Saints announce partnership with Under Armour
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Why bother taking a new picture when you have a perfectly good one to hand, saves time and money. The only interest I have in this deal is how much is it worth to the club? I'm hoping for significantly more than previous deals! -
Can Southampton become a force in the premier league?
a1ex2001 replied to Soulful Odin's topic in The Saints
I think this summer with the crazy money swilling round someone might well do just that, he clearly has the quality when motivated and Jose probably thinks he can give him the required kick up the bum! -
Very rare on here these days but a sensible balanced post! Can't help but agree with you if Gaston had worked out as many believed/hoped he would then people would be referring to his fee as a stonking bargain sadly this time we gambled and lost lets hope next time we get lucky as that role could be key to us pushing on a that little bit which is needed for the next step!
-
Thought he would see regular action this season bit puzzled by the situation if he isn't in the squad at the start of next season he should look for a short term loan at championship level. Has always looked decent to me!
-
Oddly this situation doesn't seem to be that odd especially with short term loans!
-
Last sentence sums up the race to the bottom that we are in while most of the worlds money flows into the pocket of a tiny number of people, living in Sheffield uber has ruined the local taxi market and means at peak times you will get absolutely rinsed with surge charging through the roof!

like pochettino senior

Pelle and movement I thought everyone here believed he was made of concrete! Good to see the big man back in the goals our good runs are so often fired by him hitting a hot streak!

I've never understood Hillsborough being used as a reason for not allowing standing in modern stadiums, it wasn't standing that killed people it was caging them in like animals and not letting them out when the problem occurred. There is no way modern standing areas would be fenced in like the 80's simply because hooliganism isn't the problem it once was and again standing up didn't make people hooligans being idiots made people hooligans and fortunately that element seems to have been pushed out of the modern fan base (mostly) and a combination of cctv and banning orders makes a return to the dark days of the weekly pitch invasion seem unlikely. Sadly we can't even have the debate in this country at the minute maybe when the new Hillsborough inquest is concluded we will finally be able to put what was unquestionably a tragic event behind us and move forward with a reasonable discussion.

I've never seen people throwing furniture at each other in a UK city centre on a Friday/Saturday night!
-
Love it. For me we have just changed our stlye and it doesn't suit him added to which he is clearly a confidence player and that is in short supply at the minute! Reminds me a bit of Beattie the way he cores in fits and starts.
-
If beer makes you a violent idiot incapable of making a rational decision not to lib furniture at people stop drinking! If someone is far enough away for you to lob a table at them they are not a threat. It really is time we stopped making excuses for thugs being thugs!
-
Injury record is a worry but then that could just be an Arsenal thing as there players always seem to be knackered! I'd have him back I think with regular football and confidence he could find his form again which he has definitely shown glimpses of in an Arsenal shirt, same goes for Walcott I'd have him in a heart beat!
-
so it could have been anyone in the square this happened to but it just happened to be a group of lads most of whom have past for being thugs that got caught on cctv throwing furniture and not any of the hundreds of normal non idiot saints fans that were there? Pull the other one it has bells on some people are attracted to violence these mugs are clearly amongst them? Not saying it wasn't an unprovoked attack but there are ways and means of defending yourself without throwing punches let alone furniture
-
exactly, I'd give them all season tickets for life. I bet it wasn't their faults last time they got banned either was probably some other nasty boys making trouble that they couldn't possibly avoid. This argument that it could have been anyone cracks me up clearly it couldn't have been as I for one would have been much more likely to be cowering like a girl than lobbing furniture guess the initial reaction of some people is slightly different!
-
Don't get the sympathy, nobody needs to throw furniture around and square up to the police in order to defend themselves!

Do Saints improve players better than other teams?

Interestingly he was my first choice to replace Shaw, he was obviously decent and with a point to prove. I don't remember him being terrible for villa! -

I'd agree we are going through a good patch but anyone who expects it to last indefinitely is going to get a nasty surprise! -

Seems a rose tinted perspective to me! Plenty of players don't come here and improve lets put the Gaston elephant out there as an example or mayuka? All clubs have some players that work out and some that don't we are going through a good spell at the minute but we've had plenty of bad runs in the past Andreas Jakobson anyone? -
Can't see him signing for Middlesborough he's a free agent so I would expect him to attract a decent contract at a bigger club probablyy back in Italy or maybe in Spain
-
Victor for me is going to be an interesting one, contract running down so if he won't sign we need to cash in but I don't see where the mega bid is coming from so will we let him go for less than we have taken for other players recently or will we sit on his contract? Who knows maybe if none of the really big clubs come in for him he might decide this is as good as it gets for now and sign an extension.... A much more interesting debate than Schniederlin last summer when it was obvious we would get a massive bid from a top club.
-
Got a goal, an assist and won a penalty tonight maybe he's found his level.
-
I'd be happy for us to throw the game in the hope that were the situation ever reversed they would do the same for us.

James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
a1ex2001 replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
Plenty of observers in this country would have agreed when Rolando arrived at Man Utd hence the 'Show Pony' nickname! He has always pulling step overs and tricks and then getting dumped on his backside by the likes of Le Saux. Now I don't for a minute think that JWP will ever be in the Ronaldo/Messi/Bale bracket but he will at the very minimum be a solid premiership player for most of his career with every possibility that he will play for one of the big clubs and represent his country along the way. I can't stand this modern thing where unless a player is Messi/Maldini on debut they are garbage it is sadly pathetic like the fact we have to have a player to hate on every season even if it is just a journey man doing a job for us in a lower league! -
I wouldn't over state our success rate with these injuries, they are hit and miss sometimes a player will recover fully sadly sometimes they won't. Fingers crossed for Ryan but it's so hard to get the momentum back into a young career after what will be at least a year out.
