand a big wedge of compo while really we were going to sack him anyway! Almost as sweet as when the scots 'poached' burley from us! Just for giggles we should refuse to release his brother and put him on gardening leave for a year then at least we will know which one was doing the best work! Ooh forgot #wemelton (that has to be the tag of the summer!)
-
We won't bring in a manager who wants to radically change things we have played a broadly similar formation and style since we returned to the top flight with a few minor tweaks along the way. Any manager who joins the club will be expected to continue this so there will be no twitchy style influx of dodgy crap! We have been victims of our own success lately which is both a blessing and a curse but I for one would rather the club stick to it's principles and plans than risk busting the bank on gambles and greedy individuals that don't want to be here.
