Confirmed: Caulker loan cancelled; Moves on loan to Liverpool
a1ex2001 replied to Maggie May's topic in The Saints
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest I'm still not sure why he has been so poor for u a few years back he looked to be really going places. -
James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
a1ex2001 replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
and even that can be improved with the correct gym work he may never be lightning quick but his pace could improve with the correct conditioning. The challenge is doing the right gym work to improve his strength and athleticism without damaging his other attributes! -
Targett & Ward-Prowse named in England U21 Euro squad
a1ex2001 replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
I'm always a bit dubious of players who get lots of under 21 caps I remember being very excited when we signed David Prutton who had made 25 appearances and that didn't work out so well! I still thing ward-prowse is looking good and can't really understand the level of criticism he gets on here! I don't think he is going to be a bale or a Ronaldo but I do think he will be a solid premiership/fringe of the England squad player which at least means we might get to keep him for a while. Next club captain for me. -
interesting to note the positive comment about Steven Davis as well as the article says a much underrated player I'm still surprised we managed to snap him up from Rangers without any real competition.

There is no pleasing footy fans! We can't win by 6 or 7 every week or even every season! Sometimes we will be best for the first half sometimes the second, sometimes we will loose when we deserve to win other times we will get a 90th minute winner when we should be thrashed! Football is a great lottery and that's why we all follow it.

a quality player who in his prime would really have suited our current style, he arrived at saints before the premier league was ready for him! Totally respect his decision to spend most of his career at Elfsberg he was clearly happy there are earning enough money to keep him and his family satisfied. I'd like to see more footballers put personal happiness above the bottom line!

Adam made his bed so has to accept what comes his way. Still he was quality for us and decent for Liverpool, I'd take him back for 7-8m and an apology.
-
Needs something similar for his arse and his elbow and if you could show him a barn door that might improve his form. Hope they hit Jose with a 3 game touchline/stadium ban it's not like it is his first offence, still love his response when the interviewer asked him about our penalties that weren't given, Muppet!

Someone has to be first

I think it would be good for him to go out on Loan to a decent Championship side for a few months provided he plays, for me he has reached a point in his development where some real game time in competitive matches will really bring him on.
-
Quality player, I was a bit dubious when we origionally brought him in to replace Shaw but he has repaid us in spades! Hopefully his proveious experience witha 'top' club will encourage him to stay and enjoy playing football a little longer than some.

Sounds about right and a kick about against Ajax's non international players just to keep things football related!
-
and David Hirst who only had one leg! Breaking our transfer record is never a good thing!
-
I'm amazed he's not played at a much higher level every time I've seen him play (admittedly not often) he looks very good, I remember one edition of Champ Manager where he was very tasty.
-
I thought exactly the same, I read the squad list and thought he's a shoe in to start as there are no other left backs then I remember bench warmer gibbs and and the utility player that is Jones and realised he'd not be playing!

Jan Transfer Window One Realistic Signing Who Would You Buy

I thought he was already injury prone and not what we needed?

Wanyama and the St.Marys crowd ...boo or cheer ?
a1ex2001 replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
Odd question! How would I know but I'm sure a club somewhere would have got close enough to be shot of him. I think he needs to show the sort of attitude that Schniederlin did last year, he said sorry knuckled down and most importantly played as well as ever. Victor needs to clear the air, I don't care if he says sorry but he needs to state publicly tha he is committed to the saints and will give his all, humility is required and then when he gets the chance he needs to play as well as he ever has done! -
The summer transfer window's 20 most overpriced players revealed
a1ex2001 replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Seems pretty reasonable for all but Cech to me, the algorithm clearly doesn't work for keepers who can play top flight so much longer, we got great Money for Schniederlin given his lack of European and International experience. -
It's fair because the ref played advantage as he thought the Hungarians were better off not receiving the free kick essentially meaning Baird got away with the foul.

a1ex2001 replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
LOL he's an idiot that we should have flogged to any forign club that would pay the asking price, no place at this club for big time charlies! -
Great player for us in the Championship and would have been an integral part of our rise had we been able to keep him, I don't think he is anywhere near a starter for us but would still be a decent enough squad player filling in numerous roles. Would have been interesting to see how his career had panned out if it wasn't for the ill times injuries and some moves that didn't work out.

The torpedo! wasn't he the next Keleber Chala,or was it the other way round? I'm sure he was a Redknapp brown paper bag job, showed up on loan for 6 months never set foot on the pitch and the quietly disappeared I bet Rosie was counting the cash onthat little number! Back on topic interesting to see Gaston included in the premier league squad maybe the door is still fractionally ajar to him? I won't hold my breath waiting for him to kick it down but you never do know!

They all count, pretty much sums up a lot of fans on this site that a striker they all think is our weakest link is starting for Italy, oh for the days when we had such power houses up front as Bret Ormerod David 'No Knees' Hirst or Uwe Rosler!
